Seems I’m not alone in my lack of being impressed with the coming new version of Microsoft’s Office for Mac 2011. As you know I recommended it a “No Buy” simply because they borked the Outlook program by making it incompatible for calendaring for everything except Exchange 2007 and above. If you use iCal, Gmail or any other calendaring your out of luck on Office 2011. This is simply unacceptable for a Mac user. David writes:

“Microsoft says that it’s aware of all the bugs I’ve listed here, and intends to fix them early next year. (Most of the missing mail commands, however, will remain missing.)

O.K., what? You *knew* about these bugs, but you’re selling this software anyway?

Sure, other companies do that. But that doesn’t make it any less sleazy when Microsoft does it.”

This “sleaziness” has been standard with the Mac Business unit for years. They simply refuse to release a product that fits the “Mac View” of how the world should compute and I for one have had it. I’ll never use another MS product on my Mac again until they get their act together.

Again, avoid this upgrade. Do not pay for substandard performance.
