Spent the better part of five hours voting “early” here in Broward County Florida. A couple of observations.
1. In spite of what some may think, of the three or four hundrend there, I didn’t see a lot of Obama support outside of a couple of young people holding up an Obama banner. There was one table loaded with McCain/Palin banners, pins, stickers, etc. And they handed out water as well. Best I could see there were no Obama tables, or supporters handing out anything, not even water.
2. My wife who is Korean needed help and they were very good allowing me to help her as usual. However, one of the poll workers told my wife that “There is only one real choice honey”, that I took to mean Obama. I turned her over a poll supervisor.
3. On point number one, during the 2004 election it seemed that every 1 out of five cars had a Kerry/Edwards sticker on it. Broward is infested with liberal democrats. However this time around you barely see any Obama/Biden stickers at all, which considering how we are being told that he’s running away with here, it just doesn’t wash.
However, I did meet a lot of McCain/Palin supporters in the line, a lot of them. They were enthusiastic and energized. Not demoralized as you might have heard.
A bonus, from what I’m hearing Amendment 2, the ban on Gay marriage is on it’s way to passage. This in spite of misleading commercials showing seniors “shacking up” and not ones featuring Gay and Lesbian couples.
All in all an enlightening experience and confirmed my stance that this is closer – much closer – than the media and all their slanted polls would have us believe.
Moral? Get out and Vote! Let’s surprise the bastards!
