Fantastic, and so true. Most of my compadres in the IC voiced similiar frustration with the inaction of the Clinton Administration.

It’s not any secret why friends of the Clinton and the left do not want to see the real story to be told, but it will be as not only is ABC airing “Path to 9/11″, but there are other similiar works coming forth as well. Many, many former IC people as well as FBI, DOS are beginning to step forward as well.

It was a gathering of all the supposed experts on Islamic Fundalmentalism, across the broad spectrum of the US Intel Community: everyone was there, FBI, CIA, NSA, all the Military Branches, State, etc…

It was three days long, if I remember correctly, and held in an FBI Bldg down in Quantico, VA.

It became readily apparent, that we were witnessing a very diverse group of Analysts.

That was fine, it was for the exchange of information, ideas, contact information, and a unified response to the growing threat.

But, while I was focusing on trying to convince people, that it was important that we understand Salafiyyah, the Sufic-nature of Bin Laden and his cohorts and the Blind Sheikh, utilize this as a way to Profile them, and seek them out; get aggressive and set up various ideas I had for “trapping” them (I won’t provide details here..), it was obvious we were getting “pushback” from the senior CIA and FBI people in attendance, who were “running” the show.

I specifically remember the main State Dept Intel rep, who after 2.5 days of frustration, went off on a major Rant aimed directly at the FBI/CIA senior folks, and he said very prophetically, unfortunately as it turned out…that the CIA’s/FBI’s refused, to share “intel”, not only with us, but EACH OTHER, was going to…”…get thousands of Americans killed someday…”

Wow, was he ever correct!

But, he was basically gladhanded, and given some pablum about we have to “protect our sources”, though we hear your concern type of thing.

Meanwhile, I was being sniped at, constantly, because “…your Islamic knowledge is too advanced…” for the rest of us to figure what I was talking about…

You see, only one other analyst, that I’m aware of, a lady, and I think she was from DOT!, understood things I was talking about like Salafiyyah, Qutbiyyah, Jihiliyyah, Syed Qutb, Hassan al Banna, ibn Tamiyyah, Wahabiyyah, the Sufic origins of the Ikhwan under Banna, etc., etc.

Anyway, finally, on the wrap up, the State Rep and I were hammering the CIA/FBI guys again, and telling them that the Blind Sheik, and bin Laden, were connected, if not in acutality, but then in intent, and philosophy, and that that was what was important, to track the Philosophy!

I got a cold stare from the senior CIA guy, and he said to me…and I’ll never forget it: “…I hear what you’re saying, but the Oval Office is NOT interested in your message….!”

They don’t want to hear it!

And that, was that!

Several months later, due to a combination of personal and marital issues, I left the Intel Community.

I’ve never given up the guilt I’ve felt, since 9/11, for leaving, and not FORCING the bastards to understand, nor listen!

But, the message was clear to me: Clinton/Clarke were NOT interested in the message that I had!
