Obama’s First Interview is with – Al Arabiya?

Eat your heart out Ny Times!

“As special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell heads off to the region to begin work on negotiating a cease fire between Israel and the Palestinians, President Obama has sat for his first formal TV interview with the Arabic cable TV network Al-Arabiya, ABC News has learned.

The interview was taped this evening and is set to air at 11 pm ET, as Mitchell is in the air and on his way to the region.”

Don Surber is jiggy with it…

“Obama is the commander-in-chief. He must put the nation’s interests first. If this makes the people in the Middle East feel all warm and fuzzy toward the United States and makes our boys and girls in harm’s way a little safer, then I am 100% for it.

If this cheeses off Katie Couric or Wolf Blitzer, even better.”

Yeah, if that were the only reason. However, we could say the same of Jimmy Carter, and leave it “enough said“.

Fact is that getting the Arabs to “heart” America is like nailing Jello to a tree – ain’t going to happen, but hey if it marginalizes Israel, it may be the only motivation in force here.

UPDATE: Don’t miss, “Al Hopiyah, Al Chigiyah!”
