Lots of backslapping going on the left. Democrats are giddy, the MSM is fawning over Nancy Pelosi as “The Greatest Woman in the last 100 Years”. Mark Halperin at Time is threatening the GOP that they had better not repeal Obamacare or face the wrath of the media.
But who is the hero here? It’s not the Democrats, it’s the Republicans. They, not the Democrats, fulfilled their constitutional duty, they represented the people. The people didn’t want this bill, poll after poll showed that. Democrats scuttled that in favor of TV face time, payback, hate of American principles, whatever, but it wasn’t for the people. Let’s get that straight first and foremost.
Democrats showed America exactly what conservatives have been telling them all along. That their opinion meant nothing. That as far are they were concerned Americans were too “stupid” to know what was good for them, that they – the Democrats – are the rightful deciders of what is right and wrong for America.
Republicans on the other hand stood in the gap, represented the people, protected the nation against further economic harm. While the media touts a “huge success” for Democrats in passing healthcare, it wasn’t. After all after November they had huge majorities in both houses, the Presidency, yet Republicans – and the American people – kept them from passing this bill until Sunday, a full eight months after they attempted to pass it last year.
Today Democrats will celebrate the passing – not of healthcare for Americans, but shackles for those who will now pay the price for their arrogance and disregard of their rights and wishes. Let’s then not call them anything but villains.
