Now the election is over – for now, it’s time to announce a change at Macsmind. As I am a techie in my other incarnation I am going to be including tech news along with the usual in political and cultural news.
Look not only for news but commentary on tech news along with reviews and tips.
Don’t worry, I’ll still be covering politics in the way readers have come to expect, but I hope this will enhance the site experience.

1I gotta question for you, MacTechie: Why does Vista have such a bad rep? What was wrong with it?
We had to buy a new computer right before the election (YIKES! what timing!) and our new one has Vista. So far, I love it; no complaints. And I’m not a techie at all.
I am mighty glad Rush convinced me to subscribe to Carbonite.com. Since our old computer used XP and our new one has Vista, they had to talk me through the download. (Our anti-virus software would not allow them remote access to our computer to fix it.) They were wonderful, and we have all of our files!

2Hi Kitty,
Most of the rep comes from that all important user experience and then from bad press. In the former – while many users enjoy vista- much of the installed base, long time users, simply hated it.
This fueled the secondary reason which was the press. Early reports and reviews simply hammered Vista which had even a further effect on user’s views of the product.
It just wasn’t selling. Thus it’s back to the drawing board and Windows 7.

3Now that I’ve used Vista, I wouldn’t go back to XP. I liked XP, but I like Vista more.
