“Breaking his silence on the conflict in Gaza, the president-elect deplored the civilian casualties, which have been overwhelmingly on the Palestinian side, after a meeting with fiscal and economic advisors today.
“I’m very concerned with the conflict taking place there,” Obama said. “I’m monitoring the situation on a day to day basis.
“The loss of civilian life in Gaza and in Israel is a source of deep concern to me, and after January 20th I’ll have plenty to say about the issue.”
Don’t look for a more forceful statement either. Ben Smith adds snarkly:
“Obama’s emphasis on civilian casualties breaks slightly with the White House line, which has been to blame Hamas first.”
Yeah God forbid he would blame the terrorist thugs that have vowed to kill Israelis until hell freezes over. Which is about how long Israel will have to wait to hear Obama utter a real heart-felt word of support. Remember how he bailed on the Georgians? You get the point.
Are you listening Jewish Americans?

I am, and I agree that Obama’s statement was not strong enough — although I’m glad he at least made some mention of 600 dead Palestinians, at least a third of them civilians.
I hope that when Obama said he’ll have plenty to say about this after Jan. 20, he’ll make it clear that Israel’s behavior in Gaza is completely unacceptable, legally and morally.

2Kathy, does being a moron come hard for you are is it natural?
Hamas broke the cease fire.
Hamas has in it’s charter the destruction of Israel.
Hamas has been hiding behind civilians to create more collateral damage.
Here’s the deal, Kathy. Let me know where you live. Then I am going to stand outside your house and shoot at it every day. When you call the police (the UN) they will do nothing. And I will continue shooting at your house. Now, I am not a very good shot so I will just aim in the general direction of your house, and if someone inside happens to get hit, oh well, it’s not like I was aiming at THEM. And I don’t think you ought to be able to shot back at me. And I will only stop when you move out of the neighborhood.
Does that work for you because that is exactly what you are asking of Israel.
God, girl, if you are going to express your opinion, at least let it be from an informed position.

3Kathy, you are obviously just trolling, but at least don’t be an ignorant troll.
Just to emphasize, Israel is completely within established UN Charter 51, specifically that allows them to retaliate after Hamas lobbed over 200 missiles into Israeli cities over the last three months alone.
Therefore it is neither illegal or immoral, unless of course you sympathize with terrorist Hamas, which is both.
