Yes, he came from South Korea with his parents when he was about 6 years old. He grew up in Virginia. Since he wasn't born here, he wouldn't be a citizen. He would have been too old to be here on his parents' visa so he had to get one of his own. He would have probably felt less at home in Korea than here, though, as any memories he had of Korea would have been as a person of kindergarten age. “From South Korea” is a little misleading.
