Republicans have Done their Job, it’s the Democrats and President Obama who haven’t done theirs

Via Byron York, Speaker Boener is readying a new plan to address the debt crisis.

“House Republicans are finishing work on a new proposal to resolve the standoff over the debt ceiling. The proposal, set to be finished Sunday, will be in two parts. The first will combine a short-term increase in the debt ceiling with spending cuts. The second will lay the groundwork for a longer-term increase in the debt ceiling coupled with far-reaching deficit reduction.

“Senator Reid said on Friday that he is going to wait for us to move,” says a well-informed GOP House aide. “So we’ll move.”

All throughout the process Republicans have been putting forth plans, budgets and ideas while Obama and the Democrats have done absolutely nothing except obstruct, bitch and moan. Remember the President has yet to produce a budget plan. Democrats as well have failed to provide a plan. President Obama has totally shown just how little leadership ability he possesses as further evidenced by his snit fit on Friday where he appeared flustered, over his head. This is perhaps the most disturbing. Obama’s lack of experience is on full display and it’s scary.

The media is of course trying to blame Republicans but it won’t hold. Anyone with a half a brain can see who’s doing the work of the people. Again the vast majority of Americans want a deal that reduces the debt without raising taxes on the middle class.

Light Peek Coming to Macs this Year?

Oh, we can only hope. For those not familiar Light Peak - engineered by Intel - is a technology that would allow all of a computer’s peripherials to use one cable.

According to Cnet there is word that Apple is poised to make an announcement this week.

“An announcement from Apple is expected soon about a new high-speed connection technology, a source told CNET.

An update to the Apple MacBook Pro is also expected soon.

Whether the new connector tech will be part of the upcoming MacBook Pro update (rumored to happen February 24) or announced in another context is not clear. Intel has been working on a technology called Light Peak for years and recently said the initial version would be based on copper, as practical realities dictate more conventional technology.

Apple is expected to adopt this technology in the near future-but likely use a name other than Light Peak, a source familiar with this aspect of Apple’s plans said. Intel has said in the past that the first products using Light Peak should appear in the first half of 2011.”

We’ll seen on February 24th. Frankly I doubt it comes in this refresh - most likely in the fall. But even if Apple only announces the adoption of the technology without actually putting it in the newest Macbooks it will be welcome.

Apple Employee Breaks Cone of Silence of what it’s like to work at the Apple Store

Via Popular Mechanics, an unnamed Apple store employee dishes the dirt on working for the super-secretive world of Apple. Specifically on the number one rule of not divulging anything about future Apple products.

“We are completely in the dark until they do a keynote speech. We have no idea what is coming and are not allowed to openly speculate. You can get into serious trouble if you speculate—especially to a customer. I am asked five times per day about the next iPad or iPhone, and I quite simply don’t know. But I would be in huge trouble if I said something like “The next iPad is going to have a camera.” I actually avoid the technology section of the newspaper so I have no points of view to accidentally comment with or drop into conversation. I’d rather just be dumb about it.”

Knowing Apple they won’t be pleased at this disclosure, and will most likely send a memo reading employees the riot act about making such secrets known. Personally I’m waiting for a more deep reaching expose down the road.

I mean who didn’t know that NOBODY buys MobleMe?

Sandy Bridge issues may delay or cancel MacBook Air/Pro Releases?

It’s that time of year when Apple rumors about refreshes hit the net. One of the most valid rumors is that Apple WILL release an iPhone 5 in June. Additionally look for an iPad 2 with a better screen and video out capabilities later this month.

According to many the Macbook Air is also scheduled for a refresh along with the Macbook Pro’s which haven’t seen a refresh in 8 months. The real issue is whether or not the new Macbooks will come with Intel’s new Sandy Bridge processor. According to Gigacom, the lack of the latter may delay the former.

“There’s still a degree of uncertainty, because there remains some debate as to whether Sandy Bridge supports OpenCL, the programming framework favored by Apple that allows use of the graphics processors. If the 13-inch MacBook Pro moves to Sandy Bridge, Core i3, and Intel HD graphics, Sandy Bridge for the MacBook Air is a certainty. If the 13-inch MacBook Pro gets a discrete GPU in addition to Intel HD, like the other MacBook Pros, that probably means trouble for the MacBook Air. If Sandy Bridge doesn’t fully support OpenCL, Apple will have to wait for Ivy Bridge. Ivy Bridge is the die shrink of Sandy Bridge that supports OpenCL, which is on track to be released in the second half of the year.”
