“Like all who have held this office before me, I have experienced setbacks. There are things I would do differently if given the chance. Yet I have always acted with the best interests of our country in mind. I have followed my conscience and done what I thought was right. You may not agree with some tough decisions I have made. But I hope you can agree that I was willing to make the tough decisions.”
Gateway Pundit said it best. “He Liberated Millions… He Kept Us Safe”. GP also notes the many accomplishment for which history will ultimately agree and vindicate his honor.
Amen to that.
UPDATE: Here’s the prepared speech. Note the contrast in the LA Times report. President Bush’s graciousness to Barack Obama and Barack Obama’s disrepect, going out of his way to be out on the town.
Stay classy Barry.

1Good Bye President George W Bush….we love you. It’s about time you come back to Texas…we Texans are proud of you and welcome you home with lots of open arms.
I know you and Laura are thrilled to get the hell out of the evil hole on the east coast.
We appreciate you and those that don’t will sooner than they have any idea. ;o)

2I listened to your speech with tears in my eyes, because I am so sorry it is time for you to leave. You did your duty as President and so much more-I worry about whether we will be safe when you are gone.
I know there is much that you couldn”t say-but one day historians will fill in the blanks. Then they will know why we are in Iraq-and so many other things that you never revealed for it would have made you more popular, but threatend our safety.
Thank You for your staunch commitment to Israel-I fear for them too!!!
May G-d bless you and your family.

I’m not so sure about the last part of that sentence, Sir; those people amount to “True Believers” and are probably immune to any coming reality.
I totally agree with your sentiment. I voted twice for him, and would not hesitate to do so again if I had it to do over.

4It’s all been said above.
I too watched with tears in my eyes as this good man said goodbye.
He will be missed and perhaps even those who have done no more than spew hatred at him will come to realize one day that each and every move he made was in the interest of keeping this country safe.
May his retirement be spent in peace and away from the vultures in Washington and the press.
