During the last two months several so-called setbacks failed to depress the evangelical right, one was the Foley incident, then the David Kuo book and interviews followed lately by the Haggard set-up. All of these events, while not excusing the behavior or Foley or Haggard, were specifically designed to discourage evangelicals and get them to give up on Republicans.

Yet like a lot of the plans of the left it didn’t work as none of these things will affect evangelical turnout. In fact I expect a larger than normal turnout in spite of all that has been thrown at us to get us not to show up.

Democrats are constantly misjudging the evangelicals and what makes us tick. It’s not any one person or a group of people. We worship God and support those who have demostrated that they do to. George Bush has faced much of his criticism as President not becuse of his policies or actions, but from day one because of his faith. The left always mocks the power of faith in God, and time and time again they get the just deserts of that behavior.

While again, polls are essentially NADA at this point (as they never truly predict outcome), still they are showing the so-called lead of the Democrats shrinking to 5-6 points on the Generic Ballot.

Yet I never bought the fact that they truly had a double digit lead in the first place. If the poll democrats weren’t so ridiculously slanted towards democrats you would actually see much larger margins in the Republican’s favor. Still, in the final analysis it’s going to come back to YOU getting out to vote.
