“The Obama administration is going into tonight’s pivotal speech to Congress with the belief that President Obama has accomplished more in the first 30 days in office than any modern president. The president will give the nation a “sober assessment” about the status of the country’s economy tonight as he assures Americans that there are “better days ahead,” according to White House spokesman Robert Gibbs.
Obama will address a joint meeting of Congress tonight in a speech that will be shown live on national television, giving the president a chance to sketch out his agenda for the country after having authorized a massive $787 billion stimulus package as well as a $75 billionhomeowner bailout.
It will also allow the administration to brag a bit.
“President Obama has accomplished more in 30 days than any president in modern history,” a senior White House official said today in a background briefing.”
Right. First, most of what he’s bragging about is on paper but hasn’t yet – and most likely won’t pan out in reality. Frankly he’s writing checks with his mouth that in the long run won’t cash.
But here’s what has panned out in THE ONE’s first 30 days:
1. The Stock Market has dipped more than 2500 points since he took office, as Wall Street and investors give a decided “No” vote to Obama’s economic plans. Most of the drop could be blamed on the fear Obama spreads by threatening “catastrophe” if his stimulus wasn’t passed. Points to lack of leadership.
2. Gas has risen from $1.60 a gallon to $2.10, and will go as high as $2.50 before spring. Most of which is based on the Obama administration’s focus on alternate fuels.
3. Threw a 827 Billion dollar albatros around America’s neck and called it a stimulus, we have only a short while before the magnitude of this blunder is realized – in fact it already has – see #1.
4. Has crafted a budget that is already being torn apart by financial experts.
Quite frankly it’s nothing to write home about, much less brag.
