Macsmind to Arlen Specter ***UPDATE: Was Specter “paid” to Switch?

All I got to say to Arlen Specter is “Drop Dead“.

You’re a weasel, a crap artist. Most likely wants a shot at Gonzales when they have interogation heaarings.

Good riddance, oh, and drop dead.

UPDATE: A stretch, but why the sudden change? He denied it twice this year, and then all of a sudden he changed his mind? For what? Was it money, a promise of something tasty?

We need to know. Here come the FOIA requests, what exactly was involved.

UPDATE: This refutes the “it’s conservatives fault”:

“Moreover, this is not the first time he has warned that the GOP is “too conservative.” In 1996, Arlen Specter ran for President and spent the entirety of his short campaign lecturing the GOP about how they were out of touch with the average American. … Keep in mind, this was just two years after we dramatically stormed to power in Congress under Newt Gingrich, and four years before we took the White House under George W. Bush.”

Which means we will return and when we do Specter can move in with Biden, because he’ll have no home here.

Colman Wins Major Ruling in Recount

Might it be just be time to say goodnight to Franken?

“In a ruling that keeps alive Republican Norm Coleman’s chances of overturning Minnesota’s U.S. Senate recount, a three-judge panel on Tuesday allowed him to bring evidence to trial that as many as 4,800 absentee ballots were wrongly rejected and should now be counted.

The decision expands the evidence that can be considered in the recount trial, giving Coleman the opportunity to put more ballots into play in his effort to erase a 225-vote lead for DFLer Al Franken. The Franken campaign had tried to limit Coleman to bringing evidence on only 650 absentee ballots that he cited specifically when he filed his lawsuit challenging the recount results.

In the ruling, the judges said they will focus on rejected absentee ballots cast by voters who complied with the requirements of Minnesota election law or failed to comply because of mistakes by local elections officials.

“We’re very, very pleased with the ruling,” said Coleman legal spokesman Ben Ginsberg, who predicted that “the vast majority” of the 4,797 ballots would be accepted and counted.

Franken chief recount lawyer Marc Elias said the ruling was “neither a loss nor a win” for his candidate. While it allows Coleman to bring evidence on more ballots than Franken preferred, it was far fewer than the 11,000 rejected ballots that Coleman’s campaign said in recent weeks that it wanted reconsidered.”

Regardless if they break - as expected 3-1 for Coleman it should erase the deficit and put him in the lead.

There is Nothing to Fix in Conservatism, Except to Root Out Impostors, and Reassert Conservative Principals

More hand wringing and reflection oh my! Julian Sanchez:

“Since the humbling results of the November election came in, the conservative movement has been scrambling to assess what happened—and to figure out how to prevent it from happening again. Much of this effort, in light of the Obama campaign’s much ballyhooed online operation, has focused on closing the technology gap with the left, and getting conservative candidates and activists to make better use of new media. Hence we see sites like Top Conservatives on Twitter, meant to publicize co-partisans on the popular microblogging service and encourage others to sign up.”

Thus more blather on how to get more “tech” and how to “get hip” and “with the times”, and so on.

Let’s review folks. Of the last eight presidential elections we’re 5 and 3 (Regan won twice, Bush I once, Bush II twice, vs. Clinton Twice, and Barack Obama once).

From 1994 until 2006 we ran the table on Governorships, Congress and held our own in the Senate.

So all this talk about “remaking ourselves” is utter stupidity. Remember that it was 2004 when Bush won - in the middle of a war I might add - kept majorities in the congress and liberals throughout the land were threatening to move to Canada. For the numerically challenged that’s four years ago, hardly

So what happened? Simple, Bush and the Republicans lost their conservative values and exchanged them for populist centrist values and ideas that muddied the brand and told the American public that we stood for nothing. It’s just as simple as that. Yeah there were scandals - mostly concocted by the liberal media, but mostly the loss of that conservative grounding that did it.

It’s not that we can’t use tech, but remember it did squat for John Kerry in 2004. What Obama did - and this is often forgotten - is lie to the American people when he backtracked on taking public funding and instead through his operation out to the world, where God knows where the money came from.

It’s yet to be determined if even some of that money was legal, the Normal Hsu trial may yet shed light on that.

But getting more techie aside, we simply need to rekindle core conservative values. They are the only answer for the problems now facing the country, and instead of sitting in sackcloth and ashes we should be identifying core conservative candidates while at the same time ridding the party of the impostors.

Don’t let the media and naysayers detract us from this important task.

Finally Balls within the GOP: Cornyn Threatens Filibuster on Franken taking a Senate Seat

It’s a literal crime what has taken place in Minnesota. Set up and instigated by a corrupt partisan Secretary of State, Democrats are seeking to seat Al Franken, failed talk show host as a US Senator.

Senator John Cornyn says, not on your life.

“Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) threatened Friday to filibuster any attempt to seat Democratic Minnesota Senate candidate Al Franken next week.

The newly minted National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) chairman said he had not whipped votes in the GOP caucus, but added that he could not imagine any members defecting and seating Franken without a certificate of election.

Franken will not have that certificate as long as the election is challenged in the courts — a likely scenario, with Sen. Norm Coleman’s (R-Minn.) legal team already attacking the credibility of the recount process.

“This is a very, very serious matter,” Cornyn said. “I can assure you that there will be no way that people on our side of the aisle will agree to seat any senator without a valid certificate.”

Some have suggested that Franken could be seated provisionally, which would allow for any court challenges to play out and potentially change the outcome.

But since Minnesota state law won’t provide Franken a certificate of election with an election contest pending, seating Franken could be a risky and difficult proposition.

Franken leads the race by 49 votes with all challenged ballots resolved, but Coleman’s campaign is attempting to include about 650 improperly rejected absentee ballots from areas friendly to the incumbent.

That would be on top of about 1,350 improperly rejected absentees already designated by recount officials.

Beyond that, Coleman is expected to take up a legal challenge to the result.”

Which it should. Coleman won the election but as I said it’s being stolen by a hyper-partisan group of hacks such as Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie — the Man from ACORN and George Soros.

Cornyn is absolutely right to take a stand, as should all Americans that cherish our sacred electoral process.

Good for you John!

Nice Try George

George Stephanopolous, Pathetic.

“Sources tell me that the Obama team’s review of contacts with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich will show that Rahm Emanuel had only one phone conversation with Blagojevich.

The contact, described as a “pro-forma” courtesy call, came as Emanuel was named Chief of Staff for Obama. Most of the discussion concerned Emanuel’s Congressional seat (which had previously been held by Blagojevich), with only a “passing reference” to the Senate vacancy, according to these sources. No deal for the Senate vacancy was discussed.”

I think we can skip the veracity of any “report” from the team in the equasion. The FBI has 21 contacts on wiretaps. Guess which version counts.

Ed at Hot Air notes:

“Obama and Emanuel still have a problem even accepting the circumstances as leaked to ABC. That question from John Harris to Rahm Emanuel may not be explicit enough to qualify legally as an offer to bribe, but it clearly shows that Harris wanted a better deal than gratitude for the Senate seat. After making that clear to Emanuel, did Emanuel tell Obama what was going on in Illinois? And more to the point, did he pick up the phone and inform the FBI and/or Patrick Fitzgerald?

If he did, then he and Team Obama should be commended. If he didn’t — if he knowingly ignored the fact that Blagojevich had put up the Senate seat for sale and put out a bid request for it — then Obama and his team are off to a disastrous start, ethically speaking. It may not be illegal to fail to report such an obvious attempt to sell the seat, but it would show a monumental gap between the campaign rhetoric of Barack Obama and the reality of how he governs. Obama would have to jettison Emanuel under those circumstances or face questions for the next four years about how his team operates.”
