It’s no doubt he stole it, but neverthelessthe news, expected as it was.
“Republican Norm Coleman has conceded to Democrat Al Franken in the Minnesota Senate race, ending one of the longest Senate races in American history and clearing the way for Democrats to hold a 60-seat supermajority in the Senate.
Coleman’s concession, given from the front of his St. Paul home, came just a few hours after the Minnesota Supreme Court on Tuesday unanimously ruled Franken the winner of last November’s Senate race. In a 5-0 decision, the court upheld a three-judge panel’s April 14 ruling that Franken defeated Coleman in the race by 312 votes out of 2.9 million cast. The 32-page opinion was remarkably decisive, picking apart and rejecting one Coleman legal claim after another.
In its final line of the ruling, the state Supreme Court said Franken is “entitled” under Minnesota law to “receive the certificate election as United States senator from the state of Minnesota.” Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed the certification today, clearing the way for Franken to be sworn in early next week when the Senate returns from its weeklong recess.”
Hey Minnesota, you get what you deserve, hope he serves you shamefully. No really. If you really want a has-been, and not very funny comedian when he was – for a Senator, have at it.
But we’ll not keep a long face and this is why. First, Democrats haven’t been able to tow the line with a 57 seat majority, so the addition of Stewart means what?
Secondly, it’s time we conservatives went after the conservative democrats in their districts who were elected by a conservative electorate. Call them “Blue Dogs” or whatever, what we do now is fire up the ad campaigns in their states around the time of critical legislation.
Right now Barack Obama’s spend-thrift ways are getting a major drumming in many polls as Americans are beginning to wake up to the waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer funds. Moveover, the coming tax increases will be as much trouble for Obama as the Iraq War was for Bush.
Remember the strategy of the Democrats was to paint Republicans as “Bush supporters” in order to gain momentum from voter dissatisfaction. Well we can play the same game. As the public begins to further sour on Barack Obama’s failed fiscal policies and tax increases that come next year, we can target those Democrats who side with them.
This won’t bother the tax and spend liberals of the wing, but it will affect those who ran on conservative margins and edged out Republicans only because of anger about the war and some of Bush’s more “liberal” spending policies.

Some of these are in “safe” districts, but others are not and got by the narrowest of margins in the last election. GOP operatives in these states are already beginning to form think tanks to do just exactly what I’ve suggested.
We will need a lot of success with the upcoming vacancies on our side in 2010 of retirements and such.
It’s a lot of work, but we can get it done. Let’s get to work!
