You know that I’ve said on a few occasions that hearings into the interrogation program used by the Bush Administration would be a good ideal.
Now in light of the fact that Nancy Pelosi has been found to be a liar and in fact did know about the program back in 2002, Pete Hoekstra wants more accountability.
“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is under renewed fire after the Obama administration released documents that critics say contradict her claim that she was never told that U.S. detainees were being waterboarded.
Rep. Pete Hoekstra (Mich.), the top Republican on House Intelligence, in an interview Friday said the document proves that Pelosi knew waterboarding occurred but has denied is because of political pressure from the liberal base of her party.
“Clearly her left wing is outraged that waterboarding was used,” Hoekstra said. “The bottom line is she and her key staff, they all knew about it.”
Now that these documents have been released, Hoekstra is calling for additional CIA documents to be made public including some that he has read that provide a more complete account of what was discussed in lawmaker briefings.
He is also considering calling for congressional hearings on what members knew and when they knew it.
“I wouldn’t have a problem with the intelligence committee or the Judiciary Committee having hearings on this,” he said. “If [House Judiciary Chairman] John Conyers [D-Mich.] wants to have hearings, they shouldn’t call in the Department of Justice attorneys as their first witnesses. The first people that should be called in and held accountable ought to be Congress.”
Hoekstra also indicated he is considering sending Conyers a letter requesting such hearings.”
It’s a damn good idea. The hearings won’t show any wrong doing, indeed what was being done was at the time legal and necessary, but it will show democrats to be the hypocrites they are and might even be a boon to showcase just how they politicized the war on terror for their own gain.
Just in time for the 2010 midterms.

1Mac, it seems that Leon Panetta is willing to throw the CIA under the bus to try to protect Pelosi, fellow Democrat traveler.
Now, here is my question; as we have seen certain rogue elements of the CIA out to destroy Bush (Larry Johnson and his band of merry mavericks), and Panetta is willing to now throw those very CIA types under the bus to try to protect Pelosi, are we going to get more leaks that will damage the credibility of the Democrats on the “torture” memos?
When it comes down to the nut cutting, with CIA protect it’s own against Democrats or will they allow Panetta to indicate they are incompetent boobs?
The CIA has a hellofa choice now; agency loyality protecting their own arses or party loyality. If they back the agency, they will make Democrats look bad. If they back the Democrats, they will look incompetent.
Not a position I would want to be in.
