After the Gabby Giffords shooting, police are beginning to focus on and tighten down on threatening figures during political rallies. After this ruckus in Orlando, local law enforcement is considering screening individuals entering such events in the future.
“Two Orlando police officers moved to the front of the room and flanked Webster and pleaded for decorum when the congressman could no longer be heard.
“It’s not going to be solved by yelling and screaming and hollering,” one officer said. “Let’s conduct ourselves like grown people.”
The meeting never turned violent, and no one was asked to leave. Webster appeared flustered at times but remained calm and never raised his voice.”
According to what I’ve been told other measures may be brought into action as well. Such as alerting to fringe groups such as Moveon.org who for this event planted the protestors and equipped them with scripts to disrupt the crowd. Individuals flagged as coming with an agenda and who may considered even a remote danger to the speaker will be barred and asked to leave.
These “protesters” really had no constructive contribution, many of them only reading from the talking points emailed to them telling them to focus on the lie of “Republicans want to strip your Medicare and veterans benefits (none of which is true), and that the GOP wants to kill seniors, etc. Thus they have no useful purpose at these events other than to stir up and invoke emotions that often times can lead to violence.
Being that I’m from the South Florida area I’m already on the ground for several planned events to help identify such Groups before hand, as I long ago joined their mailing lists.
The event in Orlando was planned beforehand as several emails from Moveon.org and Organize Now detail. As I receive them I’ve forwarded the most vitriol ones to law enforcement to help them identify problems before they occur.
