Yet another example of a liberal going the “in your face” route. Democrat thug Graeme Zeilinski who previously incited riots against Republicans is at it again.

“Graeme Zeilinski was upset that a WisconsinReporter.com reporter noted in an interview with the Heritage Foundation think thank that Wisconsin had, according to U.S. Department of Labor data, created nearly half of all the new jobs created across the country in June.

In an email titled “What Happens Next,” Zeilinski warned WisconsinReporter.com that:

“What happens next is that I contact the publishers and editors of the papers that publish you as ‘unbiased,’ and let them know our deep concern about the obvious bias that permeates your entire operation,” Zielinski states in his email.

“Then, we let our activists know which papers publish you, and they write the publisher and editor. Then, we contact the Capitol press pool and let them know about our concerns about your credentialing. And we continue on until you actually admit to the truth of your operation.”

I think it’s time the police visited Mr. Zeilinski, his communicated threats have truly crossed the lines of harassment, and in the the case of telling people to punch Republicans even communicating assault.

Doctors Seek Gag Order to Silence online Critics

Next time you’re at a doctors office you might be asked to sign a form. No not the usual financial responsibility forms, but a form that may very well violate your right to free speech.

A couple of years ago an organization called “Medical Justice” came up with an idea and a form that doctors could get patients to sign that forbids them from ratiing their doctor’s performance online. Refusing to sign may have your doctor telling you to get help elsewhere.

The form is a waiver that in essence tells the patient to obtain permission from a doctor before posting to online doctor ratings sites. According to the Medical Justice website their mission couldn’t be any more patient negative.

“Run by physicians for physicians, Medical Justice is a membership-based organization that offers proven services and proprietary methods to protect physicians’ most valuable assets – their practice and reputation.

Our proactive services are designed to: (1) Deter frivolous malpractice claims; (2) Address unwarranted demands for refunds; (3) Prevent Internet defamation, and (4) Provide proven, successful counterclaim strategies to hold proponents of frivolous suits accountable.”

Note that third point. Yes the waiver even hints that your doctor may sue you if he doesn’t agree with your opinion of his services.

The way they engineer this is mind-boggling. First by signing the waiver you supposedly give up your right to your own post and grant full rights to such post to the doctor. in this way the doctor can produce the waiver and ask a rating site to take down the post.

I’ve spoken with two attorneys one an internet libel specialist and another a patient rights activist and both told me that Medical Justices is making promises they can’t keep.

Both agreed that the waiver is essentially worthless for a couple of reason. First it’s signed under duress, as doctors are requiring it as a prerequisite to treatment. Secondly many insurance agreements for doctors within their network prohibit them from refusing to see patients except for very specific reasons - such as refusal to follow treatment, etc. Forcing patients to sign such documents may violate their contracts with the insurance company.

Nevertheless it appears the only ones being taken on this are the doctors themselves who pay anywhere from $600 to $6000 for the service Medical Justice gives them. However, many legal experts agree that legally the document would be laughed out of court. Another point is that even if a family member signs there is nothing that prohibits a spouse or family member from writing a rating.

This isn’t to say that doctors ought to be slandered by anonymous posters, but even in those cases it’s near impossible to bring such an incident to court much less prove slander.

My advice is never sign any document that waviers your right to freedom of speech.

If you’re thinking of buying a new Macbook Pro, hold on at least another week. Several sources are revealing that Apple will release new Macbooks, based on the new Sandy Bridge chip this coming Thursday, February 24th.

Inventory of existing Macbook pros has been shrinking, which usually signals a product refresh. Apple typically releases new products on Tuesday. This Italian site, translated via Google says,

“Spazio has today received an email from an Apple employee, who alerted us to the arrival of five new products. It’s MacBook Pro and codes are as follows:
MC720,
MC721,
MC723,
MC724,
MC725.
Among these 5 new models, we should have screens of 13, 15 and 17 inches. Shipments from Apple will begin in the coming days, so as to provide the Italian Apple Store in time for the launch, which could then take place towards the end of this month.

Yours truly is looking to update his Macbook pro (2008), it would complement that new iPhone 5!

Waiting on the iPhone 5 - Reasons to Pass on Verizon’s first offering of the iPhone 4

Tech is a fickle thing. I’m usually the first to get the latest greatest from Apple, whether a new Macbook, iMac, iPod, but over the years I’ve learned a lesson good - and better things - come to those who wait.

This week the iPhone 4 was released by Verizon - my carrier - and on Feburary 3rd, current customers such as myself were given first dibs. I passed. The reason is simple. This iPhone 4 is a compromise, not a victory. For instance:

1. No GSM world service. To some who hang around the crib here in the states it’s no big deal, however if you go to any area of the world - Europe, Asia, even Canada, which uses a GSM network, you’re out of luck, the Verizon iPhone only works on a CMDA network. Some are saying this will be fixed with a patch. No chance, the Verizon iPhone 4 doesn’t have the hardware.

2. No talk while surfing. A great help when you’re talking to someone boring like your boss or uncle Harry, but annoying as hell if you decided to receive an email while talking. You can check static data, but the second you access the data network the call drops. Unlike the the lack of GSM, this could be fixed I’m told by a software update, although I’m skeptical.

3. Biggest reason is that the iPhone 5 will be in all ways much improved than the iPhone 4, which was released nearly two years ago. The iPhone 5 is rumored to have a duo-core processor, a much improved and larger screen along with better graphics capability. The capacities will also increase to 64 and 128 GB along with batter life improvements.

4. It will come in white. While Verizon was rumored to offer the iPhone 4 in white, it didn’t happen - yet. It will be in white with the release of the iPhone 5.

The expected release date is May/June, which is just too close to plunk down $199 for the 16 GB model, or $299 for the 32 GB model three months before these fabulous improvements.

If you can’t wait then take the plunge and fear the burn in three months. For me, I’m believing good things - great things - come to those who wait.
