Year after year, our supposed best in Baseball go into a the World Baseball Classic and stink the place up. Tonight was no different. Looking more like a Grapefruit League team than a gathering of professionals, the USA – in Dodger Stadium no less – lose to Japan 9-4. Heck they wouldn’t be in this position had they not lost to less than stellar Venezuela. Jeter and the boys looked like they were just passing the time, especially Jeter who half-assed the entire game.
How about this? Why keep sending these overpaid premadonas out to represent us when they only look bad at losing, and instead let’s let some good non-professionals who haven’t been spoiled into getting paid big bucks just to suck be on the team next year.
Heck, at least when we lose we’ll have an excuse.

1yeah, jeter looked disinterested and who is that guy dunn. he gave up and watched the ball roll past him in right field, allowing another run. then, he stood there with the bat on his shoulder, taking a called third strike to end the game. davey johnson, the manager, left the starting pitcher, oswald in too long. oswald was noticeably struggling in the fourth and eventually gave up more runs than the USA could overcome.
there isn’t enough room to write about the politics of who plays and amount of their playing time. team USA is caught between playing to win and getting the major league players the right amount of playing time in preparation for the upcoming MLB season, with an eye toward the world series. their competition plays to win the tournament

2after watching dunn stand there watching the ball roll past him in right, he should have been pulled on the spot. then he wouldn’t have been at bat in the 9th with the bat on his shoulder watching the last strike and last out of the game
