MSNBC’s Norah ODonnell, Screws up the Tweet, “Obama Shot and Killed”

Got to love the irony given MSNBC’s love fest with Obama, and particulary because it was the woman who carries much of his water, Via the Daily Caller:

“In an attempt to release the news of Osama bin Laden’s death quickly late Sunday night, MSNBC correspondent Norah O’Donnell accidentally reported on Twitter that “Obama” had been “killed” instead.

“Obama shot and killed,” Norah O’Donnell posted on Twitter, citing NBC Chief Pentagon Correspondent Jim Miklaszewski as her source.”

She’s removed the post, but for posterity and because had this been a Republican that goofed she would have somehow talked about it unceasingly, here’s the screen capture.

Ezra Klein: The Constitution is impossible to understand because its over 100 years old!

Classic. One the left’s shining stars finds the US Constitution “Confusing”.

Klein throw gas on the dumbass fire.

“My friends on the right don’t like to hear this, but the Constitution is not a clear document. Written more than 200 years ago, when America had 13 states and very different problems, it rarely speaks directly to the questions we ask it. The Second Amendment, for instance, says nothing about keeping a gun in the home if you’ve not signed up with a “well-regulated militia,” but interpreting the Second Amendment broadly has been important to those who want to bear arms. And so they’ve done it.”

More cluelessness. When the Second Amendment was written just about every citizen had a gun in the house, and not all with militias. No where in the Constitution does it say you can only have a gun in the house IF you’re in a militia.

Klein’s problem is like a lot of lefties, they simply cannot take the US Constitution for what it is, a very simple and clear document that even a 5th grader could understand.

Keith Olbermann Suspension to End Tuesday

Breaking on MSNBC: Edward R. Dumbass is coming back.

“Keith Olbermann’s suspension from msnbc television for donating to three Democratic campaigns will end this coming Tuesday, NBC announced Sunday night.

Olbermann was suspended indefinitely Friday for violating NBC News rules about donations.

(Msnbc.com, a joint venture of NBC Universal and Microsoft, also has a policy against its journalists contributing to political campaigns.)
In a statement released Sunday evening, Phil Griffin, president of msnbc television, said he had deliberated about Olbermann’s status for several days.
Story: Keith Olbermann suspended over political donations

“I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night’s program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy,” Griffin said. “We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night.

On his own Twitter account, Olbermann broke his silence about the suspension on Sunday. “Greetings From Exile! A quick, overwhelmed, stunned THANK YOU for support that feels like a global hug & obviously left me tweetless XO,” he wrote.

The anchor was likely referring to an online petition calling for his immediate reinstatement, run by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, exceeded 250,000 signatures.”

Oh joy. I was worried the constant and original source of idiocy on MSNBC was gone for good.

UPDATE: Newsbusters Noel Sheppard with suspicions.

“More and more, this has the feeling of a publicity stunt, doesn’t it?

After all, MSNBC’s ratings were absolutely atrocious on election night, and media critics from both sides of the aisle came down on the network for its deplorably biased coverage.

Out comes the Politico piece Friday about Olbermann’s untimely donations, he’s quickly suspended, and the “Countdown” host is suddenly getting more publicity than he ever has.

Two business days later, and exactly a week after the horrible election coverage, he’ll be back on the air probably telling his largest audience in history a nice little fairy tale about what happened.

I quite imagine I’m not the only one smelling a rat.”

Now that I think of it Noel might have something there.

Now that Olbermann’s been indefinitely suspended by MSNBC - in essence fired, wouldn’t it shock the world is Fox News execs at least attempt to hire him away? Crazy?

Perhaps. Olbermann has made a career teeing off on Fox News, but Roger Ailes isn’t one for keep grudges, and he seems quick to gather up the castoffs of other networks.

I know it’s crazy, but if it happened the uber liberal world would simply implode.

MSNBC Suspends Keith Olbermann over Democrat Donations

Say what?

“Keith Olbermann, the pre-eminent liberal voice on American television, was suspended Friday after his employer, MSNBC, discovered that he made campaign contributions to three Democrats last month.

The indefinite suspension was a stark display of the clash between objective journalism and opinion journalism on television.

Many prominent liberals and conservatives immediately called on MSNBC to reinstate Mr. Olbermann, who is usually outspoken but who had no comment on his suspension Friday.

The contributions came to light in an article by Politico Friday morning. Mr. Olbermann acknowledged in a statement that last month he donated $2,400 to the campaigns of Representatives Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona and Attorney General Jack Conway of Kentucky, who lost his Senate race to Rand Paul.

Mr. Olbermann also said, “I did not privately or publicly encourage anyone else to donate to these campaigns, nor to any others in this election or any previous ones, nor have I previously donated to any political campaign at any level.”

Several hours later, the president of MSNBC, Phil Griffin, said in a statement, “I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.”

Mr. Griffin consulted with both Steve Capus, the president of NBC News, and Jeff Zucker, the chief executive of NBC Universal before making the decision to suspend Mr. Olbermann.

No one at NBC News, MSNBC’s parent, would speculate about what this might mean for Mr. Olbermann’s future, though two NBC executives privately suggested this was not a step toward firing him.

One executive said the network decided it was imperative to take this kind of strong action as a way of underscoring that MSNBC, while featuring prime-time shows that overtly support Democratic policy, remains a channel that adheres to fundamental journalistic values.”

I’m no fan of Olbermann, but excuse me, where is it an ethical violation for a TV host to exercise his right to donate his money to whomever he desires.

Back in 2008 it was discovered that nearly 90 percent of journalist gave to Democrats. MSNBC itself in 2007 ratted, er, reported on 143 journalist that gave to various politicos on both sides of the isle.

I don’t really see the difference in whether a journalist gives a political campaign money, or speaks highly of them every night talking of “thrills up their leg” like Chris Matthews.

Bill Kristol:

“MSNBC’s suspension of Keith Olbermann is ludicrous. First, he donated money to candidates he liked. He didn’t take money, or favors, in a way that influenced his reporting. Second, he’s not a reporter. It’s an opinion show. If Olbermann wants to put his money where his mouth is, more power to him.Republicans of the world, show you believe in the free expression of opinion! Tell the crony corporatists at NBC—keep Keith!”

Michelle Malkin however says “good riddance”, and with good reason. After all Keith did get on his high horse about Fox corporation donations a while back.

Still, something in me sides with Kristol on this.
