Sarah Palin Resigns as Governor ***UPDATE: It’s Official – It’s About 2012 **** Lefty Rumor About Coming Indictments False

Just in…

“WASILLA, Alaska – Sarah Palin plans to resign as governor of Alaska in a few weeks, KTUU-TV reported Friday.

Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, made the announcement at her home Friday morning, the station said.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will take over at the end of the month, KTUU reported.

With her at the announcement were Parnell and most of her cabinet.

There was no immediate word as to why she will step down before the end of her first term, though some have speculated in the past that she may be interested in running for president in 2012.”

This is already being torn apart by the liberal media that stepping down will hurt her as she will not finish her term. Let’s not forget that Obama didn’t finish his first term as Senator in order to run for President.

I’ve received an email from the Palin people who tell me that this move is in fact to run for President in 2012. Whether or not stepping down from the Governorship is a bad move will remain to be seen, but Sarah has always said that if her desires for national office got in the way of her job as Governor she’d quit.

I believe this makes sense.

Additionally, letters signed by Palin have been distributed in force in the last few weeks that ask for funds for her PAC.

Here’s her statement via email from her office..

“I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path,” said Governor Palin after the announcement. “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘Lame Duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose. It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success. I look forward to helping others – to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops, and energy independence.”

The transfer of power will occur following the Governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 26. At that point in time, Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will be sworn in and Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume his role as Lieutenant Governor.

Governor Palin will spend July 4th in Juneau.

One thing is for sure, the expected avalanche of lefty slobbering and speculation of why comes, it will only embolden her chances for President.

UPDATE: As to my friends on the right who say that stepping down from the Governorship kills her chances of becoming President let me remind them, NONE of them at the beginning thought Barack Obama would beat Hillary Clinton in the primaries much less win the Presidency.

We live in changing times. Fifteen months from now when the 2012 primaries ramp up Sarah Palin will be the front runner, you can mark those words.

UPDATE: Sarah’s speech is being played on Fox News now. I’ll have the video up shortly.

UPDATE: A political guru here in South Florida – a Democrat by the way – calls this a shrewd move, and even a smart move. Again, think of the attention span of the American people. A year and a half from now this will be a drop in the bucket as America mired in failed policies of Barack Obama look for someone to restore fiscal accountability and sanity.

Here’s the video.

By the way, I just contributed $100.00 to SarahPAC. Must have not been the only one, it took several times to access the site.

UDPATE: Byron York, as much of conservative blogging crowd, echo’s the left in saying that she needed to finish the term to give her bonafides to running for president.

Again, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, both inexperienced by far to have run for President, much less one of them actually getting there. Get a grip or shut up.

UPDATE: It will be on her Twitter site soon, but this is about 2012, and a surprise for detractors.

Via Mark Levin: “Palin is running for President, get used to it”.

Bill Kristol weighs in again.

UPDATE: Well that didn’t take long. This blogger who is known for false stories of indictments coming (Rove, Bush, etc), claims this was about coming indictments for Palin.

Absolutely NOT true, as I have verified with contacts within DOJ. It’s simply false.
