Keep your eyes pealed on the Apple Store today.

According to a slew of sources Apple will not only update the Macbook Pro, which haven’t been updated since 2009, but the Mac Mini is said to be getting a face lift as well. Last updated in 2007 it’s the longest in-sevice system Apple sells. So what about the Macbooks?

Same sources says that they fully expect Apple to keep them at the current Core 2 configuration. Apple has long been criticized for blurring the difference between the consumer and pro versions of it’s laptops and after tomorrow that will exist. So why the Mac Mini.

Well it’s seen it’s share of “death notices” since it’s introduction in 2005, but it still remains a viable and best selling player. Updating it really a no-brainer. Many use it as a desktop machine and putting an i3 in it will give it more than a needed boost in it’s core purpose people use it for, namely music, video and movie downloading.

Expect the Apple Store to go down about 10am EST and be up about Noon with the new refreshes.

Pricing is expected to be near the same as current models bucking the rumors that there would be a $100-300 premium on new systems because of the chips.

UPDATE: Well we got the refreshes. Appleinsider has the specs. A couple of thoughts. The Mac Mini tip didn’t pan out. The Macbook Pro 13″ did. 1 for 2. However, the lack of USB 3.0 and BlueRay is astonishing. Apple finally catches up with the rest of the market on CPUs but keeps a 12 year old technology on USB? Further this “war” Apple has with Blue Ray is getting old. The only reason Apple doesn’t use BlueRay is because of iTunes.

Enough already. I won’t be upgrading this Late 2008 Macbook Pro until those two things are included.
