To watch liberals over the years defend – not the innocent – but the guilty has taught me one important truth.

Liberals are morally bankrupt. Of course it’s envitable since liberalism – excuse me – “progressivism”, at it’s core is morally bankrupt. Take for instance this defense of the New Black Party from over at the Daily Dish:

“No one disputes that two members of the Panthers lurked outside of a heavily black, Democratic polling place in Philadelphia on election day 2008, and no one thinks this was a smart or legal thing for them to do. Police were called to the scene to disperse them, and King Samir Shabazz, who was filmed holding (though not using) a nightstick, lost the right to be a poll-watcher for the next election cycle. It was the only recorded incident like this in the nation; nearly two years later, no voter has come forward and said he or she was prevented from voting by the Panthers. And in his publicity tour to attack the DOJ over the Panther case — a second-rate case against a fifth-rate hate group — J. Christian Adams has been unable to name any case in which the DOJ was presented with a crime committed by black people and chose not to prosecute it.”

Which is incorrect. The case had already been closed. All the DOJ had to do was to proceed with a prosecution which based on the admission of guilt from the NBP was a “slam dunk”. As we learned this week there was more to that “choice”, it was in fact simply because the DOJ has a “Don’t prosecute Blacks who Terrorize Whites” policy. But I digress, this is only one example.

Remember how liberals lined up to defend mass murderer “Tookie” Williams. Tom Hayden:

“Tookie Williams went to his death with all the dignity and serenity that is possible in an execution process that is meant to terrify and degrade. There are many possible reasons for his inner strength. To deny his tormenters any satisfaction could be one. But I think he believed that if he had to die, it was a meaningful martyrdom that sent a lasting message to the world. His legend and his life lessons will continue to be studied, debated, embraced. His courage will be remembered. History may well absolve him.”

Of course he leaves out the fact that Tookie Williams slaughtered four people during robberies:

“Williams was convicted of murdering four innocent bystanders with a sawed-off shotgun in 1979. There was nothing peaceful or compassionate about the way [Albert Owens], Thsai-Shai Yang, Yen-I Yang and Yee Chen Lin died. Owen[s] was a white teen-age clerk at a 7-11 convenience store, shot twice in the back of the head — execution-style — as he lay unarmed on the floor during a hold-up. A witness testified that Williams mocked the gurgling sounds Owen[s] made as he lay dying. “You should have heard the way he sounded when I shot him,” the witness quoted Williams.”

More recently liberals glowed over the life of former KKK member Robert Bryd, who back in the day would hung Tookie from a tree. The list could go on but the strange and almost psychopathic defense of the guilty by liberals is something which should be studied more in depth.
