It’s Official - Obama Lied - You will Get Taxed!

ObamaIceCreamNow that it’s official, and hard to count, he’s lied about so much, Mr. “Centrist” is coming out full tilt in his budget proposal by taxing not only those who make $250,000, but - you guessed it, those making less. Joe Wilson was right - liar, liar.

WASHINGTON - While President Barack Obama is proposing to cut some taxes for companies that hire workers, his budget would raise a host of other taxes on businesses and wealthy individuals.

The budget proposal released Monday would extend Obama’s signature Making Work Pay tax credit — $400 for individuals, $800 for a couple filing jointly — through 2011. But it would also impose nearly $1 trillion in higher taxes on couples making more than $250,000 and individuals making more than $200,000 by not renewing tax cuts enacted under former President George W. Bush. Obama would extend Bush-era tax cuts for families and individuals making less.

Obama revived numerous proposals for business tax increases that didn’t fare well in Congress last year, including a scaled-down plan to increase taxes on U.S. companies with major overseas operations, and plans to increase taxes on oil and gas companies.”

Don’t buy that for a second. First, taxing small business owners - such as myself - in that $200-250,000 range WILL in fact increase the living expense of all Americans - period. Both in lack of jobs - I won’t be able to hire more staff, and may have to send a few home, and in the cost of goods and services.

“The tax increases on wealthy families would fulfill a campaign pledge by Obama, who has blamed Bush’s tax cuts and Medicare prescription drug program for swelling the government’s debt by $7.5 trillion.

“While we extend middle-class tax cuts in this budget, we will not continue costly tax cuts for oil companies, investment fund managers and those making over $250,000 a year,” Obama said. “We just can’t afford it.”

No, we can’t afford YOU. What has sent this country into deficit is your fiscally irresponsible actions and incompetence, not your favorite blame game - Bush.

Via Michelle Malkin, here are a few charts that show Obama’s incompetence and ignorance in detail.

Doing the math on the aftermath of Vietnam - II

You can tell the MSM is still steaming over President’s Bush comparison of a pullout of Iraq to Vietnam. The Washington Post’s Jim Hoagland’s tripe however, doesn’t help their cause

“Desperate presidents resort to desperate rhetoric — which then calls new attention to their desperation. President Bush joined the club this week by citing the U.S. failure in Vietnam to justify staying on in Iraq.

Bush’s comparison of the two conflicts rivals Richard Nixon’s “I am not a crook” utterance during Watergate and Bill Clinton’s “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky,” in producing unintended consequences of a most damaging kind for a sitting president.

It is not just that Bush’s speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention on Wednesday drew on a shaky grasp of history, spotlighted once again his own decision to sit out the Vietnam conflict, and played straight into his critics’ most emotive arguments against him and the Republican Party.”

I wasn’t going to print that entire excerpt, but you see the point. He’s a BDS possessed hack who offers nothing of fact to prove his point other than “Bush Sucks”. Comparing Bush’s point to the mauling of an intern? Sure, and the moon looks like cheese, therefore it’s cheese.

But this is even funnier. In his effort to “put the story straight” he completely destroys some long standing leftist propaganda on the war.

“Iraq fortunately has not produced anything like the scale of casualties and domestic conflict that Vietnam visited on the United States.”

Really? For 4 1/2 years the MSM has gloated over the death of soldiers marking, 1000, 2000, 3000 milestones comparing their loss of life to the losses in Vietnam, calling it a “Quagmire unto Vietnam, yada, yada. Now Hoagland - obviously trying to keep the column width and word count in tact - now says it’s no comparison at all!

Whooboy….

As I said Hoagland offers nothing except leftist rhetoric to argue against what was again an entirely accurate comparison. You can tell that President Bush hit home.

Secular Baathist/Islamic extremist divide overcome repeatedly in Iraq

cross posted at www.regimeofterror.com

For a regime long said to be sharply opposed to radical Islamic groups the secular Baath Party that formerly ruled Iraq has seen a conspicuously large number of its members caught in close collaboration with al Qaeda and other Islamic groups in post-invasion Iraq.

A recent arrest in Mosul identified a former Saddam Fedayeen leader as an insurgent leader responsible for al Qaeda/foreign fighter camps in Syria.

On March 23, the Tactical Report, an online Middle East intelligence service, reported that a former Saddam Hussein officer was appointed as an al Qaeda leader to set up attacks on Iraqi oil sites.

In addition to these “new converts” a number of older stories on the same topic were passed along to www.regimeofterror.com.

One story, from the Arabic newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat translated by a reader at Powerlineblog notes that one of the late Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s top men, Omar Hadid, was a former personal body guard of Saddam Hussein and had trained with al Qaeda in Afghanistan before fighting against coalition forces in Fallujah and elsewhere. Hadid, according to an al Qaeda biography after his death, also had a relative who was an official for Iraq’s Intelligence Services and worked with Hadid on postwar operations. It should also be noted that, according to Knight-Ridder news services, Hadid’s background included outright conflicts with Saddam Hussein’s regime though he testified to the country’s move away from secular restraints after the first Gulf War.

As previously detailed in a piece at The American Thinker by Ray Robison, the fighting in Fallujah a number of years back also saw the teaming up of many members of Saddam Hussein’s former Republican Guard and foreign and domestic jihadist fighters.

Reportedly there were “scores of men” like Abu Mustafa (who) was one former military officer who told TIME that he spent his time in jail (post-invasion) “studying Salafi Islam and receiving lessons in jihad from bearded Iraqis and detainees who came from places like Syria and Saudi Arabia” before joining the jihadist fighters in Iraq.

Abu Ali was ‚ÄúAmong those who have thrown their support behind the jihad is insurgent leader Abu Ali. A ballistic-missile specialist in Saddam’s Fedayeen militia, he fought U.S. troops during the invasion and has served as a resistance commander ever since, organizing rocket attacks on the green zone, the headquarters of the U.S. administration in Baghdad. When interviewed by TIME last fall, he spoke of a vain hope that Saddam would return and re-establish a Baathist regime.‚Äù How Ali pictured a “secular” leader tolerating the type of violent Islamic extremism that Ali and others had helped spread in Iraq is quite a paradox.

One of the many anti coalition groups fighting in Iraq, called “Battalions of Islamic Holy War”,
whose leaders also met with TIME magazine, was “founded by frontline officers from Saddam’s intelligence services and the Republican Guard who once shunned terrorist attacks that killed innocent Iraqis” later represented a “significant Iraqi wing of al-Zarqawi’s network.” The Senate Intelligence Committee’s report in 2004 revealed some intelligence that predicted these sorts of relationships.

These additions add to an already sizeable list of ex-Baathists/Saddam loyalists who sided with Islamic/jihadist fighters and al Qaeda in Iraq. While it is certainly possible that many of these religious conversions and new relationships were initiated post-invasion, drawn together by the common enemy of U.S. led forces in Iraq, it is unlikely that the countless (likely hundreds) remnants of Hussein’s secular regime did not have at least some kind of a foundation for a relationship with these groups prior to March 2003. The type of trust and confidence necessary to give assets including money, weapons, arms, safehouses and training and reciprocal placement of Baathists into al Qaeda leadership positions only leads an outside observer to conclude that the two sides shared common grievances, common goals and common beliefs.

It has been 4 years since Operation Iraqi Freedom began and many of these relations that have been discovered post-invasion give cause for re-thinking prewar assumptions that secular Baathists wouldn’t cooperate with Islamic militant/terrorist groups, just as some in the government had predicted as being possible prior to invasion, contrasting the conventional wisdom of then and now.

Mother in Obey video not just any mom but an established antiwar activist

By now you have see the Rep. David Obey implosion via You Tube. (UPDATE: Here is the video)

You can view it on Michelle Malkin’s site. But what about that mother, Tina Richards who identified herself as a mother of a marine? Was she there for a simple question or was this an elaborate setup.

A simple Google search shows that she well established in the antiwar movement and has been for sometime. In fact in January Richards made a rucus at at Senate Judiciary Hearing.

“Tina Richards, the mother of a US Marine who has already done two tours in Iraq interrupted a Senate hearing Tuesday to beg Senators not to send her son for a third tour.

As Senator Orrin Hatch, a strong supporter of the Bush Administration’s policy in Iraq, was telling members of the Senate Judiciary Committee that when considering a resolution opposing the
President’s plan to send even more soldiers to Iraq, “we must also consider the message that we are sending to our troops,” a woman in a tee shirt reading “Military Families Speak Out” interrupted him.

“Stop the surge,” said Richards, who identified herself as the mother of a US Marine who after returning from his second tour in Iraq was now being recalled for yet another.

“Don’t send my son back please,” said Richards while Judiciary Committee chairman Senator Russell Feingold, D-Wisconsin, attempted to gavel the hearing to order.

“Bring the troops home please. My son is broken, he cannot go for a third time and come back”

Well, he’s not that broken….

Actually her son Cloy is a marine and for a while now (between tours) an antiwar activist and a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War.

“On Thursday evening, September 21, 2006, a spirited crowd gathered to hear Marine Cloy Richards (Iraq Veterans Against the War) and his mother Tina Richards (Military Families Speak Out (Missouri/Midwest)). You can hear Cloy‚Äôs moving reflections on his two tours of combat duty in Iraq and the damage which the war is inflicting on the Iraqi and American people by clicking here for video, or clicking here for audio only. (8 minutes, missing the very end). Also see this video of MFSO‚Äôs vigil in SE Missouri.”

Now first I would thank Cloy for his service and he has every right to speak out against the war if he desires. But this makes Obey the victim of a setup which is a consistant MO of the left (George Allen?).

As much fun as it is to watch a Democrat throw a fit, fair is fair and Obey was punked. But this also brings us to another point. That is if as his mom said he is readying for a third deployment then technically speaking out against the war (and so the Commander and Chief) is a violation of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice).

I’ve forwarded this information to the Corps as I’m sure they would need to followup.

Torture this!

Guess what? The MSM has crossed over into defining legislation as they redefine the President’s legislation on detainee treatment and interrogation as “torture legislation”.

My, my,…..what kind of world so we live in when we “torture” terrorists?

Well, perhaps Columnist Robert Miniter, who actually toured Gitmo, can enlighten us as to what kind of “torture” these poor souls endure now.

“The high-minded critics who complain about torture are wrong. We are far too soft on these guys - and, as a result, aren’t getting the valuable intelligence we need to save American lives.

The politically correct regulations are unbelievable. Detainees are entitled to a full eight hours sleep and can’t be woken up for interrogations. They enjoy three meals and five prayers per day, without interruption. They are entitled to a minimum of two hours of outdoor recreation per day.

Interrogations are limited to four hours, usually running two - and (of course) are interrupted for prayers. One interrogator actually bakes cookies for detainees, while another serves them Subway or McDonald’s sandwiches. Both are available on base. (Filet o’ Fish is an al Qaeda favorite.)

Interrogations are not video or audio taped, perhaps to preserve detainee privacy.

Call it excessive compassion by a nation devoted to therapy, but it’s dangerous. Adm. Harris admitted to me that a multi-cell al Qaeda network has developed in the camp. Military intelligence can’t yet identify their leaders, but notes that they have cells for monitoring the movements and identities of guards and doctors, cells dedicated to training, others for making weapons and so on.

And they can make weapons from almost anything. Guards have been attacked with springs taken from inside faucets, broken fluorescent light bulbs and fan blades. Some are more elaborate. “These folks are MacGyvers,” Harris said.

Other cells pass messages from leaders in one camp to followers in others. How? Detainees use the envelopes sent to them by their attorneys to pass messages. (Some 1,000 lawyers represent 440 prisoners, all on a pro bono basis, with more than 18,500 letters in and out of Gitmo in the past year.) Guards are not allowed to look inside these envelopes because of “attorney-client privilege” - even if they know the document inside is an Arabic-language note written by a prisoner to another prisoner and not a letter to or from a lawyer.

That’s right: Accidentally or not, American lawyers are helping al Qaeda prisoners continue to plot.”

Oooooh, TORTURE!! Well, maybe not for the terrorist, but it certainly looks like the guards ought to be collecting serious hazardous duty pay.

“There is little doubt what this note-passing and weapons-making is used for. The military recorded 3,232 incidents of detainee misconduct from July 2005 to August 2006 - an average of more than eight incidents per day. Some are nonviolent, but the tally includes coordinated attacks involving everything from throwing bodily fluids on guards (432 times) to 90 stabbings with homemade knives.”

If you think about it there is one thing you haven’t seen the MSM do in all the last four Bush-bashing years, that is actually go into Gitmo and make a documentary. You know, actually LOOK at how these detainees are treated, which is actually a LOT better than we treat our prison population here in the US.

No, they won’t do that because that would be the truth and they would rather foster the lie and redefine words into “torture” when in fact nothing of the kind is taking place. Except perhaps to our intelligence.

UPDATE: James Taranto with an excellent article in Opinion Journal, You can handle the Truth.
