Sit down, take out a piece of paper and a pen and write a letter expressing your thoughts in a calm and respectful manner to each of your Senators and your Congressional representative. That’s it, just three letters.

Those three letters in your own words and in your own hand will carry more weight than a million signatures on a web petition or form letter.

As ranking member of the House Ethics Committee, I believe it is your duty to initiate a full-scale, immediate investigation of Speaker Pelosi and Tom Lantos who both have been conducting illegal diplomatic missions to Syria in violation of the Logan Act! It is particularly shocking to hear the blatant statements coming from Ms Pelosi who seems to believe herself a Prime Minister or a Secretary of State. This is inexcusable and dangerous to the interests of our country during a time of war and to SYRIA (one of the nations who are arming and supporting terrorists all over the middle east and, who in turn, are killing our Soldiers and Marines in Iraq!!

If this blatant usurpation of the Constitutional duty of the Commander-in-Chief and President of the United States is not STOPPED immediately, I fear for catastropic damage to this country. This serious matter can not and should not be simply ignored or dealt with quietly behind closed doors. Speaker Pelosi is not worthy of the enormous trust given her as the new Speaker of the House. It is NOT her job to second guess the President or to undermine all our efforts in the middle east.

I STRONGLY urge the ranking member to push for a full-scale PUBLIC investigation of the speaker’s indefensible treachery. There is no excuse for this and ignoring it will only encourage similar behavior in the future. Imagine the nightmare senario of any congressional leader who takes it upon themselves to conduct their own foreign policy to suit themselves! It makes me sick and VERY angry! The Speaker must resign from her duties AND the House- but if all that can be done is a strong PUBLIC dressing down then DO IT!!! There is no need to be respectful to someone who has not earned respect. This is one of the most shameful days in the history of the Congress and it looks from here to just get worse if we let it.

Don’t let this matter go quietly away. It is critical to the future of this country and its laws which are being violated by a political party’s leadership driven mad with ambition.

Both sides have been afraid of a return to the ethics wars of the ’90s but without a functioning ethics committee there is no one regulating the public behavior of the members of Congress. We don’t need another battle of the branches, we need the legislative branch needs to police itself through a functioning ethics process. If they discover law breaking along the way, they can refer the matter to DOJ for prosecution.

Let’s get the politics out of this stuff and get the system working again.
