Over the years I’ve hammered Time for getting it wrong and when they’ve been unfair to President Bush. But this photo essay by two of Time’s photographers is getting it right.
It’s moving, it’s true and it’s appropriate.
Unlike the despicable display we witnessed yesterday during the inauguration, this is how you treat an ex-President, with respect.

1The one photo that affected me the most was of President Bush walking down a red carpeted hallway, alone. That pretty much says it for me. He was alone. Deserted by his own weak kneed party, deserted by the rest of the world, deserted by politicians who were more worried about their damn paychecks than they were about the security of the nation, he was alone in his battle against the one worst threat this nation has ever known, radical Islam.
The Democrats knew the only way to retake power was to destroy this man. And it became their primary goal. The hell with America, the hell with the American people, destroy, destroy, destroy President Bush.
And the media was all to willing to aid and abet the left wing. Joyously, gleefully, they aided the Democrats in the destruction of a president who took the words “perserve, protect and defend” to heart.
My pride in being an American has now been completely destroyed. Oh, I am still proud of our history, but I am not proud of where we are or what our future will be.
On January 20, 2009 we became a second rate nation.
