ACORN caught in yet ANOTHER case of voter fraud

Posted by Macranger on October 12th, 2006

Bring us your dead, and children (the children!) and ACORN will sign them up to vote:

“ST. LOUIS - Election officials say hundreds of potentially bogus registration cards, including ones for dead and underage people, were submitted by a branch of a national group that has been criticized in the past for similar offenses.

At least 1,500 potentially fraudulent registration cards were turned in by the St. Louis branch of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, leading up to Wednesday’s registration deadline for the Nov. 7 election, said Kim Mathis, chairwoman of the St. Louis City Board of Election Commissioners.

Invalid registrations solicited by ACORN workers included duplicate or incomplete ones, a 16-year-old voter, dead people registering, and forged signatures, Mathis said.

“Fifteen hundred may not sound like a lot, but it is a big deal and it disenfranchises the election process,” she said. “It’s time someone be prosecuted. There’s a lot of taxpayer dollars being wasted on this.”

Not the first time…..

AR 1998 A contractor with ACORN-affiliated Project Vote was arrested for falsifying about 400 voter registration cards.

CO 2004 An ACORN employee admitted to forging signatures and registering three of her friends to vote 40 times.

CO 2005 Two ex-ACORN employees were convicted in Denver of perjury for submitting false voter registrations.

FL 2004 A Florida Department of Law Enforcement spokesman said ACORN was “singled out” among suspected voter registration groups for a 2004 wage initiative because it was “the common thread” in the agency’s fraud investigations.

MI 2004 The Detroit Free Press reported that “overzealous or unscrupulous campaign workers in several Michigan counties are under investigation for voter-registration fraud, suspected of attempting to register nonexistent people or forging applications for already-registered voters.” ACORN-affiliate Project Vote was one of two groups suspected of turning in the documents.

MO 2003 Of 5,379 voter registration cards ACORN submitted in St. Louis, only 2,013 of those appeared to be valid. At least 1,000 are believed to be attempts to register voters illegally.

NC 2004 North Carolina officials investigated ACORN for submitting fake voter registration cards.

NM 2005 Four ACORN employees submitted as many as 3,000 potentially fraudulent signatures on the group’s Albuquerque ballot initiative. A local sheriff added: “It’s safe to say the forgery was widespread.”

NM 2004 An ACORN employee registered a 13-year-old boy to vote. Citing this and other examples, New Mexico State Representative Joe Thompson stated that ACORN was “manufacturing voters” throughout New Mexico.

OH 2004 A grand jury indicted a Columbus ACORN worker for submitting a false signature and false voter registration form. In Franklin County, two ACORN workers submitted what the director of the board of election supervisors called “blatantly false” forms. In Cuyahoga County, ACORN and its affiliate Project Vote submitted registration cards that had the highest rate of errors for any voter registration group.

MN 2004 During a traffic stop, police found more than 300 voter registration cards in the trunk of a former ACORN employee, who had violated a legal requirements that registration cards be submitted to the Secretary of State within 10 days of being filled out and signed.

PA 2004 Reading’s Director of Elections received calls from numerous individuals complaining that ACORN employees deliberately put inaccurate information on their voter registration forms. The Berks County director of elections said voter fraud was “absolutely out of hand,” and added: “Not only do we have unintentional duplication of voter registration but we have blatant duplicate voter registrations.” The Berks County deputy director of elections added that ACORN was under investigation by the Department of Justice.

TX 2004 ACORN turned in the voter registration form of David Young, who told reporters “The signature is not my signature. It’s not even close.” His social security number and date of birth were also incorrect.

VA 2005 In 2005, the Virginia State Board of Elections admonished Project Vote and ACORN for turning in a significant number of faulty voter registrations. An audit revealed that 83% of sampled registrations that were rejected for carrying false or questionable information were submitted by Project Vote. Many of these registrations carried social security numbers that exist for other people, listed non-existent or commercial addresses, or were for convicted felons in violation of state and federal election law.

In a letter to ACORN, the State Board of Elections reported that 56% of the voter registration applications ACORN turned in were ineligible. Further, a full 35% were not submitted in a timely manner, as required by law. The State Board of Elections also commented on what appeared to be evidence of intentional voter fraud. “Additionally,” they wrote, “information appears to have been altered on some applications where information given by the applicant in one color ink has been scratched through and re-entered in another color ink. Any alteration of a voter registration application is a Class 5 Felony in accordance with § 24.2-1009 of the Code of Virginia.”

WI 2004 The district attorney’s office investigated seven voter registration applications Project Vote employees filed in the names of people who said the group never contacted them. Former Project Vote employee Robert Marquise Blakely told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he had not met with any of the people whose voter registration applications he signed, “an apparent violation of state law,” according to the paper.

GOP want’s to see just what docs were in Berger’s socks

Posted by Macranger on October 11th, 2006

Overdue, but welcome.

Via AP:

“A group of House Republicans called Wednesday for a congressional investigation into the improper handling of classified documents by President Clinton’s national security adviser, Sandy Berger.

Berger admitted last year that he deliberately took classified documents out of the National Archives in 2003 and destroyed some of them at his office. He pleaded guilty in federal court to one charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material and was fined $50,000.

Ten lawmakers led by House Armed Services Chairman Duncan Hunter, R- Calif., and Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., released a letter calling for the House Government Reform Committee to investigate.”

I believe this is bigger than it appears, and there might be more to come. Something not already known has got their suspicions up. Keep an eye on it. Specifically watch the Clintonites hit the airwaves in the next couple of days defending Berger. They don’t want this case to get any more light than it needs.

Bill’s rant on Fox was only a foreshadow to what is to come.

What? You didn’t think the Republicans didn’t have a surprise or two?

Azzam the American new title - Traitor

Posted by Macranger on October 11th, 2006

Via Fox:

“WASHINGTON — The American Al Qaeda spokesman known as “Azzam the American” will be indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles, FOX News has confirmed.

Adam Yahiye Gadahn, whose exact whereabouts is unknown but is believed to be in Pakistan, is expected to be charged with material support and treason, sources told FOX News. It will be the first time an American has been charged with treason since 1952.

The treason charge, according to sources in Los Angeles and Washington, is based primarily on the statements Gadahn has made in his video presentations.

This may be prelude to his capture and return to the US for trial. I’ve got a feeling that he’s about to be captured and returned to the US for trial. Just a feeling.

In any case his indictment has elevated him to the Most Wanted Terrorist by the FBI. He also has a one million dollar bounty on his head (Honey, fetch me rucksack and rifle!).

If he is he would be subject to the death penalty, more more than likely we’d get him to give up a few others that we have interest in.

Godless Clueless Olbermann

Posted by Macranger on October 11th, 2006

Keith Olbermann, (who?) had on his show tonight a “teaser” about tomorrow night’s show where he is going to interview (drumroll) another former Bush administration staffer with grudge right before the election.

Do wonders ever cease.

“More than five years after President Bush created the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, the former second-in-command of that office is going public with an insider’s tell-all account that portrays an office used almost exclusively to win political points with both evangelical Christians and traditionally Democratic minorities.

The office’s primary mission, providing financial support to charities that serve the poor, never got the presidential support it needed to succeed, according to the book.

Entitled “Tempting Faith,” the book is not scheduled for release until Oct. 16, but MSNBC’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” has obtained a copy.

“Tempting Faith’s” author is David Kuo, who served as special assistant to the president from 2001 to 2003. A self-described conservative Christian, Kuo’s previous experience includes work for prominent conservatives including former Education Secretary and federal drug czar Bill Bennett and former Attorney General John Ashcroft.”

Yeah and Kuo worked for Monkey Business’s Gary Hart - so what? Bring it on. The book, “Tempting Faith”, sounds like another “get back” with “scandelous revelations” such as:

“Kuo, who has complained publicly in the past about the funding shortfalls, goes several steps further in his new book.

He says some of the nation’s most prominent evangelical leaders were known in the office of presidential political strategist Karl Rove as “the nuts.”

“National Christian leaders received hugs and smiles in person and then were dismissed behind their backs and described as ‘ridiculous,’ ‘out of control,’ and just plain ‘goofy,’” Kuo writes.

More seriously, Kuo alleges that then-White House political affairs director Ken Mehlman knowingly participated in a scheme to use the office, and taxpayer funds, to mount ostensibly “nonpartisan” events that were, in reality, designed with the intent of mobilizing religious voters in 20 targeted races.

According to Kuo, “Ken loved the idea and gave us our marching orders.”

Among those marching orders, Kuo says, was Mehlman’s mandate to conceal the true nature of the events.

Kuo quotes Mehlman as saying, “… (I)t can’t come from the campaigns. That would make it look too political. It needs to come from the congressional offices. We’ll take care of that by having our guys call the office [of faith-based initiatives] to request the visit.”

Like Rocky says, “That all ya got?” Rove called Pat Robertson goofy? Gee, I wonder there he got that idea? A (gasp) Ken Mehlman played …..(dum, de, dum -dum) “Politics!” Oh the shame!

Puuuleasseee…. Politicians have been “masking events” since the beginning of time. Bill Clinton was a master of it. In fact at Ron Brown’s funeral he managed to turn a laugh into tears in a split second. Talk about timing!

For the last five years the left and Olbermann has made a mockery of evangelicals and especially of Pat (hoof in mouth) Roberson, and the rest. But the biggest cricism has been that there is “too much” Christianity in the White House. Kuo says that’s not the case, that there were actually some heathens in the joint, just like back when Bill ran it.

Alas, another lame dog bomb shell goes down the toilet for liberals.

Secondly, Olbermann, like a lot of “godless liberals” is clueless on the so called “Evangelical Right”. Fact is that we are not ruled by the Pat Robertsons, or the James Dobsons, or any other so-called “evangelical leader”. We are ruled by faith in God. Thus we understand that while George Bush is a born again Christian, that may not be true for others around him. In any case it won’t change our vote.

That means that even while some of the Republicans may act like the Devil, we know for a fact that the Democratic Party is his workshop.

Plane crashes into highrise in NY

Posted by Macranger on October 11th, 2006

Breaking…

“A small aircraft crashed into a high-rise on the Upper East Side, setting off a fire and startling New Yorkers, police said. There were conflicting reports on whether the aircraft was a small plane or a helicopter.
Fire Department spokeswoman Emily Rahimi said an aircraft struck struck the 20th floor of a building on East 72nd Street. Witnesses said the crash caused a loud noise, and burning and falling debris was seen. Flames were seen shooting out of the windows. Video from the scene showed at least three apartments in the high rise fully engulfed in flames.

“There’s huge pieces of debris falling,” said one witness who refused to give her full name. “There’s so much falling now, I’ve got to get away.”

Whether anyone was injured was not known, and it was unclear if the crash was an act of terrorism.

The address of the building is 524 E. 72nd Street _ a 50-story condominium tower built in 1986 and located nearby Sotheby’s Auction House. It has 183 apartments, many of which sell for more than $1 million.

Via sources within the bureau not a suspected terrorist attack, however the FBI is still reponding to the scene. More to come.

UPDATE: More from MSNBC:

“There was no immediate word on any deaths or injuries or whether residents were home at the time of the crash. Officials at the Federal Aviation Administration and the FBI said there was no reason to believe the incident was terrorism-related.

Nonetheless, a military official at NORAD said that as an extra measure of security, there were “numerous fighter jet patrols” over several U.S. cities.”

UPDATE II: Hot Air with more updates and round ups. Allah says multiple sources said it was a helicopter. Suitecases also on the sidewalk. Looks like an accident.

UPDATE III: Via Fox, two deaths confirmed. FAA (via Fox), “A helicopter would be expected in that area of the city; no other aircraft should be around that part of Manhattan”

UPDATE IV: Reports that the plane was registered to a Yankee’s pitcher, Cory Lidle, who was piloting the plane which he just bought recently - that’s been confirmed he has perished. That would leave another fatality. Lidle is married and has one child.

More confirmations on Lidle, four bodies found, two in the apartment, two on the street. Lidle’s passport discovered.

ESPN confirms:

” A small plane piloted by New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle crashed into a 50-story condominium tower Wednesday on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, killing at least four people, authorities said.

Lidle died in the crash.”

UPDATE V: More information at Wizbang.

UPDATE VI: A Real Putz.

Yeah, but will he give back the $68,000 now?

Harry Reid’s house of cards is coming down.

“Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid collected a $1.1 million windfall on a Las Vegas land sale even though he hadn’t personally owned the property for three years, property deeds show.

In the process, Reid did not disclose to Congress an earlier sale in which he transferred his land to a company created by a friend and took a financial stake in that company, according to records and interviews.

The Nevada Democrat’s deal was engineered by Jay Brown, a longtime friend and former casino lawyer whose name surfaced in a major political bribery trial this summer and in other prior organized crime investigations. He’s never been charged with wrongdoing _ except for a 1981 federal securities complaint that was settled out of court.

Land deeds obtained by The Associated Press during a review of Reid’s business dealings show:

_The deal began in 1998 when Reid bought undeveloped residential property on Las Vegas’ booming outskirts for about $400,000. Reid bought one lot outright, and a second parcel jointly with Brown. One of the sellers was a developer who was benefiting from a government land swap that Reid supported. The seller never talked to Reid.

_In 2001, Reid sold the land for the same price to a limited liability corporation created by Brown. The senator didn’t disclose the sale on his annual public ethics report or tell Congress he had any stake in Brown’s company. He continued to report to Congress that he personally owned the land.

_After getting local officials to rezone the property for a shopping center, Brown’s company sold the land in 2004 to other developers and Reid took $1.1 million of the proceeds, nearly tripling the senator’s investment. Reid reported it to Congress as a personal land sale.

The complex dealings allowed Reid to transfer ownership, legal liability and some tax consequences to Brown’s company without public knowledge, but still collect a seven-figure payoff nearly three years later.

Reid hung up the phone when questioned about the deal during an AP interview last week.”

This is hugh. Because it also brings up questions of whether or not he properly reported it on his income tax returns, and other embarrassing questions.

Then again, there is that $68,000 of Abramoff money he doesn’t want to talk about or give back.

UPDATE I: Dingy reponds to reporter’s questions WITHOUT hanging up.

“”Everything I did was transparent,” Reid said. “I paid all the taxes. Everything is fully disclosed to the ethics committee and everyone else. As I said, if there is some technical change that the ethics committee wants, I’ll be happy to do that.”

Nice Harry, however….

“enate ethics rules require lawmakers to disclose on their annual ethics report all transactions involving investment properties - regardless of profit or loss - and to report any ownership stake in companies.

Kent Cooper, a former Federal Election Commission official who oversaw government disclosure reports for federal candidates for two decades, said Reid’s failure to report the 2001 sale and his ties to Brown’s company violated Senate rules.

“This is very, very clear,” Cooper said. “Whether you make a profit or a loss you’ve got to put that transaction down so the public, voters, can see exactly what kind of money is moving to or from a member of Congress.”

“It is especially disconcerting when you have a member of the leadership, of either party, not putting in the effort to make sure this is a complete and accurate report,” said Cooper. “That says something to other members. It says something to the Ethics Committee.”

Other parts of the deal - such as the informal handling of property taxes - raise questions about possible gifts or income reportable to Congress and the IRS, ethics experts said.”

What are Democrats fond of saying? Oh yeah, “It’s the coverup”. I think at this point Reid should resign his Senate Minority position pending a full ethics investigation.

UPDATE: AJ Strata agrees, and also American Thinker with more background on Reids sons who benefited from the deal.

Polling Koolaid

Posted by Macranger on October 11th, 2006

I hate polls, they’re nearly always run to make headlines.

Especially when they are so weighted to give a REALLY false impression. Via Newsbusters:

“Yet, nowhere did the authors let their readers know that 41 percent more Democrats were questioned for this survey than Republicans. That’s right. The breakdown was: 38 percent Democrats; 27 percent Republicans, and; 31 percent Independents. This was the largest skewing of Democrats to Republicans in a WaPo-ABC News poll since at least April. By contrast, in last month’s poll, the breakdown was 33 percent Democrats, 32 percent Republicans, and 30 percent Independents.

With this in mind, should it be at all surprising that President Bush’s job approval dropped by 3 percentage points since the September poll? Or that approval for the job Bush is doing in Iraq dropped by six points, and for the war on terror by eight?”

The only poll I even remotely pay attention to is the one which was the most accurate polling (and has been since), Rassmussen Reports, which currently has Bush at 41% approval and the Senate balance of power at 48/48 with two toss ups.

Turnout beats polling everytime people. All the democrats and the MSM hope to do is to surpress Republican turnout. Don’t let them win. We show - we win!

So….. GET OFF YOUR ASS AND VOTE!

Foley Setup? - Part XXIV - Let the MSM CYA begin

Posted by Macranger on October 11th, 2006

Well, at least they’re catching up!

Via the Washington Post:

“Two of the news media’s sources of Mark Foley’s sexually explicit instant messages to former House pages said this week that they came forward to expose the Florida congressman’s actions, not to help the Democrats in the midterm elections.

But there are indications that Democrats spent months circulating five less insidious Foley e-mails to news organizations before they were finally published by ABC News late last month, which prompted the leaking of the more salacious instant messages. Harper’s Magazine said yesterday that it obtained the five e-mails from a Democratic Party operative, albeit in May, long before the election season.

The genesis of the Foley story has become the subject of heated debate, as Republicans try to shift attention away from Foley’s misconduct and the slow reaction of House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert’s office to what they call a political hit just ahead of the midterm elections.

“Are we saying that a 15-year-old child would’ve sat on e-mails that were XXX-rated for three years and suddenly spring them out right on the eve of an election? That’s just a little bit too suspicious, even for Washington, D.C.,” Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) said on “Fox News Sunday” last weekend. On the same day, Rep. Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said he “never saw” the e-mails. “What you guys want to do is take your dirty laundry and throw it over the fence and try to blame other people,” he said.

But new information suggests that the story of the release of Foley’s communications with male ex-pages is more complicated than either side asserts.”

Do Tell!

Truth is that you are going to see the MSM begin to circle the wagons and start shooting at each other. The only reason you saw Silverstein come forward, as have others, is because withholding evidence of a crime IS a crime. I think that they are beginning to see that this entire thing could backfire and in a large way.

Fuzzy Math

Posted by Macranger on October 11th, 2006

Well, late to the game reference this (cough) report, reporting “excess death” in Iraq since the war started and gives this ridiculous figure or 655,000.

Hey, don’t you love election year reports from left wing think tanks?

Well let’s do the round a bout for reacts:

Gateway Pundit:

“This latest Lancet Study released today claims that 555,000 Iraqis have died in the last two years since their last controversial study! That comes to around 770 violent Iraqi deaths each day on average!!!
So, does this mean all of those headlines of 18 or 30 deaths were off by 700 or so?

John Hopkins ought to be ashamed!

Anyone familiar with the Iraq Body Count website knows that their estimate of Iraqi deaths - currently 43,850- 48,693 - may not be perfect since it includes bank robbers and heart attack victims but it is one estimate of the deaths from the Iraqi War that is widely used.

Back in 2003 a very controversial study came out claiming 100,000 Iraqis had died in the Iraqi War. This far exceeded the other reports at that time.

Today the liberal group released another one of their outlandish polls just in time for the election.”

Rick Moran

“Ms. Whitson’s take is interesting. There is “no reason to question the findings” of a study using, despite what Mr. Waldman says, questionable methodology 3 weeks before an election. She actually wishes critics would just sit back and shut up because – and here she inadvertently debunks the study herself - “there is very, very little reliable data coming out of Iraq.””

So in closing, “Liberal hacks throw another fuzz bomb before the election”. Nuff said.

I’m not going to give this hacked up report anymore importance that the paper my parrot craps on .

North Korea Nuking Again?

Posted by Macranger on October 10th, 2006

Michelle ask, Another test?

Nope, just an earthquake in Japan.

“A big earthquake off Japan has sparked rumours of a second nuclear test by North Korea, a US official says.

The US Geological Survey said it had detected a 5.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast off northern Japan and a US official said the temblor appeared to be the source of speculation that North Korea had tested another nuclear device.

The USGS said the quake at 9.58am Japan time (0958 AEST), was about 320km northeast of Tokyo, off the northeast coast of Japan’s main island of Honshu, at a depth of 30 km.

The earthquake may have triggered the speculation about a possible nuclear test by North Korea, which neither Japan nor the United States could confirm.”

We need to get this verification crap down!
