Let the fact checking begin! I told you that Bill Clinton stuck his foot in that big old piehole of his. The administration had a quick push back for Clinton’s history rewrite tyrade, as Condi Rice takes him to task:
“Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice yesterday accused Bill Clinton of making “flatly false” claims that the Bush administration didn’t lift a finger to stop terrorism before the 9/11 attacks.
Rice hammered Clinton, who leveled his charges in a contentious weekend interview with Chris Wallace of Fox News Channel, for his claims that the Bush administration “did not try” to kill Osama bin Laden in the eight months they controlled the White House before the Sept. 11 attacks.
“The notion somehow for eight months the Bush administration sat there and didn’t do that is just flatly false – and I think the 9/11 commission understood that,” Rice said during a wide-ranging meeting with Post editors and reporters.
“What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton administration did in the preceding years,” Rice added.”
You know that she is right. The fact is that there is no comparison between eight years and eight months. Basically what Clinton handed Bush was a powerkeg and told him “Good luck”, then he went to help Hillary move some furniture. As Condi rightly refutes the oft told Clinton lie that they “briefed” the Bush Administration on Al Qaeda.
“The secretary of state also sharply disputed Clinton’s claim that he “left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy” for the incoming Bush team during the presidential transition in 2001.
“We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al Qaeda,” Rice responded during the hourlong session.”
That’s a fact as Byron York writes today the whole “plan” talk that got traction during 2002, was in fact a figment of Democratic imaginations – like a lot of their rhetoric.
In the eight years Clinton had Somalia, WTC-1, Kohbar Towers, USS Cole, while the Bush administration had zero events prior to his tenure. There is simply no comparison.
I don’t believe Clinton – as he a pathological liar – thought anyone would push back and fact check him as is being done now, but since he opened his trap and made this an election issue it’s about time we got it all out on the table for people to see.

1Putting the NIE Out to Pasture…
This aspect of the story always seems to be underreported and overlooked, but it should be the biggest part of the story – who is leaking these classified documents at the CIA and what will be done to stop it….

4Good catch, Dale in Atlanta.
Ironic, don’t you think? Al Quida seems to have had the same problem with Zarquawi that we had with Toricelli (D, NJ). “CIA and other intel orgs shall have no employees nor informants who are not pure as the driven snow.”
(Tongue firmly in cheek there).

5Oops, forgot what I had intended to post: On the Clinton & company claim to have left everything peachy-keen for the Bush Administration, does anyone else recall how botched up the transition was, because Al Gore was running a second “transition” and Clinton declined to give Bush the normal access an incoming Admin has ‘until the Supreme Court ruling’?
Everything that’s normally set to go on Inauguration Day, couldn’t start until just under the wire, and then had to be delayed when the Bush team discovered every computer keyboard had a missing “w,” doors and cabinets were stuck closed with Crazy glue, and all kinds of juvenile antics and vandalism had to be corrected.

6Yeah, Merry…according to the GAO, $250,000 worth of vandalism and filthy graffiti. And don’t forget furniture and art worth millions stolen by the Clintons.
