Conservative Obamanites
Frankly I’m not amazed at the conservative punditry, such as over at Hotair and others who are – along the left – teeing off on Bobby Jindal. Quite frankly I found his speech refreshing and not nearly the “bomb” that is bring described. Yeah he was a little “stiff” and “started slow”, and the lighting was “My God” horrible, but the fact is that he spoke nothing but clear conservative principles. If people on our side have a problem about that perhaps THEY need a look in the mirror.
Rush made the point today on his showtoday:
“So, where are we? We as conservatives are in the wilderness, and many of you are hopeless. So we have a guy, Bobby Jindal, 37 years old, first time on the national stage, shows up last night to make a response to The Messiah. All he did was articulate what we believe. All he did was articulate opposition to what Obama is doing, with the obligatory when he’s right, we’ll work with him, just like we worked with Clinton on NAFTA, just like we worked with Clinton on welfare reform after we brought him in. These things happen. It doesn’t mean that we lose our distrust. All Bobby Jindal did was tell us what conservatism is; he used his own life story to do it; he talked about the American people making the country work. He had it all. Now, he may not have done it in the same stylistic way as Obama. I can understand the Democrats trashing the man, just as they trashed Sarah Palin. They are mean-spirited, heartless, horrible winners. But the people on our side are really making a mistake if they go after Bobby Jindal on the basis of style.
Because if you think people on our side, I’m talking to you, those of you who think Jindal was horrible, in fact, I don’t want to hear from you ever again if you think that what Bobby Jindal said was bad or what he said was wrong or not said well, because, folks, style is not going to take our country back. Solid conservatism articulated in a way that’s inspiring and understanding is what’s going to take the country back. Bobby Jindal’s 37 years old. I’ve spoken to him numerous times. He’s brilliant. He’s the real deal. I’m not coming here to defend him, he doesn’t need that. We’re going to have to figure out what we want. Do we want to have somebody in our party who can sound as smart as Obama regardless what he says and convince people to vote for us, or do we believe in a set of principles that defined this country’s founding and will return it to greatness again?”
Hate to use his mantra, but Rush is right. The fact is that even some on our side are sold on “Obama Template” that just because Bobby didn’t mimic the messiah’s soaring rhetoric that somehow the words meant nothing. Missing from the commentary is the fact that the lefties wouldn’t have commented so loudly on Jindal this morning if they really thought he bombed. Because he completely refuted the socialism we heard from Obama last night with core conservatism they simply could not let that stand. The fact that the media and bloggers on the right join them is more a testament to their being more off the mark then they realize.
It’s not Bobby, or the party that needs to change. Again, if those on our side have become so befuddled or even enamored by Obama that they cannot see a conservative principle if it slapped them in the ass, then it’s they who have bombed, and it’s they who need to perhaps step away from the microphone for a while.

Mac, all we hear is “He was a community organizer. He was head of the Harvard Law Review. He’s brilliant. The greatest orator since Lincoln. He went to Columbia.”
B/S.
You want brilliant? Jindal was offered not just one, but two, totally free rides at tony universities and you can bet your sweet a– he didn’t use “affirmative action” to garner them. One was to Harvard Medical School and the other was to Yale Law School.
How many of those “conservatives” bashing Jindal mentioned he is a Rhodes Scholar. I don’t think Oxford gives those things out because of “political correctness”.
Jindal has accomplished more in the first 37 years of his life than the community agitator could have ever dreamed of doing.
So now, the base line is going to be a smooth talking con-man who models his speeches after Martin Luther King, Jr.? Great, next time, I really will just vote for some clown on American Idol.
At least people can understand what the hell Jindal is talking about. Most of the people who voted for the guy who uses Harvard law talk never got out of high school.
I notice that Chris Matthews (scum sucking slug that he is) was upset because Jindal was just a “governor” and said what does that have to do with the Senate. Wonder if Matthews was upset when a young governor from Arkansas gave the rebuttal? Nah, didn’t think so.
