Predictions of the death of conservatism are premature.
“..here’s good news and bad news in this phenomenon for establishment politicians. The good news for Republicans is that, while the Republican Party flounders in its response to the Obama presidency and its programs, millions of Americans are getting organized on their own. The bad news is that those Americans, despite their opposition to President Obama’s policies, aren’t especially friendly to the GOP. When Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele asked to speak at the Chicago tea party, his request was politely refused by the organizers: “With regards to stage time, we respectfully must inform Chairman Steele that RNC officials are welcome to participate in the rally itself, but we prefer to limit stage time to those who are not elected officials, both in Government as well as political parties. This is an opportunity for Americans to speak, and elected officials to listen, not the other way around.”
Likewise, I spoke to an organizer for the Knoxville tea party who said that no “professional politicians” were going to be allowed to speak, and he made a big point of saying that the protest wasn’t an anti-Obama protest, it was an anti-establishment protest. I’ve heard similar things from tea-party organizers in other cities, too. Though critics will probably try to write the tea parties off as partisan publicity stunts, they’re really a post-partisan expression of outrage.
As I’ve said before. The majority of Americans are in fact conservative no matter what party they vote in. So this IS a movement back – not away from – conservative roots, and WILL have an impact on the 2010 and 2012 election.
While not now good for the Republican party, it could be if NOW the GOP begins to bring itself back to conservatism by not only preaching it, but teaching and practicing it.
This is our chance to turn this whole socialist nightmare around.

2Mac, this movement is not Republican, Democrat or Libertarian. It is everyday Americans, the ones that D.C. has perfected in ignoring, that are involved.
But the MSM can’t handle the fact that those citizens in fly-over country that the media’s elite ranks so quickly dismiss, are not as stupid as they think we are.
All politics are local. And it is time to take our new Clown In Chief’s advise; work from the bottom up. And there are some simple steps to changing what we don’t like:
For lack of a better name, have a Constitution party at your home. Invite friends and neighbors over for iced tea (?) to discuss how you want your local community run. As your group grows, and it will, invite speakers. People like history and pro-Constitution professors from your local college. Ask local judges, county sheriffs, police chiefs, mayors and city council members to come speak and be open to questions. Find out how your government works.
Appoint people to attend city council and county commissioner’s court meeting. Find out what they are doing. Take names on who is looking to raise your taxes, your utility bill, etc.
Have someone do a legislative “watch” in your state. If you know what a bill says, you can make a informed decision as to is worth. Notify your state representative that your group is for/against the bill.
The best advertising in the world is word of mouth. For generations we have just blithely gone about the business of everyday life and not really paid too much attention to the power grap that has been going on in D.C. for generations. It is time to change that.
