It’s been a horrible day for Democrats. But such is what happens when you sell your soul….
Oh, who am I kidding, they have no soul.
As you know General Patraeus is giving his testimony on the hill right now and is pretty much throwing back all the garbage thrown at him. I’ll have more analysis later as I’m preparing for a trip tomorrow – September 11th.
But it’s been a very bad day for Democrats. Helped out by Moveon.org’s calling of General Patraeus a liar a move which has Democrat’s looking as lame as a one legged man in a butt-kicking contest. Couple this with the broads from Code Pink who showed up again to rant only to be shown to be the clueless twits they are. But they – as is Moveon.org the face of the Democratic party.
Blue Crab Boulevard makes the point that this is most likely the day that puplic opinion for Democrats begins a nose dive from which they will not recover before 2008.
Every Democrat candidate for President who has taken money from Moveon.org which now have to answer to the American people. They’re not going to denounce Moveon.org or any affliliation with any other leftwing nut group. They’re bought and paid for and they know it.

3You’ve forgotten Adm. Ryan Crocker…in his brilliant civil way….he’s killing the rats with his stats. Of course, the General is doing the same but WOW!!! the Adm. is doing one hell of a job. Both are brilliant men…Bush once agains picks brilliant men. I love the fact that adults with this administration are once again in control.

4When, in the history of our nation, have generals been required to testify in front of Congress at a time of war? Did Eiserhower, Patton, Bradley, McArthur, et al have to leave the theatre to testify and take them away from their primary goal, victory?
The Democrats have shown themselves to be the dispicable, loser socialists they are. Were I a Republican candidate my first question to my opponent would be “Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, how much money have you taken from George Soros and MoveOn.org and do you agree with their attacks on General Petraeus?”
Average Americans, especially those in fly-over country, while they made be registered Democrats will not take the bashing of our leading general in the field in Iraq, lightly. This slime should be shouted to the rooftops and people should be made to understand “this is what the Democrat Party now stands for”.

5Excellent post, Mac. Bought and paid for indeed. And we all know by whom.
How their consciences, however small, must be gnawing away at them. Watch their faces tomorrow…they will be contorted. One can’t keep the Hound from Heaven out of one’s conscience 100% of the time.
And G_d speed on your travels tomorrow. You are in His hands.

Unfortunately, there is a precedent: the Civil War “Joint Committee on the Conduct of the War” which was established after the disaster at First Manassas (Bull Run). It hauled officers up in front of it for testimony similarly to this lot.

7[...] There are some folks who didn't like my particular take on the MoveOn smear on General David Petraeus. There are some who agree. Oddly enough, those who agree that MoveOn was over the top on this happen to be some big name Democratic politicians. Like John Kerry. “I don’t like any kind of characterizations in our politics that call into question any active duty, distinguished general,” Kerry told CNN, adding “who I think under any circumstances serves with the best interests of our country.” [...]

8Thanks, Cato, I had forgotten about that. But I would love to think what Patton would have told Congress today.
