Israeli strikes are beginning to get solid results.
“Nizar Rayyan, who advocated renewal of suicide bombings against Jewish state, killed with nine other people, including members of his family. Palestinians report 10 people killed in separate strike on Gaza school
Israel on Thursday killed a senior Hamas political leader in an air strike in the Gaza Strip, the first such attack in its six-day-old offensive
The air strike killed Nizar Rayyan along with nine other people, including his wife and three children, Hamas said. Another 25 people were wounded. Security sources told Ynet that the house was also used as an arms cache, a communications headquarters and concealed a tunnel’s opening.
Israeli military sources confirmed that Rayyan, who was considered the Hamas leadership’s liaison with the group’s military wing, was killed in an attack on his north Gaza home.
Prior to striking Rayyan’s house the IDF tried to warn his family about the imminent attack and urged them to evacuate the place, but they refused to do so.”
Just a note, in spite of western media misreporting on the larger story, the IDF has issued warnings throughout the Gaza for civilians to flee and separate themselves from Hamas members. Yet this is a significant hit. Rayyan was the most radical of Hamas’s leadership and his demise is welcomed.
“Most of Hamas’ leaders have gone into hiding since the Israeli operation in Gaza began, but Rayyan recently pledged not to leave his house under any circumstances.
Rayyan was an outspoken advocate of renewing suicide bombings against the Jewish state. He also sent his son to carry out a suicide attack in the community of Eley Sinai in 2001 in which two Israelis was killed, and was behind the bombing in the Ashdod Port in 2004 which left 10 Israelis dead.
Wednesday saw Rayyan speak at a Gaza mosque and call on Muslims everywhere to pray for the Palestinians in the Strip. “We do not need money or weapons, we only need your prayers. We can handle the enemy ourselves.”
Revenge is sweet.

2The press keeps stating that Israel did not learn a lesson in Lebanon and that this attack and ground troops is a big mistake. This is because many members of the press still do not understand what Israel wants–to live in peace without rockets killing its citizens. Lebanon may have been costly, but at least there are no more rockets coming or likely to come. Hezbollah may still want to destroy Israel, but as long its jut an ideological ambition and not an active threat, Israel can live with that. Israel does not expect terrorist and extremist to love tem, but to live and let live.
With this effort in Gaza at least Israel can hope to stop rocket attacks. How would England or France take it if a neighboring state was routinely sending rockets into its country and killing citizens with the stated goal of wiping out the existence of England or France. So, its OK for terrorist group to shell Israel and kill Israelis? Once again, its the double standard. As long as Hamas actively is committed to its agenda of Israel’s destruction, Israel has to act. How can Israel merely open up the borders to Gaza knowing full well that the number one import by Hamas will be long range missiles with the sole purpose of killing Jews. How do you negotiate with an organization that is actively trying to kill your woman and children? For those Europeans that are so quick to criticize Israel, please go live in Southern Israel for awhile and see how you like living in constant fear for your life. The talk to a member of Hamas about compromise.
