I warned you, now it’s getting closer to reality. In the latest effort at political suicide, Democrats are looking for ways to supplement those who have not with your paycheck.

“WASHINGTON – House Democrats drafting health care legislation are considering slapping an unspecified financial penalty on anyone who refuses to purchase affordable health insurance, officials said Monday.

These officials, who include both Democrats and lobbyists briefed on the emerging proposal, also said top lawmakers may call for a new tax on certain health insurance benefits as one of numerous options to help pay for expanding coverage to the uninsured. No details were immediately available, and no final decisions are expected until next week at the earliest.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt a presentation set for Tuesday for members of the House Democratic rank and file.”

Well, now that cat is out of the bag give your congressional representatives a call and let them know how you feel. It’s not likely that if they hear enough of you that they will take the chance of voter backlash – which is already taking place around the country. President Obama voiced opposition during the campaign when John McCain floated the same idea, by saying “a multitrillion-dollar tax hike would be — the largest middle-class tax hike in history!”

Even if the House squeaks this through it’s unlikely to pass in the Senate, as I called the office of Senator Martinez to insure he’s on board.
