“President Obama defended his decision to fight the release of photos showing detainee abuse Wednesday afternoon, saying it would only put American troops in harms way and create a backlash against Americans.
“The most direct consequence of releasing them, I believe, would be to further inflame anti-American opinion and to put our troops in greater danger,” the president said before departing on his trip to Arizona. “Moreover, I fear the publication of these photos may only have a chilling effect on future investigations of detainee abuse.”
Again, not abuse, as the interrogations were provided by law.

But of course the ACLU is not happy:
“”The reversal is another indication of a continuance of the Bush administration policies under the Obama administration,” ACLU attorney Amrit Singh told ABC News. “President Obama’s promise of accountability is meaningless, this is inconsistent with his promise of transparency, it violates the government’s commitment to the court. People need to examine these abusive photographs, but also the government officials need to be held accountable.”
Notice the only ones that the ACLU doesn’t want held accountable is the terrorists themselves.

1Well, now, it would seem that the Community Organizer in Chief has himself a problem.
If he releases the photos, especially right before his Egyptian “Look At Me” tour, he is going to meet with some nasty comments from his adoring Muslim fans. By holding them back, he is pissing off his radical far left base.
My guess? The photos will be released in the end with the Clown in Chief claiming that he had no option because it was ordered by a judge. That will be his out and he will try to claim to the troops he puts in danger “Well, at least I tried.” Nevermind that he can refuse to release them by a presidential directive while at war.
Obama wanted to release certain “torture” memos for political purposes. His buddy, Nancy Pelosi, begged stupidity on the fact that we were using harsh interrogation techniques, but got caught by her own lies, and the Republicans were not going to let her get by with that, knowing that Pelosi was fully aware of what was being done AND TO WHO.
So Obama’s little plan to bash Bush once more, backfired in his face like a cheap shotgun and he had a real problem on his hands. So how to make it all go away? Refuse to release the photos that he had earlier promised to make public by pandering to the ACLU.
This is what happens when America elects a pretty voice that can read a pretty speech from a teleprompter and is surrounded by political hacks.
We knew he could not govern. Now maybe American will begin to realize it, as well.
