If you go by ratings, CNN doesn’t get the ratings that Rush gets in three of the major cities he’s listened to in.

Nevertheless, leave it to them to run another moronic poll of how Americans just adore Colin Powell to Rush Limbaugh or Dick Cheney.

“The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey, released Monday, suggests that 70 percent have a favorable opinion of Powell, who was Secretary of State during President George W. Bush’s first term, and who served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Persian Gulf War.

Only 30 percent of those polled have a favorable view of Limbaugh, the popular conservative radio talk show host, with 53 percent saying they hold an unfavorable opinion.

In poll numbers released Thursday, 37 percent say they have a favorable opinion of Dick Cheney, with 55 percent indicating they hold an unfavorable view of the former vice president.

Among Republicans, it’s a different story. The poll suggests that 66 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of Cheney, 64 percent give Powell a thumbs up, and 62 view Limbaugh in a favorable way.

In an appearance on CBS’ Face the Nation, Powell dismissed attacks from Cheney and Limbaugh, saying they are “not members of the membership committee of the Republican Party.”

Not much of a spread once they peel away the liberal/democrat over-sample. Again, Rush is an entertainer and the most listened to radio host in America. He gets 20 million listeners a week – more than CNN gets in three times that much.

But I have to admit these “Rush vs. everyone else” polls are getting hilarious. How about one that views Sean Penn against the Road Runner? Or Alice Cooper against Betty Boop? About as relevant. How in the heck is this news that we can use?

If CNN ever expects to get it’s ratings out of the crapper, they’d better do a better job than this.

In the military we called it a “Blanket Party”, or “Code Red”. In a metaphorical way we conservatives, indeed the heart of the GOP should do the same to Powell.

Since Powell is clueless to what it means to be in the Republican Party, we can no longer tolerate his dumba*s, he’s done. Lump him in with Specter, Jeffords and Benedict Arnold. Hell, with Mickey Mouse, except with a bigger head.

Exhibit 1:

“The remarks by Mr. Powell, a former secretary of state, amounted to a public rebuttal of Mr. Cheney, the former vice president, and Rush Limbaugh, the conservative radio commentator, who have questioned Mr. Powell’s Republican credentials and suggested that he should leave the party.

“Rush will not get his wish,” Mr. Powell said Sunday on “Face the Nation” on CBS. “And Mr. Cheney was misinformed. I am still a Republican.”

No you’re not. You chucked that bucko when you threw the handle for a far left socialist in Barack Obama – for albeit “race reasons”. Quite frankly you’ve never been a part of this Party.

Powell can talk all this BS, Minutia and Static all he wants, but he’s dead to the party. Unelectable, and will NEVER be voted into any kind of office.

The fact is that he IS a Democrat, dressed in a elephant suit, a wolf in sheeps closing and his disgusting and annoying appearances to grow discord ought to be taken for what they are.

The ramblings of a clown.

This is getting old…

“(CNN) — The Republican party must stop “shouting at the world” and start listening to minority groups if it is to win elections in the 21st century, former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Thursday.

In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria for Sunday’s “GPS” program, President Bush’s former secretary of state said his party’s attempt “to use polarization for political advantage” backfired last month.

“I think the party has to take a hard look at itself,” Powell said in the interview, which was taped Wednesday. “There is nothing wrong with being conservative. There is nothing wrong with having socially conservative views — I don’t object to that. But if the party wants to have a future in this country, it has to face some realities. In another 20 years, the majority in
this country will be the minority.”

Powell, who crossed party lines and endorsed President-elect Barack Obama just weeks before the election, said the GOP must see what is in the “hearts and minds” of African-American, Hispanic and Asian voters “and not just try to influence them by… the principles and dogma.”

“Pinciples…” Yeah, something Powell had at one point before he started opening up the State Department leak machine during the 2004 election. Again, one of the many reasons why he was fired. (Note: Andy Card asked for his resignation – it’s the same thing).

Principles such as strong borders and enforcement of immigration laws isn’t just a conservative issue – it’s an American issue. It’s what survey after survey shows what Americans want.

Yet on a greater note, it wasn’t “principle and dogma” but the lack thereof that cost us. We loset the conservative core message that kept us winning 5 of the last three presidential elections. Our message was convoluted and what message there was was being given by a false prophet of conservatism in John McCain. The reason Sarah Palin so energized the party is simply because she communicated the core beliefs that America has always believed in and looked for.

It was too little too late. Barack Obama one simply because he deluded Americans into thinking that he – not John McCain – was the true model of conservatism. Amazingly America bought it.

It’s good that Powell crossed party lines, but it’s a one way door. We don’t want him, or any like him any more. I hope he has a nice life on the otherside. He’s anathema with us true republicans.

When we clean house, we’ll once again occupy the White House.

It’s that simple.

War hero yes, served his nation, yes. An idiot, yes.

“Speaking with reporters after his appearance on NBC, Powell said that part of the reason he is supporting Obama is because he did not like the negative tone of John McCain’s campaign, which has noted the links between Obama and domestic terrorist William Ayers.

“It troubled me. We have two wars. We have economic problems, we have health problems. … Those are the problems the American people want to hear about, not about Mr. Ayers, not about who’s a Muslim and not a Muslim. Those kind of images going out on Al Jazeera are killing us around the world,” he said.

“I thought it was over the top. It was beyond just good political fighting back and forth. … We can’t judge our people and we can’t hold our elections on that kind of basis,” he added.

Powell, who described himself as still a Republican, added that he also doesn’t like the McCain camp’s decision to call Obama a socialist because he wants to raise taxes on individuals and businesses making more than $250,000 a year.

“Taxes are always a redistribution of money. Most of the taxes that are redistributed go back to those who pay it — in roads and airports and hospitals and schools — and taxes are necessary for the common good, and there’s nothing wrong with examining what our tax structure is and who should be paying more, who should be paying less. And for us to say that makes you a socialist I think is an unfortunate characterization and is inaccurate,” he said.”

Taxes are NEVER a redistribution of money in the way that Obama has phrased it, and there is everything wrong – in conservatism – in determining who should pay more and who should pay less.

What an absolutely clueless view of the ideologies involved. Additionally, how does he square the dangers of Al Qaeda that will be fought by a Commander in Chief who was comfy with a domestic terrorist and that will somehow make us feel safe?

It’s a good thing we found this out about him now, as he was once touted to be a rising star in the Party. He was never such a thing in my eyes, and now he will be less so in the party at large.

I hope he enjoys his exile.
