Released on a holiday no doubt as to not tank Apple’s rising stock, but beyond the tech, it’s a human story.
“Steven P. Jobs, the co-founder and chief executive of Apple, is taking a medical leave of absence, a year and a half after his return from a liver transplant, the company said on Monday.
Mr. Jobs announced his leave in a letter to employees, saying he was stepping aside “so I can focus on my health” but would continue to be involved in major strategic decisions at the company.
“I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can,” Mr. Jobs said.”
As you know Jobs underwent surgery for Pancreatic cancer six years ago. In 2009 he had a liver transplant, which indicates the disease had spread. Hopefully is just a trip for “reinforcement” treatment, but as a cancer patient myself I know that most times this is because of a complication. How major or minor is speculation. Let’s just hope for Mr. Jobs, his family and fans that it’s a minor bump in the road in his battle with cancer.
Get well soon Steve, looking forward to seeing you introduce the newest/greatest thing at Apple.
