Time for spintcher twitching...
“On Jan. 20, an unobtrusive military officer carrying a small leather-bound metal briefcase will follow President George W. Bush up to Capitol Hill. After the inauguration ceremony, he will accompany President Barack Obama back to the White House.
Inside the attaché, known as “the football,” are the codes to identify and authenticate a presidential order that could launch nuclear weapons and ignite a global holocaust.
Routine to us, perhaps astonishing to much of the world, this peaceful passing of “the football” will propel Obama into a maelstrom. What awaits the new commander in chief is the weighty responsibility of defending the United States – and a nasty brew of nuclear weapons problems that range from the threat of terrorist attacks to potential new regional and superpower arms races. Iran and North Korea are rushing headlong toward building nuclear arsenals. And the main arms reduction treaty with Russia expires next year.”
Kind of makes you feel all warm and sunny eh? What, not yet? Well remember this?
How do you feel now?

2I think it should go without saying that for the most part the American people trust Barack Obama to be a competent Commander-In Chief. There`s no way that the launch codes for the world`s largest and most powerful Nuclear arsenal would be entrusted with him if people didn`t think he had what it takes to be President. He may not be all that experienced, but he`s a captivating, brilliant, eloquent and capable figure to sit in the Oval office.I have no doubt that not only can Obama be a great President but that he is up to the task of carrying the fate of the world on his shoulders. It`s not a responsibility to be entered into lightly.Like I said there`s no way that he would`ve won the election if the guy didn`t have the brass balls needed to be President.John McCain and the Gop made a mistake in writing off the importance of hope as mere gossamer. It was about hope, hope for change and inspiration versus experience.People need to believe that no matter how dark things get that there will be a new dawn.Obama `s a symbol of that for so many people, now obviously the guy is not the Messiah but hope and inspiration coupled with idealism and realism-make for a powerful formula.Because experience isn`t always everything.Yes it can matter, but it only gets it`s value from the person who has it. Look the bottom line is that Obama isn`t going to disarm America. That would be foolish and extraordinarily dangerous in a climate where countries like Iran and Syria as well as with terrorist factions are scrambling to get their hands on the technology. How else would America protect itself from it`s enemies? No,what I think he will do is govern wisely and seek diplomacy before military action. But like I always say countries around the world know that Nuclear weapons are insurance and as long as they exist America must have them as a Nuclear deterrent.I believe in Barack Obama as so many others in America and around the world do.
He`ll get this job done right.
