Lessons learned:
1. The mainstream media has now proven they can, by going all in, push a noxious candidate over the line. The media situation will get worse if the Fairness Doctrine passes.
2. The GOP has to write off the African-American vote for good. They will have to work hard to get some sort of counter to it – Hispanics may be a shot, but the Republicans have managed to foul that up royally over the past three years.
3. The GOP must fight cap-and-trade, card-check, and the Fairness Doctrine by any means necessary.
4. The GOP will need some lucky breaks. One would be that Petraeus and Odierno end up either resigning or being forced out when the inevitable disagreements over the War on Terror arise – and those disagreements WILL happen.
5. Money counts. Obama was able to flood the zone, and the GOP couldn’t keep up.
6. Understand that the Democrats will be ruthless and do not play by rules, and plan accordingly. When the decent person goes toe-to-toe with someone believing “by any means necessary,” he will lose out.
RE: item 6. It remains to be seen whether the US has elected it’s Mitterand or it’s Mussolini. That outcome will be determined when Obama’s policy meets a political impediment. If the constitutional bulwark holds, then there’s hope. If not, then [I'm in my mid-50's]…”the lights are going out all over America. We will not see them lit again in our lifetime.”

2Good summary Harold.
