There is a petition before US District Judge in Miami by a Jon Corbett, which asks that that the court block the TSA from using enhanced security procedures before the upcoming holiday travel season. The judge ruling will be Marcia G. Cooke, a Bush I appointee, who – although controversially – presided over the trial of José Padilla in 2007. She is described as a staunch civil libertarian.
The case number 1:10-cv-24106-MGC was filed by Corbett on November 16.
According to two sources within the court there will be a ruling either Monday or Tuesday issuing an injunction against the TSA from using the controversial procedures.
Stay tuned.
