For years the left has cried foul when the right would suggest a supreme court justice citing their ideology and how it would affect their rulings. Now, well, it doesn’t seem to matter as the left executes the full court press to get Obama to appoint a gay SC Justice, calling it “bigotry” if he doesn’t do so.

First, there is no doubt that there may be a qualified candidate that is gay, but gay is not and should not be a qualification for being a supreme court justice. Sen. Jeff Sessions – ranking member – states, “I’m not inclined to think that’s an automatic disqualification”, and indeed it shouldn’t. But again, the issue of “quota” should never be a consideration of filling a vacancy – qualifications alone should determine that.

Let’s be blunt. Gay advocacy groups want a gay justice because they feel it will help them gain positive rulings in their favor. Again, that’s not the purpose of the Supreme Court. It’s not the job of the court to legislate “lifestyle decisions”, it is to hold up the law of the land.
