Obama wants to “Protect” America

8 June 2008 233 Comments

As you might now, I have posted the Obama Wants to Disarm America Thread which has thankfully received nearly 250,000 page views. That’s good, and it’s getting the word out. However some lefties are complaining that the video is a hack job and it’s out of context. Therefore I present to you context.

Protecting American by Disarming Her. Right.

Perhaps American needs protecting…from him.

This man wants to bring our troops home, in what? Defeat? That’s not how our men and women want to come home. Besides, what are they coming home to??? No jobs, some, no home!!! 9 Billion dollars spent on the war is better the millions given to the Senators for what??? So they can squander some more??? The Millions Obama has spent on this champaign is outrageous! We know where its coming from….someone wants him in power real bad and its not just Democrats! President Clinton and Hillary, you should be ashamed!!!

Well, who is suprised? He is the “liberal icon”, feel good touchy feely guy who wants to “spread the wealth around”, disarm us and prosecute a citizen for defending his/her home and family with a firearm. He is a socialist and if he gets his way he will reduce America to a third world country with handouts for those who won’t work, or don’t belong here to begin with while making apologies to those in the middle east for example who are hell bent to bring us down as a nation. America is still a democracy (I think?) the elections are coming up. God help us if he is elected. Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

It absolutely amazes me how differently you interpret his words!! Do you really believe that he wants to “disarm” America?? Nowhere in his comments did I hear that!! Stopping wasteful military spending, Yes, but “disarm America”?? Where do you hear that?? And, beside all that, don’t you think we already have enough “Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction”???!!!

I, like most non-black Americans, feel the time is right & over due for a black man or woman to become President of the greatest country the world has ever known. However, Obama is not that man. I am reminded of another smooth talker of the past whose ability to messmerize large crowds with eloquent rhetoric is legend. His name was Adolph Hitler, and the little children followed. Please don’t make that same mistake !

It is ironic that I wrote in my book two years ago, before Obama had arrived on the scene that political correctness was the forerunner to communism back in the 1700’s. By promising to spread the wealth, weaken the defense of a country, inpose tax hikes on those who can afford it the least, the country is flushed down the toilet in socialism. Russia is a prime example how the policies of Obama-led Democrats are only into wealth, greed, and suppressing anyone who will speak out against them. When the secret police start making citizens disappear for saying negative views against the loony-left socialists that have grabbed power through the influx of minorities, it will be too late and a new dictator will outlaw democracy in America. Don’t say you weren’t warned. Marx once said: ‘America will destroy itself from within’ and that is now coming to pass through African-Americans and the Islamic state. They couldn’t defeat the US by force. They infiltrated offices and they will take over through the gullibility and short-sightedness of citizens.

The sad part is that those who vote for him have no idea that they are voting for a candidate that wants to turn America into a socialist state where the government is their “Sugar Daddy”. Or, do they? “Something for nothing” always has an allure for the lazy.

Can agree or disagree on Iraq. Position on negotiating cuts in nuclear arsenals, not weaponizing space, controlling fissile material seems reasonable. Rest of speech is against wasting money on projects that are unproven or promoted simply by lobbyists for contractors, hence idea to establish independent board of review. None of that seems exceptionable: McCain takes credit for sinking some boondoggle defense projects too.

I am a Reagan Conservative and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have reviewed many of these posts and am both amazed and bewildered at the vast majority of individuals that truly do not research any information. Prag, Kris, Greg, Anne I see have done a good job of research even though they are of differing opinions.

One question I have is why Obama will not disclose his birth records?? By constitutional law the President has to be a natural US citizen to hold the highest Office of the Land (President). Is he or is he not a citizen?? Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger once commented that if the laws changed, he might think of running. Does any one have real proof of his birth records, Date, Hospital, Doctor, Location, etc.

I have already voted, but I have the same opinion as Greg in that the Republican nominee is not my first choice for the Office.

Mitt Romney stated it best, “Washington is broken”, Palin made the same statement in her acceptance speech. We need to remove all of the current politicians and replace them. This especially true for Reid and Pelosi, but not only them but many of the current Dems and Reps.

A great American Native once called on his nation with what is now the “Title of Liberty”
“In memory of our God, our religion, our freedom, and our peace, our wives and our children”
This was to stand up in defense of the forces surrounding him to bring down and destroy all that he stood for.
This call was again sot during the Revolutionary War. Time and time again this call is being made.

The Government is supposed to be the will and the word of the People, not the minority or the lobbyists or the special interest groups. We have allowed the Government to dictate to us how we are to think, feel, walk and talk. When a 12 year old child is allowed to divorce his parents or Teachers fear for their lives because they cannot take necessary action towards belligerent students, we have become lazy as a nation and a people. We want others to give and do for us what we should be doing for ourselves. This has never been the founding fathers way. They were men of action and responsibility. Did they have their flaws, of course, but they were not individuals who sat around talking about it instead of doing it.

I write this to make the silent majority wake up, become active, and do not let the LOUD MINORITY of special interest groups or lobbyists, etc. dictate what you are to do.

I do not trust Obama. He cannot pass a military security clearance background check, (I used to do these when I was in the Service). He has no true Executive experience, but we are looking to place him in the position to manage our future.

McCain is a little better, but even still he does not hold the silent majority values. McCain at least has experience in his favor.

As the lesser of the two evils, I chose John McCain to at least, not raise my taxes and allow me the right to fail or succeed in business. Not to take my money and efforts and give them to someone else.

To clarify I do not make over 100k and the Bush tax cuts do help my wife, 7 children and me. I work hard for what I have and believe others can to. I give 10% or more to charity every year.

When I see Liberals doing that, then I will believe Obama has a true plan to help this nation. Until then I will reserve my opinion for the conservative values.

There is to much deception and not enough truth coming from his mouth. And to leave everyone with a little food for thought. The President is not the final word and it was not the Republicans that put us in the mess we have been in for the last 3 yrs. It is Congress, Senate and the House of Representatives. They have been Democratic for 3 years. Wake up and smell the coffee. And I am not a Republican or Democrat, I am an Independent.

Wow, this Barack Obama must be some amazingly powerful guy.
Let’s see … he’s going to disarm the US military and all our law-abiding, gun-toting citizens, destroy American initiative as we become a Socialist state under his ’spread the wealth’ policies, make Islam the new national religion, raise taxes on anyone who works hard for the benefit of those who are too lazy to work, scheme with his ‘Liberal Elite’ cronies to pad their personal bank accounts at the expense of us taxpayers, and do all of this in just four years!
Yea, I can see why so many of the people commenting on this site are so EXTREMELY AFRAID! We are seeing the results of a whole generation of “entitlements”, a generation of children (now young adults) who were given much, worked very little, have no concept of deferred gratitification and expect to acquire all the material goods their parents worked for over decades, but they expect it in the first two years of marriage. The idea or philosophy of “cradle to grave” care by big government is a natural result of the way far too many raised their children. While I , like many others who worked hard and asked little of my government may lament the forthcoming wave of socialism sweeping across this country….there is a bright side. While a great many of our not so enlightened citizens (i.e. those who lack historical perspective) will suffer greatly over the next 4 to 8 years, it just prove to be the wake-up call this country needs.

He stands for fully restoring our Constitution,
decreasing government power, giving the power back to the people through the states, eliminating unnecessary taxes…..

We don’t see that party on the national news, why?
Without the constitution we are no longer free. Period.

I really think that iiur most important issue right now.

I think both Obama and McCain are horrible choices….

He stated that he has always fought for an “open, ethical, accountable government..” but he hasn’t been open, ethical, or accountable with the American public. Why isn’t he open about producing his birth certificate-a legitimate one? Why hasn’t he been ethical during the entire campaign? Every time something from his past is brought to light, he plays the race card or rambles on about the Republicans trying to use scare tactics, why can’t he provide a straightforward answer? He wants to disarm the U.S., whether it be nuclear or conventional, he keeps vowing to negotiate with Russia and Iran….sounds odd to me.

If Obama is elected he will move this country into Socialism, no doubt.
If he is not planning to eventually move this country into an Elitest one party rule, then why is he going to take our liberty to bear arms away, take our military out of war before the war is won, downsize our military and our defense system, kill the entreprenureal spirit, buy our 401k’s,take our social security and 401K’s and dole the money out to Americans as he sees fit and as he thinks you will need it. If that is not a catalyst to a one party rule, I don’t know what is!! Wake up America and all of you who think you will get a large check from the government. Nothing is ever FREE! Mark my words :YOU WILL BE OBLIGATED TO OBAMA TO DO WHATEVER HE WANTS YOU TO DO! Obama is planning to give you only 500 or 1000 dollars a year. Will that allow you to send your children to college, buy a car, a home or much of anything these days? It may allow you to fill up your car with gas a few times. Obama will not allow new defense systems to be created? What does that tell those of you who think we are raving lunatics. We will be vunerable to all of those who want to do us harm and who want to take over our nation; namely the terrorists. We will be fighting them here in our country. That is why President Bush has not retreated yet. There is so much more to be said, but our country is in a horrible mess thanks to the Democratic rule in congress. I vote for the values of the candidate ,not for the party. I was in the silent majority, but not anymore. Our founding fathers weren’t too silent, neither should we be if we want to keep our country as our own; FREE AND A LEADER IN THE WORLD. I want that for my children and grandchildren and for me as I live out the next 50 years of my life. STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR AMERICA!!!

So america’s response to Islamic extremism, is Christian extremism? There are three reasons wars are started over the history of war….Land, Water, and Religion. Save us the bible belt rhetoric. God wont save you when Barack Obama puts our economy into a tale spin and undermines the paradigm of american values. All we can count on is that when that happens, if elected…the processes the founding fathers implaced within our governmental structure will allow us to make up for americas emotional decision(thanks to the ineptitude of Dubya), and set the country right on a path of moderate Republican principles. The emotion of this election is unprecedented thanks to the Christian rights massive efforts of the Bush 2004 re-election(what a voter fuck up). Now the very people responsible for putting bush back in office have allowed the door to be open for Barack Hussein Obama to most likely be elected. McCain should have been president long before 2008. Instead we have a legacy in office as if the american executive branch is some kind of low rate greek fraternity.

The republican party has been taken over by jesus freaks and the democratic party has been taken over by freaking minority serving elitists. 500,000 low skilled, uneducated users of our economy pour into our nation anually without regard for our laws, legal immigration is another story. Not to mention the 3.1 to 4 birthrate among these latin american illegal immigrants, thats a lot of babies, nearly 2 times the national average which is about 2. The stress on infrastructure, schools, environment, hospitals, and employment of CITIZENS has caused costs in all aspects of our lives to increase to some degree. SO to conclude with all the talk about our economy, foreign policy, blah blah, etc….what happened to the debate on Immigration reform?? Doesnt it have a fundamental place considering its far reaching consequences to every american….?

In the 2 days that remain before the election, everyone who believes what this country was founded on needs to band together and pray that we can take this country back and keep us where belong, the most powerful country on earth. I read that during WWII Churchill banded many people together and they started praying every night at 9:00 that the Germans would quit bombing Britain. It worked and if you have any knowledge of WWII you will see that following what this country was founded on kept our country strong like God intended. So people, pray, pray, pray! We can do it, he promises that.

Do you really think that if Obama were not a citizen the fact would not have been brought out long before now by every political opponent? It’s not some conspiracy. It’s simply a fake story. Factcheck.org examined the original document and says it has a raised seal and the usual evidence of a genuine document. On Friday, officials in Hawaii said they had personally verified that the health department holds Obama’s original birth certificate. Judges in Washington state, Ohio and Pennsylvania have dismissed lawsuits challenging his citizenship. Again, no conspiracy, just a false rumor that gets recycled.
On Obama as a muslim: go to youtube and watch the interview with George Staphanopoulos where the “muslim faith” quote occurs. Not only is it clear from the context that Obama is quoting critics who accuse him of being muslim, Stephanopoulos gets it wrong and Obama straightens him out very clearly.

    Hello all;
I miss all the previous posts as well, they disappeared sometime between 3pm & 6pm yesterday. If you read the top paragraph, I get
the opinion, that due to numerous complaints about the quality of the previous video that was posted, a new one was uploaded & as a result all the older posts went out with the old video. The video posted now is a better quality & if you view it, there are also other videos linked to it, so you are able to view more than one.
As for the Bible belt people, I’m sure we’re all still reading, I know I have been. My husband & I went this past Tuesday to early vote, while he was home in between construction jobs. We voted for McCain/Palin and voted as straight Republican as possible, as back up, just in case Obama does happen to win, to counter the Democratic control of Congress. You know, checks & balances thing.
The really sad thing is, I wanted to vote for some of the Democrats on the ticket, mainly due to their stance on illegal immigration. It’s funny how some of the Democrats have got it right, but on the other hand some of the Republicans have got it right. Overall though, all politicians say what they think the American public want to hear, so they can be elected. You don’t who you can believe anymore, you have to spend hours on end, doing research & try to make an informed decision.
You can’t trust all the media, because most are biased & won’t reveal the complete truths. However, there are enough sound bites out there, actual recordings of the words coming out of the politicians mouths, if you can find them.
Here’s something interesting I heard just today. When reviewing the election map, it shows Colorado, Virginia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, & Illinois as solid blue. The first four of these states are heavily loaded with coal plants generating power throughout the country, employing thousands of people. Here’s where the really interesting part comes in, there is an audio interview of Obama & a reporter from San Francisco talking about the “coal” states, these 4 states, & how he plans to make them pay big money in order to continue to operate because of the “global warming” effect.
Now, the point, Obama has these states full support for now, but what’s going to happen when all these fees go into affect & the companies can’t continue to 1) operate, 2) afford the fees, etc.? First, there will be lay-offs, more unemployed people needing to live off the government, Second, because these “coal” plants are generating power to thousands of households across the country, we will either see an huge increase in our power bills or possible a lack of power being generated from these plants.
For those of you not familiar with how they work, these plants actually generate so much power, that the power is sent out hundreds of miles away, thus the reason for all these huge power lines we see scattered out across our lands. Granted there are other means of generating power, that are much cleaner, but you can’t just up & begin imposing fines or fees on the “coal” plants tomorrow.
I also ran across the sound bite of Biden telling voters to say no to “coal” plants, what a slap in the face to those “coal” states that have already shown their support for this team.
Youtube.com is loaded with recordings of these candidates, where you can actually here these comments from the “horse’s” mouth. Not propaganda, but factual. See it for yourselves.

America is becoming a more intellectual nation, and smart people don’t need to bother with warfare. that’s how I see it. Good speech, Obama. Vote for Obama!

The election, November 4, is the most critical election this nation has ever had; and could very well be the last. For what Barack Obama and the democratic party are planning to do to this country, there is every possibility that they will have to suspend all elections; forever. For they know that if we are ever to have another election after November 4, 2008, they will all be voted out of power and never, ever again, hold power. All the democratic party cares about is power.
Within a year after this election, the United States of America could very well be a third world undeveloped communist country like Cuba or North Korea. All it takes is one election. Nikita Kruschev, a former head of the old Soviet Union, prophesised this before and right after the Cuban Missile Crisis in October, 1962. He said, “We will bury you. The United States will raise the hammer and sickle over the White House without the Soviet Union firing a single shot. The takeover of the United States will come from within, and not from without. Is this the year it is going to happen?
All it takes is one election. If you want to know about change, ask the Cuban-Americans living in Miami, Florida. They know about change. they’ve been there and done that.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every
day and seemed quite happy with the
    arrangement, until one day, the
owner threw them a curve. ‘Since you are
    all such good customers, he
said, ‘I’m going to reduce the cost of
your daily beer by $20. Drinks
for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the
way we pay our taxes so the
first four men were unaffected. They would
    still drink for free. But
what about the other six men – the paying customers?
How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’
They realized that $20 divided by six is
    $3.33. But if they subtracted
that from everybody’s share, then the
fifth man and the sixth man would
each end up being paid to drink his beer. So,
    the bar owner suggested
that it would be fair to reduce each man’s
    bill by roughly the same
amount, and he proceeded to work out the
    amounts each should pay.
    And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid
    nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3
    (33% savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7
    (28% savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25%
    savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22%
    savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16%
    savings).
Each of the six was better off than before And
    the first four continued
to drink for free. But once outside the
    restaurant, the men began to
    compare their savings.

‘I only got a dollar out of the $20′,
    declared the sixth man.
He pointed to the tenth man,’ but he got
    $10!’
    ‘Yeah, that’s right’, exclaimed
the fifth man. ‘I only saved a dollar,
too. It’s unfair that he got ten times
    more than I!’
    ‘That’s true!!’ shouted the
seventh man. ‘Why should he get $10 back
when I got only two? The wealthy get all the
    breaks!’
‘Wait a minute,’ yelled the first four
men in unison. ‘We didn’t get
anything at all. The system exploits the poor!’
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show
up for drinks, so the nine sat
down and had beers without him. But when it
came time to pay the bill,
    they discovered something important. They
    didn’t have enough money
between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and
    college professors, is how our
tax system works. The people who pay the
    highest taxes get the most
benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too
    much, attack them for being
wealthy, and they just may not show up
    anymore. In fact, they might
start drinking overseas where the atmosphere
    is somewhat friendlier.

You are absolutely correct. However, the people who seem to want this change and vote OBama in have not done their research. I am a hard working small business owner who has never had anything handed to me. I work hard and everyone out there it seems that wants change wants a handout.

Well be careful what you wish for! You are basically voting to line your pockets with other peoples hard earned money. I guarantee you that OBama is going to be the worst thing that ever happened to this country.

How could any American vote for a man that wouldn’t even put his hand on the bible, or put his hand over his heart like all Americans do when they are saying the Pledge of Allegiance? How could you even think of voting for a man that could care so little about the preciousness of human life like an unborn child? Please people think about your future with a man like this in power.
    God be with us all!!

War is, unfortunately, a necessary evil. It cannot and will not be ended as long as there are men out there who wish to do their fellow man harm; and such will always exist. Peace means, simply put, having the bigger stick. Staying one step ahead of the competitors in weapons development and capabilty is paramount to this. McCain is not going to save the world, and I do not agree with all of his views, but he is certainly the lesser of two evils.
I have seen footage of crowds of people chanting Obama’s name as if they are in some sort of trance or worship service. It does not matter who a person is, when something like that is prevalent, power becomes the driving motive for that person. Obama is not the Messiah; for the Messiah has already come.
One other major thing I have against Obama, and which would prevent me from ever voting for him, is not the fact he is black; I have absolutely no problem with a black president. Rather it is this, that he will not salute the American flag nor pledge allegiance to America. This can only mean his allegiance lies somewhere else, can it not?

IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

    November 1, 2007

Mr. REID (for Mr. OBAMA) introduced the following joint resolution; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations

    JOINT RESOLUTION

Clarifying that the use of force against Iran is not authorized by the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq, any resolution previously adopted, or any other provision of law.

    Whereas the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq (Public Law 107-243) authorized the President `to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to–(1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and (2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq’;

    Whereas, on September 26, 2007, the Senate agreed to a provision, Senate Amendment 3017 to Senate Amendment 2011 to H.R. 1585, stating the sense of the Senate that `the manner in which the United States transitions and structures its military presence in Iraq will have critical long-term consequences for the future of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, in particular with regard to the capability of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to pose a threat to the security of the region’;

    Whereas, on September 26, 2007, the Senate also stated the sense of the Senate `that it is a critical national interest of the United States to prevent the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran from turning Shi’a militia extremists in Iraq into a Hezbollah-like force that could serve its interests inside Iraq’;

    Whereas, on October 25, 2007, the Department of State designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) as proliferators of weapons of mass destruction under Executive Order 13382 in relation to concerns about their role in proliferation activities;

    Whereas, on October 25, 2007, the Department of the Treasury also designated 9 IRGC-affiliated entities and 5 IRGC-affiliated individuals, as derivatives of the IRGC, as well as Iran’s state-owned Bank Melli and Bank Mellat and 3 individuals affiliated with Iran’s Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO), as proliferators of weapons of mass destruction or supporters of terrorism under Executive Order 13382;

Whereas, on October 25, 2007, the Department of the Treasury also designated the IRGC-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) as a supporter of terrorism for providing material support to the Taliban and other terrorist organizations, and designated Iran’s state-owned Bank Saderat as a terrorist financier, under Executive Order 13224; and

Whereas any offensive military action taken by the United States against Iran must be explicitly authorized by Congress: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That nothing in the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq (Public Law 107-243), any act that serves as the statutory authority for Executive Order 13382 or Executive Order 13224, any resolution previously adopted, or any other provision of law including the terms of Executive Order 13382 or Executive Order 13224 shall be construed to authorize, encourage, or in any way address the use of the Armed Forces of the United States against Iran.

    Kris,

I hope this isn’t the third copy, but I’m having trouble posting things…

Great postings of facts and links!

I only followed one, but I did read the text (asprin please!) and looked at the votes. The one about protecting small business. After reading it, it looks to me that with a 50-50 vote, there were a lot of concerns. This was an amendment to the budget that would give a $5 million death tax exemption. I suspect the real issue wasn’t about protecting small businesses, rather what constitutes small business. This amendment was not revenue neutral, so while McCain could spin it that Obama doesn’t support small business, Obama could spin it that McCain voted for higher taxes.

I found some good links too:

This is a great site to explore to larn about both candidates! The folks that are against gambling and smoking might be surprised. Who gave how much to who is VERY facinating! (Each can judge with their own priorties in mind.)

Also, I don’t know if you read my response to Mr. Pragmatic yesterday before the forum crashed. You mentioned the term Tzedekah, which describes exactly why I responded so poorly. If you did see it, my apologies. If not, it was about not labeling someone and assuming what they do to contribute (or not) to society, based on a single choice. While I do not apologize for the message, I unfortunately dropped down to Mr. P’s choice of language, and even quoted most of it in the posting. If he comes back and didn’t see it, I may post the edited version, because I think the point is too important. Personally, I feel that Tzedekah is a rather personal thing, that shouldn’t need advertisment, but aparently, he thought otherwise.

Anyway, thanks again for the great postings. That’s how these forums should work; as an information exchange, not an emotional slam fest.

Go Kris! (Now my side is going to hate me :) )

    Kris and Craig,

Thank you for your well informed comments. As Craig stated we really need to do our homework and not follow the “Hollywood” type media hype. I follow the the philosophy that an educated person = a happy person.
Everyone has differing views as based on their upbringing. People generally gravitate to those individuals that represent that upbringing, but if we are not informed then people make choices based on the “popular kids” ideals, clothes that they wear, and the way they talk. People begin to become roadies, idol worshipers.

People need to a little more true research not SNL and the View.

There are several .gov websites that we can receive the actual information not someones opinion. These websites are 100% public access as required by law.

Become an informed citizen not a lemming follower. Choose for yourself, not based on someone’s opinion, but your own research. Take the time necessary.

  • J Slade said:

Once you have decided, based on actual research, take action. GET OUT AND VOTE!!!! Do not be the side line American that will listen and then complain and do nothing about it. The only way that things change are through action. “Newton Laws” an object stays in its current state unless acted upon.

  • J Slade said:

Can any Obama supporters explain why Obama wants a strong Civilian Armed force that is well funded at the same time limiting out military forces???

  • Wendy said:

Kris, very well said! Thanks for all the information, everyone that is able to vote should be required to read this. To Shelle, shame on you for what you said about John McCain. Were you even alive during that time? Where did you get your incredible information? I don’t think even your precious Obama would agree with what you said. Were you with John when they were torturing him? He “sang like a bird” before he was ever tortured?? As much crap as I have heard coming from “people” like you I have never heard anyone say such horrible things and lies. He got special treatment because of his dad? When he refused to be released early when the vietcong found out who his dad was they told him “you will be sorry that you refused” and commenced beating him and doing things to him that should be done to you for what you said. And religion has as much blood on their hands as George Bush? How old are you anyway, 10? What in heavens name do you mean by that remark anyway? I want to be there on judgement day, you will be crying for mercy, believe me!

  • Craig said:

J Slade, re: #70, I think folks are missing the point entirely. One of the reasons I am for Obama is that he tends to really look at a situation and calls it like it is. This will not always be the perceived popular position, so it opens him to a lot of spin. In reality, people are crying about taxes, and at the same time supporting our current use of the military and military budget. You just can’t have it all. The answer is always somewhere in the middle. What do you do? Cut Taxes or Cut Military? The money must come from somewhere. So, either we pay more, cut military spending, or learn to speak Chineese. Personally, I think a well thought out mix of the first two is the answer.
I believe that all the hysteria has blinded folks to the fact that there are some hard realities we must face. Whoever is elected WILL have to face these realities, and since both men are intelligent, I believe either can be successful. My choice is based solely on my perception (from lots of digging) that Mr. Obama has been more forthcomming in speaking the hard truth that people just don’t want to hear. Is he the only one that can handle it? Of course not! Anyone who (1) cares about our country, (2) is capable of coherent thought, and (3) has all of the facts available, is going to do just fine. Now much of the hype on here has said that Obama fails miserably at all of these, but other sites say McCain is the failure. Mr. Obama’s care about community and willingness to step on the landmine “present” vote, tells me he is capable of the first two. If he get in the Whitehouse, the third will be unavoidable. Mr. McCain’s military experiences, combined with his thoughtful votes as a Senator all these years, tell me he will also be good. As I see it, either man will handle it well. (So I’m not accused AGAIN of being sexist, I voted for Hillary in the primary.)

  • Craig said:

Second try, I hope it’s not a duplicate.

In an attempt to get some folks to wake up and learn something, before the forum crashed I had posted some thoughts on how politics works, having inside knowledge. I just felt that they are too important for people not to see them again. I edited them to make them easier to understand. Let me preface my comments with this statement: I am not trying to sway your vote. I want you to learn the facts of the issues that are important to you, learn how the candidates see these issues, (you may need to dig really deep and do a LOT of reading,) Then go vote for the candidate that you feel will best serve not only your needs, but the needs of the country in which you live. To this end, a short course in politics:

    Politics 101:
If you are running for office, you can’t always be totally honest with the public. If you are, they will use it against you. Therefore, you must pick the issues you feel the majority of the public think are important, and constantly repeat your position.
“If you hear it over and over, it must be true!”

    Politics 102:
To win, you must make your opponent appear to support ideas that are unpopular. Therefore, while not lying, you must plant an idea that will take on a life of it’s own in the passion of the voters. (See many posts in this and other forums that support primarily one side.)
“Even if it is not true, if you hear it over and over, it must be true!”

    Politics 103:
It’s the day after the election. You either got your choice or you didn’t. (It’s just so simple.) The good news is that it doesn’t really matter too much. Now it’s your turn to work! (What, voting wasn’t enough? NO!) You have to communicate your position on the issues that really matter to you. The person in office wants to stay there. To do this, they must “flip-flop,” which is just another way of saying “listen to the voters’ wishes.” Those of us with a few years on the clock remember the old TV shows that used to say “Keep those cards and letters coming, folks!” THAT is how you tell your elected officials what you want. Trust me on this, (or dig in to it and learn,) when you write, it WILL be read. It may not (read “probably won’t”) be read by the office holder, but a staffer will read each and every letter and email (email is very much encouraged these days) for the issues and your position. (Please keep it polite and clean to keep it out of the recycle bin!) The results will be given to the office holder in a spread sheet and graph, and will instantly show where he(she) should vote on an issue. How cool is that!? You can (and SHOULD) vote anytime you want. Don’t let them get away with a position you don’t like! (Unless, of course, you’re in the minority position on the issue, which doesn’t mean you have to stop writing.) This is YOUR country only as long as you refuse to give up your voice!

    Politics 104:
Don’t stop learning! (This course may be waived if you have taken: Life 101.)
READ, READ, READ, and READ some more. When you’re tired of reading, take some asprin and do it again.

YOU and ONLY YOU control the power you have in the political process and the running of our amazing government! One decision every four years is just not enough! Don’t let the excitable people, full of emotion and lies, take away your power!

    Kris,
Thank you again for the links you posted. You have given people direction to some of the most valuable internet real estate, and it’s FREE for the taking! I think this truly puts you in the position of “patriot.”

  • Wendy said:

Hey Craig, you say we need to read, so do you! What about Obama telling the coal companies that they will be fined so much when he is president they will be bankrupt. So wake up people in PA, WV, OH, KY!
There will go your jobs! And what will we do for energy, what will satisfy the ratical leftists, they don’t want coal, they don’t want nuclear, how about having little ponies being tied to posts and going around in circles to provide some power! That’s how stupid you sound!
What happened to Shelle? Can’t come back with anything to support your ignorant remarks about McCain? Everyone in my office wanted to know where you live, under what rock or Iran, North Korea? You are not a true American, and people don’t come back at me about that. You can’t say those things about one of the greatest American heroes, even your Obama says that.

  • Craig said:

    J. Slade,

Your comment on Newton’s law reminded me to repost the politics courses above. Sometimes we just need to see things from a different perspective, and you hit the nail on the head! it’s all about ACTION! (I once wrote a proof that airplanes could fly referencing Ohm’s Law because of the similarities I noticed between hydraulics and electronics. It’s amazing how everything seems to relate to everything else.)

  • Craig said:

    Wendy,

First, thank you for informing me how stupid I sound, pointing out my reading deficits, and again applying a label that you can’t possibly know, based on ONE decision in ONE election. Although I am STILL not running for office, and therefore still have no requirement to publish my voting record, I live squarely in the middle! I am an independent thinker (read just because you try to spoon feed me BS, I ain’t eatin’ it!) What are you trying to accomplish with your attacks? I definitely don’t agree with Shelle’s comments on McCain, but really! What do you expect to prove by attacking a second time? Take some drugs, or pet a cat, or watch some fish, or anything to calm down a bit! (And NO, folks, that’s not sexist! I would say exactly the same thing to George.)

Now to politely add my response to your question: “What about Obama telling the coal companies that they will be fined so much when he is president they will be bankrupt.”
Please give me a reputable reference that proves your statement so that I can catch up on my reading and get all excited too. How much will they be fined (assuming he can pass that legislation,) and what is his motive to bankrupt them? Until I read that, here’s my opinion:

While I feel for the people who work in the coal industry, we need to clean up our planet for EVERYONE’S sake. (And please don’t try to educate me on how they will loose their jobs and homes. I’ve been there and done that. I know EXACTLY what it feels like!) The short run will be tough, but people and resources can and should be redeployed to cleaner energy industries. There are useable clean coal technologies available NOW. Economic incentives or blocks are the only way to motivate companies to change direction. We have an amazing wind resource that has barely been tapped. Solar thermal is the easiest and cheapest to deploy, with the quickest payback, yet it’s use hasn’t even scratched the surface. PV (look it up) is more costly, but its advantages, where practical, are impressive by reducing the distance (and the resultant loss) that the energy must move before it’s used. If every household in America changed all of their lighting to compact fluorescent, LED, and other energy saving light sources, we could shut down several coal plants. I don’t like nukes, but the reality is that we need to use them. Do I want a bunch more? No. But the ones we have can be maintained to get us through as we migrate to cleaner and safer energy sources.

I’m sorry, but you’re barking up the wrong tree here. I’ve done a LOT of research here! (Yes, that does imply READING.) I have taken the appropriate energy conservation steps and installed alternative technologies for my own use, and I am migrating MY small business to support clean energy technologies. You can complain all you want, but if there’s a problem, it needs a solution. Please tell us your contribution to the solution.

Oh, the pony thing! Look up “Horse Power” in the “Ask the Experts” section of the December/January issue of Home Power Magazine, when it hits the news stands in a week or so. You can’t get enough energy to run the average refrigerator, and it will require about two hours per day of the horse’s time (let’s be humane,) and you’ll have to clean up about 100 pounds of political rhetoric…er…uh… Horse Poop.

If I wasn’t so ill informed by my reading problem, I’d respond further.

  • Wendy said:

Governments that seize assets & distribute to those who didn’t have an initiative to produce them tend to grab more & more power over time, until the grops that were initially served by its redistribution are its next victims. On the other hand, when a government leaves its productive creators free to own their own firstfruits, incentive is increased and even more brilliant output results.
‘Once upon a time there was a little red hen who scratched about the barnyard until she uncovered some grains of wheat. She called her neighbors & said “if we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?”
    “Not I,” said the cow.
    “Not I” said the duck
    “Not I” said the pig.
    “Not I” said the goose.
“Then I will” said the little red hen. And she did. The wheat grew tall & ripened into golden grain. “Who will help me reap my wheat?” asked the little red hen.
“Not I” said the duck. “Out of my classification” said the pig. “I’d lose my seniority” said the cow. “I’d lose my unemployment compensation” said the goose. “Then I will” said the little red hen and she did.
At last the time came to bake the bread. “Who will help me bake bread?” asked the little red hen. “That would be overtime for me” said the cow. “I’d lose my welfare benefits” said the duck. “I’m a dropout & never learned how” said the pig. “If I’m to be the only helper, that’s discrimination” said the goose. “Then I will” said the little red hen.
She baked five loaves & held them up for the neighbors to see. They all wanted some and in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said “No, I can eat the five loaves myself”. “Capitalist leech” screamed the duck. “I demand equal rights” yelled the goose. And the pig just grunted. And they painted “unfair” picket signs & marched round and round the little red hen shouting obscenities. When the government agent came, he said to the little red hen, “You must not be greedy”. “But I earned the bread” said the little red hen. “Exactly” said the agent. “That’s the wonderful free enterprise system. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations productive workers must divide their products with the idle”
And they lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled & clucked, “I am grateful, I am grateful.” But her neighbors wondered why she never again baked any more bread.

    I love fairytales!

Once upon a time, King George said “Why don’t we just round up all of the leaches on society and ship them overseas? We could call it Patriot Act II.” So after getting a title loan on the Navy fleet from China, he ordered the military to “round ‘em up and ship ‘em out!” Then all the big companies came back to stay in the land of the free and the home of the brave, because we no longer taxed them to pay for the lazy government (read population) that we had created. Now we will no longer have welfare cheats, or an unemployment system that doesn’t bother to see that so many people hang on until benefits run out” said the king. And while we’re at it, we can ship those worthless homeless people to the Saudi desert, where it’s warm, said court puppet master Dick. Halliburton smiled at the no-bid contract to move the people. We’ll have 100% employment, and everyone can have some coal in their stocking on Christmas morning, because they, too, know they must do their part to support the coal industry. Then Santa took a deep breath and said: “to all…hack…hack…hack… a good night!”

Fairytales are fun because we can suspend reality for a time.

    Wendy,
It’s been a while since I heard that story. I think it was ‘92 or so. The words have been updated a little. The problem though is that it is describing “socialism” which is the current fodder for politics 102, as it always is when we’re afraid of the Democrats. While it’s a cute tale, it still has no more (if not less) basis in reality in our system of government. Of course if you just want to go back to sleep for the next 4 years and let the politicos run on autopilot, it could come true. Personally, I have much more faith in the intelligence of our people to not let that happen (see again politics 103.)

High taxes are not wanted by anyone, but that doesn’t make them socialism! There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch! Someone has got to pay for things. One month’s worth of money from the Iraq war could probably make us almost all of the system cheats, because we wouldn’t even notice them any more. (No, that doesn’t imply that I condone the cheats. It’s an attempt to turn on the light of perspective.) YOU CAN’T HAVE IT ALL!

  • Craig said:

sorry, it should have read “…probably make us forget almost all of the system cheats…”

    Wendy,
I am really sorry to pick on you again, but I just went back to read your posts. I like to make sure I’m not misreading things. I picked up on something else. In reference to Shelle, you mentioned that “Everyone in my office wanted to know where you live…” Since I’m self employed, I can’t play on the computer during work hours. It’s a basic economics thing. I work = I eat, and I like eating a whole lot more than computers. I am somewhat curious, though, does the entire office take their breaks at the same time to follow this forum? Is your employer in any way picking up the tab here? Is the boss the “Capitalist leach” here?

I have been doing IT work for over thirty years and I hate to go to those big “cubicle farms” because it drives me nuts to see so many people complaining about how hard they work, and how little they get paid, and how high taxes are. If it was true, that would be one thing, but most are surfing the net, buying and selling on ebay, and bitching to their friends via email and text chat about how deplorable their conditions are. It seems to me that no matter how good people have it, they have to complain about someone else having more, or having it easier, or looking better, or having a bigger SUV, or… ad infinitem…

Talk about “redistributing the wealth!” On occasion, I do IT work for a “Christian” radio personality. His poor flock send in their meager contributions in the name of the Lord, and after expenses of several $ million to run the “business,” he and his wife and their many children are forced to live on less than $1.5 million a year! I’d feel sorry for their hardship if they weren’t so rude to people or if they didn’t keep asking for freebies, or if they didn’t have a new car every few months. But… You may ask why don’t I just stop working for them? I do it as a favor to another small business owner who has been good to me. It’s called “work ethic,” which has all but disappeared in the business environment.

People are so convinced that the sky is falling, but are too blind to the fact that it is just the paint peeling off the ceiling because they’re too “entitled” to take care of the basic maintenance. (Oh, yea, right, that’s a job for the illegals that we complain about, but like their work ethic so much we keep hiring them.)

It’s almost winter folks! Are you doing anything to help your fellow human who can’t help themselves? Are you volunteering you time to help anyone else? Or is that someone elses job? I’m just asking, not accusing. (That’s already been done to me because of my choice.) Tuesday will be here and gone before we know it. What do YOU do next?

    Something else to think about…

Since when did Broadband Internet Access become so necessary,
that’s it’s another promise Obama has made.
I watched a video earlier today, one of several of his campaign speeches, & one of his promises was that every household in the nation WOULD have Broadband Internet Access, even if they could’t pay for it.
I’m thinking, now wait just a minute…if everyone household will have this nice little service, then who’s gonna pay for that. You wanna’ guess on this one??? How about those of us that have phone service & pay our bill each month? How about yet another federally mandated fee that each & everyone of us have to pay to make sure that every household has it? We already pay one fee to make sure that everyone in the country has phone service & now, can we expect to pay either a larger one or be charged another fee??
Another question… if every household has Broadband Internet Access, but doesn’t have a computer, then where will they get the computers? Will that be yet another stimulus package? With the actual taxpayers picking up that tab as well?
I’ll have to try & find that link & post it for everyone to watch, for proof!!

    Middle class,
I’m 100% behind you on this one! Due to the work I do, I need it. The cable co won’t extend it .9 miles to my house for less than $40K! I use my cell phone, and PAY for it myself! Being in the industry, I see the charges that are tacked on to business bills to cover helping those that can’t. Funny thing though, it’s free at the library!
This is where we don’t let our congressmen and senators slide it by! Watch the bills they try to pass and let them know it ain’t cool!

Here is the Q&A on the broadband internet issue, I’m not sure how I feel about it but I see his point:

Q: Politicians have been talking for years about the need for high-speed Internet access. Should this be accomplished primarily through deregulation and market forces, or should the federal government give out grants or subsidies, or enact new laws?
Obama: I believe that America should lead the world in broadband penetration and Internet access. As a country, we have ensured that every American has access to telephone service and electricity, regardless of economic status, and I will do likewise for broadband Internet access. Full broadband penetration can enrich democratic discourse, enhance competition, provide economic growth, and bring significant consumer benefits.

Moreover, improving our infrastructure will foster competitive markets for Internet access and services that ride on that infrastructure. Market forces will drive the deployment of broadband in many parts of the country, but not all. To get true broadband deployed in every community in America, we need to reform the Universal Service Fund, make better use of the nation’s wireless spectrum, promote next-generation facilities, technologies, and applications, and provide new tax and loan incentives.

  • Craig said:

    dh,
OK, I apologize in advance, but here’s where I swing to the right of center. This is a subject near and dear to my heart. I live in a very rural area. I wish I could have cheap broadband internet access, but I can’t. When I first moved here, I couldn’t get it at any cost. It costs money to build infrastructure. A new tower and a new offering from my cell phone company made it possible.

While I believe in programs that protect the health and welfare of people who are otherwise unable to provide it for themselves, I think providing anything above basic telecommunications for safety at taxpayer expense doesn’t fit the test of true need. I do believe that it is necessary to deliver broadband access to all schools, including rural schools, otherwise we risk further dividing class lines at the city limits. That can fall under the cost of educating our children. But we can extend that access at lower cost to rural residents. Why not resell the unused bandwidth after school hours to the local residents via wireless service. The kids could still do their homework and the rest of the family could “enrich democratic discourse, enhance competition, provide economic growth, and bring significant consumer benefits.” Full bandwidth is not needed to accomplish these goals for the majority of residents, so the cost could be relatively low with balanced bandwidth sharing. If you run a business in a rural area, the additional cost of broadband via cell phone or satellite, while not enjoyable, is justifiable and deductible. Business needs will fill in the gaps. As the true need increases, the economics will justify the cost of extension of the infrastructure by the service providers to provide higher bandwidth. The other component of this is that the advances made in technology almost daily will surely lower infrastructure cost and increase bandwidth.

In my opinion, if we take care of the schools and take care of the students, there can be a balance between taxpayer contribution and natural economic advance. I work with technology every day, and know that the stated goals can be achieved with lower bandwidth (basically low DSL speed,) allowing for natural market forces to advance the availability of higher bandwidth as truly needed. I absolutely disagree that we need to stick this under the Universal Service Fund umbrella. That should be for basic telecom only. The reassignment of the wireless spectrum is happening as we speak, which I’m sure you know if you watch any TV. The market is already promoting the newest technologies, so we don’t need to pay for that.

I have been watching an amazing missed opportunity in the community where I live. They are going through replacing and relocating the electric distribution system. With the labor involved, pulling one more cable on those new poles, a fiber cable, would be a minimal additional cost to the electric company, yet would open untapped revenue opportunity. The problem here is the regulatory issues.

Our government tries so hard to fix everything to the extent we have stupid regulations that hinder forward progress. Why is it that when we talk about less government, the politicians go directly to social security and other programs that affect the health and security of people, yet interfere with businesses to the extent that they can’t do smart things for the right reasons, then give tax breaks to them for doing something else?

I don’t support right or left thinking (in spite of some peoples’ assumptions,) rather SMART thinking. OK, I think I need to rattle some politicians’ cage now.

On a side note that I MYSELF am concerned about I was excited to see Mccains plan regarding gas prices and taxes…. Thought it was interesting… I own two LARGE vehichles, Suburban and Dodge 2500 Diesel, and 3 kids. This one hit home for me….

    Gas and Food Prices

John McCain will help Americans hurting from high gasoline and food costs. Americans need relief right now from high gas prices. John McCain will act immediately to reduce the pain of high gas prices.

    * John McCain believes we should send a strong message to world markets. Under his plan, the United States will be telling oil producing countries and oil speculators that our dependence on foreign oil will come to an end – and the impact will be lower prices at the pump.

    * John McCain’s policies will increase the value of the dollar and thus reduce the price of oil. In recent years, the declining value of the dollar has added to the cost of imported oil. This will change. Americans will have a stronger economy, a stronger dollar and greater purchasing power for oil, gas and food.

    * John McCain believes we should institute a summer gas tax holiday. Hard-working American families are suffering from higher gasoline prices. John McCain called on Congress to suspend the 18.4 cent federal gas tax and 24.4 cent diesel tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

o Reuters: Gas Tax Holiday “Of Most Immediate Effect To Consumers.” “Of most immediate effect to consumers was his appeal to the U.S. Congress to suspend the 18.4 cent federal gas tax and 24.4 cent diesel tax from Memorial Day at the end of May to Labor Day in early September.” (Steve Holland, “McCain Proposes Tax Cuts And Lashes Democrats,” Reuters, 4/15/08)

o USA Today: “A USA TODAY Analysis Showed That McCain’s Gas-Tax Proposal Could Save Motorists $6.8 Billion In Taxes During The Summer.” (Kathy Kiely, “Gas-Tax Holiday Among McCain’s Plans For Economy,” USA Today, 4/16/08)

    * John McCain will repeal the 54 cents per gallon tax on imported sugar-based ethanol, increasing competition, and lowering prices of gasoline at the pump.

    * John McCain will roll back corn-based ethanol mandates, which are contributing to the rising cost of food.

I spent a lot of the night reading our Constitution and hoping that everyone would get the point with my post earlier. Apparently the light bulb didn’t go on for some…. So I will explain in detail.

    http://www.senate.gov/civics/constitution_item/constitution.htm

    The constitution. READ IT.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,”

A good military with accessible defense mechanisms and strategies is NECESSARY to guarantee our SECURITY and SAFETY and our FREEDOM.

“the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Our Priveledge as Citizens of this country to KEEP and Bear GUNS SHALL NOT BE TAKIN AWAY or ALTERED.

Ok now that you read that ammendment to the constitution lets all go back up and watch the video at the top of this board. I dont want to CHANGE our constitution!! Or the decleration of Independance!! I want to live by it!! Why are you wanting a politician telling us that we need to change what America Indeed Stands for?

Mccain is running against Obama. We need experience. Here is the facts, please read both links.

But just for the record…. The american people have turned Biden down since 1988 for the presidential seat when he ran against Michael Ducacus.

    Craig,
Have you gone and read Mccains actual tax plan from his website? I went to both BO website and Mc’s page and did both of their calculators… Funny I was getting more back on Mccains calculator Mccain tax beni 2087 obama I owe 1213. When I went to obamas website, I was only getting 33 dollars more under his tax plan. So regardless. Obama’s site itself told me 33 dollar difference. It has 2 columns one says obama which was only 1000 and the other said mccain 967. Is that 33 bucks worth my freedom? Worth my children’s safety? Socialism? The mere possibility of him trying to redistribute the money we all work hard for? The lack of experience? NO it is NOT WORTH IT!!! I would rather pay and know that My children grand children and great grand children etc etc etc have the priveledge to live and die in the greatest Nation on this earth. That my husband and I as public servants are not forced to work in a “national” police force and essentialy make this a communist country. We love the people we serve. And we love them enough to fight for them everyday. PLEASE STAND WITH US AND FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM. We do it everyday, I AM ONLY ASKING YOU TO DO IT TOMORROW.

    Stop and think about this!

You couldn’t get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience.

You couldn’t become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.

You couldn’t get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.

You couldn’t join the military and become a colonel after 143 days of experience.

You couldn’t get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.

    BUT. …
From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That’s how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World … 143 days.

We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that’s all it is – a start.

AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public is okay with this and campaigning for him. We wouldn’t accept this in our own line of work, yet some are okay with this for the President of the United States of America?

Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol!

    Notice to All Employees

As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama is officially elected into office, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:

    1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales and bonuses into a common pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are underachieving a “fair shake.”

    2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst yourselves. This will help those who are “too busy for overtime” to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.

    3. All top management will now be referred to as “the government.” We will not participate in this “pooling” experience because the law doesn’t apply to us.

    4. The “government” will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging it’s workers to continue to work hard “for the good of all.”

    5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it’s “good to spread the wealth.” Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more “patriotic.”

    6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don’t feel bad, though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free foodstamps, and he’ll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can’t pay your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you might even get a free flatscreen TV and a coupon for free haircuts (shouldn’t all Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?) !!!

If for any reason you are not happy with the new policies, you may want to rethink your vote on November 4th.

This election has me very worried. So many things to consider. About a year ago I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind three times since than. I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with. About six months ago, I started thinking ‘where did the money come from for Obama’. I have four daughters who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans.

I started looking into Obama’s life.

Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. ‘Barry’ (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan. During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a ’round the world’ trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate’s family, then off to Africa to visit his father’s family. My question – Where did he get the money for this trip? ! Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack – not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It’s not cheap! to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000. a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York.

By ‘chance’ he met Antoin ‘Tony’ Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Decade’ by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association’. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented ‘Rezar’ which Rezko’s firm. Rezko was one of Obama’s first major financial contributors when he ran f! or offi ce in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with ’seed money’ for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans – Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama’s new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?

On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley advisor to Obama was ’sacked’ after the press found out he was having regular contacts with ‘Hamas’, which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama’s visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will ‘Take care of things’.

Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those ’small’ Internet campaign contribution for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East?

And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on ‘This Week’ with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, ‘My Muslim faith’. When questioned, ‘he make a mistake’. Some mistake!

All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it – Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times – Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times – September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008.

Now the BIG question – If I found out all this information on my own, Why haven’t all of our ‘intelligent’ members of the press been reporting this?

A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear – ‘Beware of the enemy from within’!!!

Sorry if this double posts. I am having a hard time posting tonight….
    Part 1:
In just one year! Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following. A little over one year ago:

    1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
    2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
    3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

    1) Consumer confidence plummet;
    2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
    3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
    4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
    5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
    6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember it’s Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what’s handed to him.

Quote of the Day……..’My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.’ — Barack Obama

    Part 2:
Taxes…Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
    http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
    Single making 30K – tax $8,400 Single making 30K – tax $4,500
    Single making 50K – tax $14,000 Single making 50K – tax $12,500
    Single making 75K – tax $23,250 Single making 75K – tax $18,750
    Married making 60K – tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
    Married making 75K – tax $21,000 Married making 75K -tax $18,750

    Married making 125K – tax $38,750 Married making 125K-tax $31,250

Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates.

It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can’t wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don’t even know what happened.

Did you see where the one newsman went to Harlem & asked people on the street who they were supporting, the majority of them replyed Obama. Then he asked which issue is it the major one that makes them conclude that idea. “Is it because he is against abortion or because he will continue the war in Iraq until the job is done”? Every single one of the replyed because he is against abortion! Wow, can they read? Anyway, he next asked “What do you think about Gov Sarah Palin for his running mate, do you think she will make a good Vice Pres?” Every single one of them again said “Oh yes, she will make a wonderful Vice-Pres”! They don’t even know what on earth is going on, they are voting strickly on race alone. Very sad

Kris, just a quick note here. Taxfoundation link was good. Youtube and Rush Limbaugh don’t cary any weight. It’s funny that so many say he can’t get FBI clearance, yet he is on the Homeland Security Committee, and its international security sub committee. The spread sheet fine print said “[All figures are estimates based on samples]“, but even if I took it as gospel, it still shows that while the rich paid “more” taxes, the percentage they paid of their income was lower. And lastly, I am one of those strange people that believes we should watch our spending and pay our bills (a requirement that, as a citizen, am not allowed to circumvent without bankruptcy.) That means less spending and more taxes. We can not recover the economy without biting the bullet and paying more in taxes to reduce the ridiculously high deficit. Yes, the Democrats raise taxes and shy away from expensive wars, but the Republicans have lowered taxes, pushed wars that kill thousands of OUR kids, and put us deeply in debt to OTHER nations, with China topping the list. They OWN us, but we just want to keep borrowing more! What happens when, as a nation, we’re bankrupt? (Morally, we’re already there!) Can you speak Chineese? There REALLY IS NO FREE LUNCH!

    Hey,

It’s election day, and i am excited and proud to be voting for Obama! I can’t wait till i can come back here after Obama is elected and just harass the shit out of all of you.

Let’s face it. Most of you people who are all anit-Obama have been making up your stupid excuses and reasons for hating him.

Why can’t you just be honest with yourselves? You don’t want Obama to win, and have been making up wild stories because you hate black people. You are racist, just admit it, it’s ok (well no, not at all) but still be honest, it’s better than making up all this shit you have been throwing.

So let’s all get ready for Obama’s big win, and get ready to celebrate the good times that are to come!

    Chuck

  • Wendy said:

What is so funny is that people love Obama’s handout which after every person that doesn’t pay income tax and fills out a tax return they will only get $500! That’s how many people don’t pay taxes. A lousy $500, where is that going to get you?

  • Wendy said:

Hey Chuck, just like all democrats, you are always right and you think you are always the winner. Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched!

my employer has already stated, that when Obama raises his taxes, he will no longer be able to keep as many people on the payroll. I’ve suggested to him that the first people to be let go should be those whose cars proudly proclaim “OBAMA 08″ out in the parking lot. They want “change”…. give it to them!

  • Craig said:

Wendy, I’m sorry that I can’t return the favor and dislike you, but other than what you post on here, I don’t know you from Adam. You have shown that you have some pretty well set in stone ideas about people in general, “people of color,” and us terrible Democrats who are all alike, which is sad, because sometimes you can learn the most from people who are different from you and who think different from you. (Sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t fit your implication of the label of “person of color” either, although my skin does have color and changes slightly with the seasons and state of dress.) I said before the forum crashed that I believe most of us on here have pretty much the same values, but differ in ideas on how things should get done. (Welcome to the USA!) You complained about how the “people of color” that you saw on the news were making decisions without a clue. Try not to read this as a personal attack, because it isn’t, (its just a question to inspire thought,) but, since your postings on here are based on news stories and political spin, and since you have at no time offered any proof for your “facts,” exactly then what is it that makes you any different from the people you label? I REALLY don’t think I’m any better than you, just different. I respect you for being a contributor to the economy, and caring about this election. I just have different views. (And the ability, freedom, and responsibility to share them.)

I hope you have voted. Have a great day!

  • Wendy said:

Craig, actually I don’t have well set in stone ideas the way you say. I work in a more diverse place than you can imagine and have friends of many different colors, religions, etc. I have no problem with them and we don’t all agree on our outlooks. But I do have a hard time with someone that writes out all this that “I am supposed to believe with no proof” but can’t face it when others tell you things you don’t agree on. And when you say that I am no different from the people I label, actually that is not true. At my job I have had doors let go in my face, pulling out in front of me in the parking lot, ATTITUDES, only because I am not the same as them. I will vote after work, guess I will wait the hours because of the line but I believe that every citizen is required to vote, it is their duty! You have a great day also and hope the better man wins! (McCain) ha!

  • Craig said:

Here’s the first part of the last entry. I didn’t get the whole thing:

    Wendy,
If I wanted you to like me, I’d use my knowledge of how the system works, and run for office. I’m truly sorry if your perception is that I think I’m the only one with some sense. There are quite a few on here that are very thoughtful and have a lot of sense that are voting different than me, and for them, that vote is exactly the right one, and I applaud them for doing the work and choosing rationally. That’s how the country should work. There are also many on here (on BOTH sides) that do nothing but spew out accusations and phony facts with no basis in verifiable truth. One of those was the person who said the mean things about McCain’s POW time. There have been some postings on here that I have interjected my OPINION and have labeled it as such. (I believe I still have the right to do that under the constitution???) My primary reason for continuing to post in the light of all the hatred and misinformation on here is that I just want folks to look for the truth, and make their decisions from a valid knowledge base, and maybe even calm down a bit. I’ve been called bad names and given labels that aren’t even close to reality solely on the basis of my choice of ONE candidate in ONE election. I don’t care who you vote for, as I truly believe that anyone we elect will do a better job than what’s been done lately.

You are absolutely right! Your work IS none of my business. You mentioned sharing the saga of this forum with your coworkers, which reminded me of all the times I have seen the time wasting office gossip that, in reality, does not confine itself just to break times. I used that opening to talk about the subject of the complainers wasting time while being upset that they weren’t getting a better deal. The fairytale that you posted was such a great example of what happens in so many office settings, yet those are the very people who complain the loudest, with their boss being the “capitalist leach.” Welcome to the internet!

Since taxation seems to be a sticking point for so many MC supporters. I would just like to ask what you all think we should do to get out of the incredible deficit that the Bush administration will be leaving the next Pres to deal with? More importantly, what would an MC Administration do? If you all really believe that he will take a “hatchet” to spending, you are being a bit naive. We can’t just keep printing money folks.

It is not as though McCain can keep all of those campaign promises any more than Obama can. The problem is that so many people only look at the outside shiny surface of a campign promise and do not delve deaper into the ramifications. Example:

MC’s health plan would be funded in part by cutting into medicare (the poorest and the sickest will be hurt) and by RAISING taxes by taxing your benefits. His proposal is another opening to privatize Medicare and destroy it as a governmment insurance program, under which everyone who has paid into the system is entitled to equal benefits as a matter of right. Is that the right thing to do to our senior citzens who depend on medicare to receive basic health care? Do the American People want Medicare adequately funded with public revenue, or does it want to shove the increasing costs of care onto beneficiaries, along with their children, who will be saddled with health care expenses when mom and dad can’t pay. This is aproblem we will ALL have to face. It is NOT such an issue for the wealthy but is is a basic humanitarian issue which I believe we should ALL be concerned with.

I am sure that I will be ” tarred and feathered” by Kris, Wendy & Middleclass because I am a “Democrat” and I don’t believe that OB Is a threat to our country. So let it fly!

  • Wendy said:

Patty, do you not understand that the economy is not in the shape it is today because of Pres. Bush? We have had a democratic congress for the last 2 yrs, who do you think makes the decisions?
Oh, and by the way, I heard Obama talk about his grandmother passing last night. I have every bit of sympathy for him but he needs to study his history. He said that his grandmother, who was born in 1922, the same as my mother, lived through 2 world wars. I didn’t know WW1 was still going on in 1922.

    Hey Craig,
I believe you posted showing an interest in hearing Obama state his intentions of bankrupting the coal industry. Here’s a couple of links for you:
    http://media.newsbusters.org/stories/hidden-audio-obama-tells-sf-chronicle-he-will-bankrupt-coal-industry.html?q=blogs/p-j-gladnick/2008/11/02/hidden-audio-obama-tells-sf-chronicle-he-will-bankrupt-coal-industry
    http://hotair.com/archives/2008/11/02/obama-ill-make-energy-prices-skyrocket/

    Other news:
I recently viewed a dreaded “pie chart”, here’s some interesting figures:

    66% Caucasian – 40% For Obama – 53% For McCain
    15% Hispanic – 49% For Obama – 34% For McCain
4% Asian – No figures available
    12% Black – 97% For Obama – 2% For McCain
    3% Other – 45% For Obama – 51% For McCain

Now you can study this “pie chart” and form your own opinions, but I have to query the fact about just who it is that is actually racist.
Another percentage I found interesting is the percentage of Hispanic versus the Black percentage. I have to wonder just how many of the Hispanic are really here legally. How has the Hispanics managed to get to a point where they actually outnumber the Blacks, whom most have been born here in the States?
I visit another chat room daily, which is geared for the construction industry. One guy posted that he had been working side by side with a Hispanic, earning the same wages, however, the Hispanic had to take time off from work one day, because he needed to go & get his food stamps.
The wage being made??? Try $1800 net for the week. Now how in the Sam Hill, did this guy qualify for food stamps??
There was some question about whether this guy was actually here legally or not. My main point here is that due to the high number of illegals in this country receiving benefits they are not entitled to, is another of Obama’s “changes”. He wants to make all these illegals Amerian Citizens.
He’s also been filmed telling American, English speaking people, they don’t need to worry about immigrants learning English, but we need to make sure our children learn Spanish. He voted against English being kept as our first language, which has been that way since the inception of this country.
I’ve posted on here before, but I’ll post again….All the illegals need to be rounded up & sent back to their homeland, then we would see some funds being freed up, & government would no longer to have a need to immediatly raise out taxes. This includes Obama’s Auntie that has been living here illegally for 4 years living in government housing.

  • Wendy said:

Also, so you think Obama’s health care plan is better? Socialized medicine? I live right across the bridge from Canada and every day I see hundreds of Canadian citizens come here to the U.S. to our hospital because they have socialized medicine. They have to wait sometimes too late to be seen, and have witnessed from one of the nurses in our clinic that her father couldn’t get the tests and procedures done soon enough before he passed. Ask the people in Britian, Italy where my niece lives and she came home to have some tests made and a procedure done because she knew she was way down on the waiting list. I’ve got a tip for you, if you need medical treatment, just go to the emergency room as they cannot turn anyone away. My youngest daughter had emergency surgery this past summer, had peritinitis which is deadly and she has no insurance. Guess what, they took her in from the emergency room (where her family doctor told her husband to take her) they did major surgery and told me if she would have waited she would not have survived. So don’t even try to convince me that socialized medicine will work, I know first hand it won’t. The doctors I work for have told me this many, many times.

Sweetie, check out the links about Obama bankrupting the coal industry, then come back & restate that Obama won’t do any harm to the country.
Listen to words from his own mouth stating that he wants to grant immunity to the 12.5 million illegals that is in our Country, most of which are already on the welfare rolls, receiving Medicare (basic health care) & are not entitled to receive those benefits. Then come back & restate that Obama won’t do any harm to the country.
My 80 yr old Mother is on Medicare, she receives pretty darn good care, which I’m glad of, since I’ve paid as much as I have into the program.
The drawback is that she has to pay for that coverage out of her SS check each month & still responsible for her medication. Try living on $1000 each month, then look at the immigrants that are receiving $3000 per month. Immigrants living better than our Senior Citizens??!! Do you see a problem with this?? I’m sorry but, in my opinion, there have been too many illegals & immigrants allowed into this country & allowed to live off the government, which is actually our tax dollars. Our Social Security fund that has been in the news for several years, has been paying for all of this & a good bit of this started back with the Carter Administration & got bigger during the Clinton Administration.
There are so many things wrong in this government & a huge amount should be “hatcheted” out. I for one could care less about the breeding habits of any species, i.e. for the government to keep issuing grants for 10-30 years. I mean really how long does it take for this kind of discovery? I’m sure that we could all wade through some of the programs & get rid of them because we don’t need them, saving alot of taxpayers money, which could then be shifted to other more important issues that could truly benefit all American citizens.

    Middle Class,
Thank you for the links. It was good to hear Obama’s actual words. Even though it was just a portion of the entire conversation, (which is how spin is done,) I was able to hear his words, and agree that he blew it with his choice of words. The real information was that he wants to set aggressive cap and trade agreements. See: http://www.epa.gov/airmarkt/cap-trade/index.html for cap and trade info. The caps are on the actual emission levels, not on the plants being built or operated. Using clean coal technologies, combined with trades for credits from clean energies like wind, hydro, and unfortunately nuclear (injection of my opinion,) coal could still be used as a reasonable source of power. If you understand cap and trades, and the energy technologies available (which I have been watching closely for the last 35 years,) he was just saying “get with the program or else.” This is an economic incentive program to move the industry in the direction that is needed. He still has to convince congress to agree with him to make it happen. Now we’re back to the writing campaign. Learn the coal industry, learn about the current threat to the environment (that some don’t even believe exists,) put some thought into what a fair cap would be to balance the needs of the industry while reducing harmful emissions, then write!

    Army M-n-L,
So many here are convinced that we’re going to turn into a socialist nation. My son has been hearing this same argument (we’re in rural NC) and suggested to prevent this we could just outlaw all “socialist” programs in our government. I said “For example?” He said “Well, first, there’s public schools, then police and fire protection. We can get more guns and build more ponds.” I thought this was an interesting concept (not practical, just interesting.) So we brainstormed some more institutions that would have to fall. We came up with: roads, traffic lights, building inspections, municipal run power plants, department of motor vehicles, and my favorite, the IRS. (Why should I be forced to pay them to bully me and take my money? I’m sure the mobsters would love to get in on this action!) What about the military? His answer: “We’re supposed to have a militia. More guns for us! Yea!” And who’s going to pay for those guns? And, oh, by the way, aren’t you joining the Air Force? “Oh, yea. Damn!”

  • Chuck said:

I really don’t have to justify anything, or answer any questions. I tried that back before this things reset or crashed, but what ever answer i provided, no matter what argument i presented, someone shot it down with an answer that normally involved the antichrist, hitler, muslims, or turning america into a socialist state.

I gave up on trying to argue any points, but you guys are too crazy to leave alone. Too much fun, i have to harass you. Then when someone starts yelling for everyone to ignore me, i lay low for a week, and then come back for more.

Also, so you have 2 A.American cousins. They happen to be black, huh. I bet you have started more than one comment with, “I don’t mean to be racist…” if you have ever seriously said that then you are racist. And thinking that just because one of your relatives marries a black person automatically exempts you from racism, then you are wrong, and as soon as you bust a line like, “i have black people in my family” it proves my point. You may not be an active racist , but you are a closet racist.
Why don’t you tell me why Ronald Reagan was bad? Or why don’t you tell me why black people are so prone to heart problems? Well? but then again you could just google those, yup there is nothing to do but go ahead and come to terms with yourself.

You’ll be one of the first crying about the Great Ones changes, when he makes it so hard for you lose your job, that is, if you even have one, and can’t find another one cause he’s granted immunity to the 12.5 illegals and they’ve taken “all the jobs that Americans won’t do”.
Here’s some food for thought for you fool….
It’s better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth & remove all doubt. Abraham Lincoln

Craig, by no means was that religious discrimination, just factual. It’s one of the worst moves Americans could have made. I stated earlier that I would much preferred seeing Colin Powell going into office. At least, he has served America in the military & actually shown that he was truly American at heart.

Just another “tid-bit” of info you might be interested in from your “old uncle” Mr. Pragmatic:

Since we have a “New President Elect”, he will have to deal with our ailing Financial Markets and the “700 billion dollar Bailout”. Now here’s the kicker! Actually, the Government doesn’t bail anybody out! They simply “create” credit and make it available to those on the “Inside”. (that’s why they poured 700 billion in at the top , when the bleeding is being done at the bottom). Unknown to all you “Smart-asses” like “Chuck” (who just elected Barack OCarter into office) every “Bailout” costs every “Dollar Holder” dearly because it dilutes their Dollars and the result is “Reduced Purchasing Power”. They steal Trillions of dollars this way and (with the help of the Democratics and your new “President Elect”) they will finally reduce the Middle Class in America to POVERTY! The Federal Reserve is printing money (out of thin air) and flooding the market to try to float it! It will not work!

There is plenty of precedent and history. (You never have the brains to study history carefully, that’s why you are DOOMED to repeate it!) It happened in Germany in 1923 when they had to pay reparations after WWI. It ruined most of the German people. Only those who were smart enough to buy gold and foreign currencies preserved their savings! (Why do you think Buffet is buying up Foreign Currencies?) And FDR (Bill Clinton’s mentor) tried it back in 1938 (the “New Deal”) and it prolonged “The Great Depression” indefinitely! Some “DEAL” huh? (That was FDR’s version of “Spreading the Wealth”) The only thing that brought us out of it was WWII! So, we are heading down that same old “Slippery Slope” thanks to all of you Hippies who just elected this guy! It’s OK. You will just blame it on Bush like everything else. But who will you blame for the “Next War”, the Democrats will be forced to start, to pull us out of this “New Depression”? Sarah Palin maybe? You tied her to “The Whipping Post” before! Why not again?

It Doesn’t matter. When Obama gives “Amnesty” to the 25 to 30 million Illegal Aliens in the U.S. (12 Million my ass!) they won’t “Bite the Hand that Feeds Them”. As soon as he gives them Health Care, Social Security (even though they didn’t pay a dime into the system), Drivers Licenses, and God knows what else, on “OUR DIME”, he will have all the votes he ever needs! There goes our “System of Political Parties” and the “Republic” as we know it! Maybe we can call it the “NEW SQUEAL”?
There will be plenty of that going on when you see your new tax bill!
Every dollar you make over 90,000 will be taxed 7%! Every dollar you make over 42,000 will be taxed 4.5%! The Bush tax cuts will sunset(there will be no way to stop it) and there goes another 6% across the boards! And the Democrats haven’t even started yet! They will hand a “Government Check” to the 50% of the people who don’t pay any taxes! ON YOUR DIME! That’s not a tax-cut that’s a HANDOUT! I call it WELFARE! These “Compasionate Social Programs” are what got this Country in the mess it’s been in since Lyndon B. Johnson started all this crap back in the 60s’

Isn’t it interesting though, that “94%” of all U.S. mortgages are being paid ON TIME! Yes, the facts are in, I said 94%! Could this whole “Housing Thing” just be “Smoke and Mirrors”, some “Slight of Hand”, to capture the “Headlines” at Election Time while they “Shoe-In” the most Socialistic Presidential Candidate since the creation of this Great Nation? Did Obama get the “Scrutinity” a candidate for the President of the United States really needed? (or the people of this Country really deserved?) Or, were we too busy watching our retirements and holdings dissapear? Or watching the “Constitutionally Protected Media” give Obama 74% favorable coverage as opposed to 14% negative. (Unheard of in a “Free Country”, where the Media is supposed to be “Fair and Ballanced”). HA! It is a known fact that when you repeat something to the “weak minded” hundreds of times, they WILL believe it! Obama did it”600 MILLION” times. I think we fell for the “Old Three Card Monty”! Only time will tell. Again, don’t say we didn’t warn you. Hold on to your hats kids! HERE WE GO! IT’S GOING TO BE A BUMPY RIDE!

When your mommy has time to teach you to read, why don’t you go back and do that (you know, read?) and tell me exactly when I said “white people hate black people?” While you’re at it, see if your oh-so-massive brain can figure out what race I am, as if it even matters. And then, if you haven’t stroked out by then, see if you can figure out where on here people are trying to convince you that you’re racist if you don’t vote for Obama. If you looked at the demographic charts that have been plastered all over the news, (which is apparently considered a valid source by many on here,) a hell of a lot more white people voted for him than black people. If you cracked open that tiny little pea brain and bothered to read, (oh, yea, I forgot, you can’t,) I’ve been on here trying to get people to vote based on issues important to them, using verifiable facts, no matter WHO their candidate of choice is. I’ve also been trying to get people to voice their opinion to their elected representatives and PARTICIPATE in the process. Unfortunately, even if you do that, your letters and emails will be ignored. Can YOU figure out why? Take your time. It’ll be OK.

    Mr. Pragmatic,
Enjoy Fiji! Someone will step up on the holidays and feed those vets.

Well it’s over! Obama won although not my choice but I have to accept the fact that he will be our next President. I will watch and listen and make sure that if he or the others in Congress try to reduce my way of life and not live up to their bargains my representative will wish that I didn’t have them on speed dial. The majority voted for who they felt could do or give them the most. I for one have never taken anything from my Country. I will however make my small point of not listening to the bias news stations and I will cancel my weekly paper. It will probably not make a difference but it will make me feel better. The discusting slams against the republican party and Sarah Palin were atrocious. The Susan Sarandons, Alec Baldwins, Tina Feys in Hollywood regretably will remain in America. I will however make a point of not watching your movies as my boycott for your childish responses. I think the reason for my melancholy feeling today is greatly due to the fact that the people of this country were not informed and only voted to have the first black man as President. I will give President Obama Elect kudos for his eloquant speeches but in my mind there was no substance behind them. I will wait an see and I for one will make sure that my voice is heard. Many of you on this blog have been very informative and it has been a pleasure reading all of your comments. I would however like to make a point of letting Chuck know that I didn’t vote for Obama and it wasn’t because he was black, he’s an inexperienced attorney with a great gift to gab however his associations with the wrong kind of people made many bells go off for me. I for one feel that you only as good as the friends you keep. Again, thanks for all of the terrific information.

I believe he is the antichrist and sooner or later people will begin to see the truth but by then it wil be too late. He is already putting in peoples heads to reelect him in 4 years because it will take more than two terms to fix things. He is smooth in his talk but if you really believe that he loves America you are a fool. He has too many ties to shady and crooked people. His promise to weaken our military is putting us in a bad position, we are now sitting ducks. Why do you think Iran endorsed him, because they know that he will not protect his people. If you think that he is going to help the economy you’re blind, what he wants to do is destroy it. He’s not worried about anything, he has tons of money and you know he won’t give any of his up. It’s sad that America is so blind that we don’t see the truth. My prayer is that God will have His hand on America and protect His people because our new President Elect isn’t going to.

Linda, I know that “some” will think it childish but I agree whole heartedly with you. I refuse to spend my “hard earned money” on movies, etc for anyone that supported BO. At least Arnold is smarter than the rest, too bad he can’t run for president! By the way, what was done about the Black Panthers standing in front of a polling site yesterday in Philly, to intimidate the white voters? And all of you call us racists? Did you watch last night as black people were leaving after voting and were asked if race had any impact on their vote. They all said yes, of course. We (meaning white) owe them, what about the one lady that showed on fox news that was beside herself screaming “Yay, Obama will pay my mortgage and put food on my table”. Wait, if he’s going to do that for you I want it too! Oh, those that scream racist at the white people are the ones most guilty! After watching the speeches last night & the camera shots of the “We have overcome” crowds around the nation it finally brought out all my emotions & fears about this victory. These emotions & fears that only a white person can feel who lives in or around the city of Detroit. I am thoroughly convinced that Obama and most of the nation could never understand these feelings. I list them in no order of preference or severity. They are just a list of everyday life in Detroit. They are my thoughts & the thoughts of MANY! I live in Detroit and the mayor has just been convicted of multiple felonys and actually was elected not once but twice even though the handwriting was clearly on the wall his firm term. This is Detroit, fatherless children. Multiple last names of brothers & sisters. Mothers referring to their sex partners as “Baby Daddy”. Generation after generation of degererate life styles. Grandmothers raising most black children. Gnerations welfare dependant & no end in sight or remorse for being on welfare. (or should I call it state aid?) Millions of dollars of unpaid taxes, tickets, mortgages, loans….. Reverse discrimination at its worse, alive and well in Detroit. The “I’ve got that coming to me” attitude amongst blacks in the city. The false prophets who run Detroit’s ellicit pulpits teaching hate & biogtry but never a word of self reliance or get a job or wear a condom for Christ’s sake! Detroit schools failing year after year because the School Board is corrupt & has been for the last 40 yrs. When my brother sold food for Sysco yrs ago one of his accounts was Det Public School system. Not only did I have to pay bribes, (bids), it was asked for point blank by the school board pres to deliver gym equipment to his house, food to his freezer & hundreds of tickets for events around town, only to be outbid (out bribed) by someone else 2 yrs later. One of the things that always bothered him was the bad condition of the schools he visited & the lost look on the teacher’s faces. Just look at the school board makeup & leadership quality. Not one person is there without a personal agenda. Even the new DPS pres has given up because she can’t control the corruption. She is about to be fired because she will not bend to the bribery. The total embarrassment the Det Casino’s have become because of the mostly black, mostly uneducated black staff that takes pride in ignoring any request a whilte customer might have. Go to Ceasar Windsor in Canada and compare. Black linguistics flourishing in the black community making it even a greater divide between races. You need a linguistic geographer to carry on a conversation. Total disregard for human life. Murder has become a ho-hum event in the city. Felons running & ruining the streets. Aids is now a leading killer of Det blacks. Detroit’s third world feel & refusal to pick itself up by its bootstraps. Littering, illegal dumping, loitering, homeless epidemic. Start right here Mr Obama. Start right here in Detroit. If you can fix Detroit right now you will be one of the greatest presidents of our time, not just the first black one (actually he is as much white as black). Help us now. Detroit’s faults can’t be blamed of its white residents or it’s surrounding area. It’s the fault of the black, corrupt leadership that has been in charge for the past 40 yrs. Please help Detroit now!

I agree with Linda, Kris, & you. Mr. Pragmatic has made some good
points, loudly, but he does agree with us. There are others that have
posted on here that agree as well.
I am truly saddened that our young people that have attended college in the last 10 years have been pumped so full of liberal garbage & were able to be blinded by Obama’s euphoric, utopian painted picture.
What makes me even sadder, is that should I live that long, 20 years from now, they will be totally in charge.
I, personally, will be making a few changes in my lifestyle. Quite possibly taking up the lifestyle of the Amish. Paying off all debts, cutting back to the absolute bare necessities. I won’t help pay for everyone to have Broadband Internet Access, this is not one of life’s necessities like a telephone could be considered. We’re already paying for that on our phone bill, through the Universal charge.
I plan on cutting back so far that it won’t take much to live on, that way I won’t be paying for everyone that doesn’t want to work, but live on Obama’s handouts. I’m sick to death of the “ME” mentality, or the I can’t work cause….
At this point in my life, I had started seriously thinking of that goal for retirement. That goal just got pushed so far out, that I can now expect to be working when I die. With all the government bailouts, now with Obama being elected, the tax deficit won’t be paid back in my lifetime.
Hope everyone has started looking for some convenient, inexpensive
Spanish 101, or Swahili 101 language courses. You’re gonna be needing them very soon. Obama said so himself, about the Spanish, at least.

    Kris,

Thank you for the kind words. I still stand by my choice for my reasons, but I promise that if time proves me wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it. It may surprise you, but I didn’t vote a straight ticket. Each candidate got their own scrutiny. I voted for the Republican candidate for governor of my state in part because he ran the cleanest campaign of any in the nation. Unfortunately, he lost due to the mass distrust of the Republican party. My state also lost a very good Republican senator that has done well for us for many years, because at the last minute she decided to attack her opponent’s religious beliefs. Her attack cost her the election in a strong McCain state because people just thought she went over the edge. I find this sad, because all of the dirty campaigning just prevents the REAL facts from coming to the surface. I have no doubt that because of this knee-jerk reaction, we have a few more sleazy folks in office, and have lost some good ones. I still believe in the system. I am slightly more hopeful now, though, because the shear numbers of people that wanted to have their voice heard stood up and voted! Now, if everyone will just watch all of their elected officials and keep their voices high, I have great faith that our 232 year-old “experiment” in government will continue to be a great success. It is easier now, than ever before to communicate with our folks in office. For all the garbage that’s available on the internet, it has made the distance between people so much shorter.

    Middle Class,
I can tell you from personal experience how much freedom you will feel if you do the life style reduction. Mine started, not by choice, with the loss of a job and the subsequent loss of my house. I realized that as long as my well being relied on others too heavily, it could happen again. After that, I could no longer enjoy working for another. I became my own boss, and can provide the level of service to my customers that I want to, not what some corporate spread sheet says I have to. I have happy customers that keep calling on me because I give them what they need for a fair price. Financially, it’s not easy, but I know that every day, my earnings are a direct result of my effort. I also have the freedom to spend more time with my kids, even though they are grown. Living with the bare necessities is more liberating than you can imagine. When you learn just how little it really takes to live a happy life, there is suddenly more time and resources available to help those you care about. Oh, yea, one more big benefit! You pay a LOT LESS in taxes!

Hang in there people! As a nation, we’ve survived every president before our next. We can do it. Have some of that faith that has been preached on here to no end!

  • kris said:

I will tell you this. My husband and I bought several rifles and guns this past week, we wanted to be sure we were prepared for anything. Do you all know that when we called today to try and place one more order the PRICES have gone THROUGH THE ROOF!!! It is crazy. I think people are starting to wake up and ask themselves what in fact they just did.

Chuck, I am not RACIST and I NEVER WILL BE. You need to quit using race as an excuse. The color of skin has absolutely NOTHING to do with how you use your brain and your work ethic and religious beliefs. It is only one thing. The color of your skin. Why do you always refer back to race? Nobody wants this to be a color contest. Take the color away, take the people away.

This is my HOPE. (although it will never happen, here is for hoping!)

That when the next election comes around it doesn’t take 2 years to campaign and mud sling. My hope is that we go up to the polling computers and be asked, do you believe in this issue… ie abortion: are you for abortion against abortion or for it in the case of rape or the mothers life being at risk. then you click next to which of the answers you agree with. WITHOUT KNOWING THE CANDIDATE NAME RACE NOTHIN. At the end of all the issues it will tell you thank you for voting, you voted for….. BASED SOLELY ON YOUR BELIEFS. NOT RACE NOT ANYTHING ELSE. The only down fall I see is that someone with little experience could be elected, but shoot, that just happened!!! Then NOBODY could SCREAM RACE OR ANYTHING ELSE!!!

Now for one more point. Last night at obamas victory celebration there were signs that said Ulysses Southern Baptist Church with a large amount of a.americans dancing and jumping around. My question to you, is this…. Southern Baptists (WHITE OR BLACK), Believe very deeply in PRO LIFE. There is NO WAY that with their religious beliefs would vote for someone that believes in abortion. Especially 3rd term. I dont know how many of you know how abortions are actually done, but being in the medical field I will tell you to actually do your research. It will make you want to throw up. So why did they vote for him?? I will tell you this. It was a race issue.

If I were obama I would be ashamed that I was voted the next president based on the color of my skin and not my experience or intellect.

Shame on all of you who made this about race. And the harlem new york audio was indeed amazing. I listened to it myself. Very uneducated people.

Alot of them were expecting sarah palin to walk out on stage last night with BO. What a shame to waste the next 4 years based solely on the color of skin.

SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND. THE YOUNG WOMAN PRESSED HER FOREARM AND
THE BEEP STOPPED. THE OTHERS LOOKED AT HER QUESTIONINGLY. ‘THAT WAS MY

A FEW MINUTES LATER, A PHONE RANG. THE SECOND YOUNG WOMAN LIFTED HER PALM TO
HER EAR. WHEN SHE FINISHED, SHE EXPLAINED, ‘THAT WAS MY MOBILE PHONE. I HAVE
    A MICROCHIP IN MY HAND.’

THE OLDER WOMAN FELT VERY LOW -TECH. NOT TO BE OUT DONE, SHE DECIDED SHE HAD
TO DO SOMETHING JUST AS IMPRESSIVE. SHE STEPPED OUT OF THE SAUNA AND WENT TO
THE BATHROOM. SHE RETURNED WITH A PIECE OF TOILET PAPER HANGING FROM HER
    REAR END.

THE OTHERS RAISED THEIR EYEBROWS AND STARED AT HER.

THE OLDER WOMAN FINALLY SAID… ……WELL, WILL YOU LOOK AT
    THAT….I’M GETTING A FAX!!

And if we feel insecure enough to bomb another country because of this, then we no longer have the power we thought we had. Yes, 9/11 was a terrible thing and I know what it feels like to have a loved one in danger every single day. But the citizens of the Middle East did not commit this act, a specific group did. We should not take our anger out on innocent people to justify a hate crime. We are just as bad then. I also received a flier in the mail stating that Obama will take away our gun rights-NOT TRUE-another attempt for McCain and the state’s republicans to make up for their unpopularity. Due to the current economic crisis, we will ALL be in debt for years, this will not be an overnight change. Yes, things will probably get worse before they get any better. And yes, our taxes may fluctuate, but its for a good cause in the end. No one is perfect, do we really expect our government (by the imperfect people, for the imperfect people) to be? Its about time we get someone in office who has really experienced economic hardship and strife. He understands America and its people. It doesn’t matter who the president is in the end, the country is what the people make it through their attitudes and values. And according to this discussion board, our attitudes are dragging us down the drain.

but anyway, go Obama, and yes it may take a year, a term, 2 terms, to fix things. bush screwed alot of stuff up, either actively or by neglect. And it will take time for Obama to right these things.

    Hi everyone;
You know, I just wanted to say that although we may not all agree with each other on who should have been elected, the cream has actually risen to the top. Since there has only been a hand full of us left blogging daily, I wanted to let you know, the nice ones are the ones left here.
Heck, even Chuck sounded decent in his last post.
Craig, even though you voted for Obama, lol, you sound like a pretty decent guy. I have to tell you, your last post clued me in to where you live, just wanted to say howdy neighbor. Even though we’re not in the same state, news about your senator made it here on our local news. It’s a shame D lost her senate seat.
Let me tell you, as for the cutting back, we won’t have that far to go really. We made great money in online auctions last year, hubby worked construction shutdowns a good bit of the year. We took what he made and began with land clearing & setting up of a single wide mobile home.
We’ve done some massive remodeling, ran out of funds, so he had to go back out. The home is paid for, but as I sit here, I’ve been staying in a travel trailer for a year now. Can’t get moved into home until it’s finished.
We never have been ones for getting into debt, our main debt at this point is some credit card debt from auctions, which dropped drastically this past year. We’ve been getting those paid off one by one in the last month & expect to be completely out of debt before year’s end.
We’ll have our month to month living expenses, so any extra cash will start being put into our home safe. Don’t think we’ll let it lay in any bank.
If we build a home generator to produce our own power, that will cut out the power bill. Been seriously thinking about cutting off the Dish Network service because of the support they showed Obama. Sorry Craig.
Been meaning to look at my cell bill & see if they charge the Universal fee, if not, I’ll probably cut out the land line service.
We live out in the country, so there is no Broadband, Hi-speed internet service here either. I go online with a cell phone to get decent speed.
We’re about to get the conversion kits put on our vehicles to help cut back on the gas usage. Since our vehicles are paid for, this seems to be the most logical move for us. I suppose if we try real hard, we could find a way to convert our central heat to use wood burning heat. Got plenty of that here. So, we’ve already been trying to do things to cut back.
We were in hopes of being able to being hoarding some funds for retirement. Hubby is 60, and won’t be able to continue in the construction field for long. He may be able to hold out for a couple of more years, but that’s pushing it I think.
By the way, Kris, that joke was really funny. Thanks I needed that badly!!

That’s neat to hear about the house (except for the still not in it part.) If you are interested in solar, check out Home Power magazine. It is for and run by people who really care about their stewardship of our planet. They’re a real good bunch of folks. I had the pleasure to take a solar business class from them. The magazine has a lot of helpful information about all things alternate energy. You mentioned converting the vehicles. Are they diesel? My brother has converted 3 so far, and is on his 4th now. He doesn’t use kits, just designs as he goes. If you’re interested in talking more about this, just click on my name. I built a throway email just for this occasion. (which is open to anyone who wants to be nice. ;) )

    Have fun!

    Craig,
Thanks, I’ll take a look at the Home Power mag.
Our vehicles are regular unleaded fuel. When gas was up to $4 gallon,
we weren’t happy. Got a full size pickup to pull travel trailer & a mini van.
It was taking, on average $120 to fill up the pickup, & $80 plus to fill the van. We had a candy vending route for years, so needed the van to be able to work the route. Otherwise, I would be in a smaller vehicle.
You know, as it goes, we’ve always been conservative people, we don’t have to keep up with the Joneses to be happy.
I’ll tag your email & add it to my addresses so we can chat more.
    Have a Good Evening!

There’s one thing I would like to stress, If Pres Bush has had that much power to have what you call “screwed up this country” so bad then what makes you think Obama won’t have the power to fix it in “one” term or what, “maybe 2 because it’s screwed up so bad”? Come on, why CAN’T ANYONE EVER, EVER SAY WHAT THE REAL PROBLEM WAS??????? CONGRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have had a democratic congress for 2 yrs, does that kind of sound familiar with the amount of time that has surpassed since things have gone down the toilet here in this great country??? Why can’t any of the Obama worshippers open their eyes, I want to see how much power Obama by himself has. Do you actually think that he is going to even do a smiggen of what he has promised? Oh, another thing I am not hearing from the black crowd or actually anyone is that HE IS HALF WHITE!!!!! God forbid, right? Hope I am wrong but I really don’t think I am. If you lived around where I do and witnessed the long lines of black people waiting in line yet today to get a copy of the Detroit News with Obama plastered all over the front page, it is like he is a rock star! Next election will show how much power he has really had, if we are still here!

    THEIR WAR (AN EXCERPT)
Less than 1 percent of the U.S. population serves in our military. In a time of war, what should that mean to the rest of us?

    By Kristin Henderson

Most Americans seem to take their luck for granted. Even September 11, 2001, didn’t motivate a surge of young people to enlist the way Tuyishimire’s bitter experience in Rwanda motivated him. In the six years since, with America’s wars dragging on overseas, the military services have struggled to meet recruiting goals. The Army recently widened the door to admit recruits in their early 40s.

“Warriors,” bellows a sergeant on the firing range, “don’t forget to hydrate!”

In the outside world, civilians tend to use the word “warriors” only when they’re describing the fighting men of ancient or primitive cultures. But within the U.S. military establishment, “warriors” is a common form of address, even an e-mail salutation, as in this automatic message sent by a Marine public affairs officer: “Warriors, I will be out of the office until Monday.”

The difference in the way the two groups, military and civilian, use this word reflects the growing gulf that yawns between them. Many of the soldiers and Marines interviewed for this article mentioned that when civilians try to connect with them and affirm their military service, the civilians often echo the Army’s “Be all you can be” pitch: You’ll learn valuable skills . . . It’ll be a great résumé builder. It’s as if, looking in from the outside, these civilians just want to see tidy uniforms and high-tech gadgetry, as if soldiering is a modern-day job like any other.

Infantrymen, on the other hand, learn that the military’s basic job is to break the enemy’s will by killing him, or threatening to. Looking at their training from the inside, infantrymen conclude that their job hasn’t fundamentally changed since the days when naked men threw spears at one another to protect their families. It’s an ancient role, and they’re proud of it.

But these days, that part of the job apparently makes America’s civilians uneasy. World War II headlines celebrated accomplished military killers and called them heroes. Second Lt. Audie Murphy mowed down dozens of attacking German soldiers, won the Medal of Honor and went on to become a movie star. Today, U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan who win medals for successfully doing their jobs while obeying the laws of war might get local coverage. But the brightest national spotlight is reserved for killers who are war criminals, such as the alleged perpetrators of the Haditha massacre, or heroes who are victims, such as prisoners of war. American civilians no longer seem comfortable labeling a soldier as both a killer and a hero.

In fact, they’re not particularly comfortable with the military in general.

Less than half the civilian population believes military leaders can be relied on to respect civilian control of the military, according to surveys by the Triangle Institute for Security Studies, an academic think tank in North Carolina. Never mind that 92 percent of military leaders still insist their civilian masters should have the final say on whether to use military force. And while nearly two-thirds of military leaders believe they share the same values as the American people, only about one-third of their civilian counter-parts agree. The vast majority of civilians believe service members are intolerant, stingy, rigid and lacking in creativity. More than 20 percent report they’d be disappointed if their children joined the military. Before the invasion of Iraq, the editorial boards of major newspapers endorsed the use of force, yet a search turned up no calls for Americans to join up to support the effort. President Bush urged civilians to go shopping.

“The military is at war, but the country is not,” warns University of Maryland sociologist David Segal. “And the military resents that.”

    VIETNAM WAS THE TURNING POINT.
In the heat of an unpopular war, decades of social trends boiled over: the development of relativistic theologies, growing legal emphasis on the rights of the individual and the emergence of the teenage years as a time free from both parental restrictions and adult responsibilities. These trends empowered and united war opponents with a moral certainty that surpassed anything seen during previous conflicts, as described by Frank Schaeffer and Kathy Roth-Douquet in AWOL: The Unexcused Absence of America’s Upper Classes From Military Service — and How It Hurts Our Country.

In Vietnam, Gen. William Westmoreland lied about body counts, and American soldiers massacred women and children at My Lai. Vietnam taught its generation to distrust the military. The collective memory of Vietnam’s luckless, disadvantaged draftees, forced to fight a politically polarizing war, and the certainty of the protesters that they were right to oppose it, still shape civilian American attitudes toward the military. While pre-Vietnam generations saw military service as an apolitical civic duty, Schaeffer points out that today’s civilians tend to see it as a career choice for the underprivileged, a choice that also depends on whether they approve of the policies of the moment.

“The new excuse is, I’d never send my son to fight in Iraq,” says Schaeffer. An author with no military background who lives in an affluent area near Boston, Schaeffer also blames the lingering priorities of the Me Generation. “My class are dismissive of anything other than the glittering fast track of money.”

Statistically, recruits are less likely to come from affluent Zip codes such as those in many Washington area suburbs. Some claim this is because military recruiters target the poor. But recruiters are not welcome in most affluent neighborhoods.

When recruiters began approaching the teenage sons of Montgomery County peace activist Pat Elder, he turned his energies to counter-recruiting. He and a few other parents were upset that recruiters had free access to students during lunch period at Walt Whitman High School. They succeeded in restricting recruiters’ visits to the guidance office, where interested students now must make an appointment.

When Frank Schaeffer’s son John enlisted, Schaeffer himself wasn’t sure it was such a great idea. The other parents at John’s exclusive prep school reacted with horror. Schaeffer recalls: “One of them, a professor at Brown, went to the headmaster and demanded a special meeting of the board and faculty to look into what went wrong with John Schaeffer. They were worried: Is this contagious?” At graduation, another parent commented about John, “What a waste.”

There’s clearly some self-selection going on, too, because nearly half of all Army recruits are following in the footsteps of a parent who has served. We seem to be creating an American warrior class.

To some degree, the gap between the military and the people has been masked by one of the other lessons of Vietnam: Don’t blame the soldiers for the military misadventures of our civilian leaders. Today’s peace marchers generally take care to chant that they support the troops, not the war. But Segal worries that the military’s low visibility in American society is leading to estrangement. “People say they support the troops, but I don’t know how long one can sustain that if one doesn’t know what a soldier is.”

In a nation of more than 300 million people, less than 1 percent serve in all the armed forces combined, active duty and reserve. Compare that to previous wartimes: 4 percent served during Vietnam, 12 percent during World War II, 11 percent during the Civil War. Today, in many neighborhoods, civilians can go about their lives without ever crossing paths with someone on active duty. Even in military towns, connections are hard to sustain — active-duty service members move every three years, on average. “They’re coaching youth soccer, serving as deacons, volunteering in the schools,” Segal says. “But if they’re deployed, you lose your deacon.” Meanwhile, rootless military children are always the new kid, rarely graduating from the same high school where they started as freshmen.

More and more in America, civilians have no contact with the people who do the fighting, yet civilians are the ones who decide when and where those people fight. What happens to a democracy when its civilians live in one world and its warriors in another?

FOR NOW, AMERICA TUCKS THE TINY TRIBE OF PEOPLE WHO STILL DO ITS DIRTY WORK OUT OF SIGHT OF MOST CIVILIANS, on and around scattered military installations. There, service members and their families live and work — and mourn — behind guarded gates and barbed wire.
On Camp Geiger, the Southern sun glares down on a cinder-block building painted a blinding white. This is the School of Infantry’s headquarters. From here, Col. David Close watches over the training of Marines such as Tuyishimire.

“When I think of patriotism,” the colonel says, “I think of selfless service. I think of the people that are dying.” Suddenly, his eyes redden. His mouth quivers. “I have a hard time with the families left behind.” The words stop coming.

He’s a tall, rangy man, hair bristling gray. He looks like a man who should be carrying a sword, not fighting tears. When he speaks again, his voice shakes. “The word patriotism rings hollow with that. There are no words for it. It can’t be explained.”

His voice steadies as he describes a scene that movies have made familiar: a recent death notification on the base, the official car driving through a neighborhood of enlisted family housing on a Saturday morning, the young women who were outside setting up a yard sale all going still, waiting to see where the car would stop.

“That’s patriotism,” Close says. He acknowledges that outsiders, those who haven’t lived this iconic moment, can hear about casualties and feel sad and make the connection between the policy decision and the end state. “But the families give up the one they love for their country. It’s the families, the way of life. If you don’t serve, you

Emanuel appointed as Obama’s chief of staff

New White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel

New job: Rahm Emanuel with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (Reuters)

Democratic Congressman Rahm Emanuel has accepted US President-elect Barack Obama’s offer to become the new White House chief of staff.

The Illinois Congressman who is known for his aggressive style will control access to the new president and will help develop administration policies.

US media outlets are reporting David Axelrod, the man who ran Mr Obama’s presidential campaign, will become a White House adviser.

In his role as chairman of the political committee in charge of helping Democrats gain seats in Congress, Mr Emanuel was seen as a key player in the Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives in 2006.

Since then, he has served as the fourth highest-ranking Democrat as chairman of the party’s caucus. He serves on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, which sets tax policy.

Mr Emanuel was a key adviser to former US President Bill Clinton and most recently was a negotiator on the $US700 billion Wall Street bailout legislation.

Mr Obama has announced he will call his first press conference in Chicago on Friday (US time) after a meeting with economic advisers.

The President-elect is moving quickly to choose his White House team as he prepares to move into the Oval Office.

He is also on the verge of naming his treasury secretary and is receiving his first intelligence briefings.

George W Bush’s spokeswoman Dana Perino confirmed that Mr Obama was getting intelligence briefings and said that the White House was connecting the soon-to-be 44th US president with world leaders and diplomats eager to meet him.

“People are very excited about our next president and they’re interested in getting to meet him and putting their ideas or their agendas in front of him to make sure that they continue to have a good, seamless relationship with the United States of America, and we’re going to help facilitate that,” she said.

Mr Obama now has daily access to the same highly classified information given to outgoing President Mr Bush.

    Bush, Obama talks

Meanwhile Mr Bush will meet Mr Obama early next week to discuss the economic crisis and the Iraq war.

Although Mr Obama will not be sworn in as president until January, the transition from a Bush administration to an Obama administration has already begun.

“We face economic challenges that will not pause to let a new president settle in,” Mr Bush said.

“In the coming weeks, we will ask administration officials to brief the Obama team on ongoing policy issues, ranging from the financial markets to the war in Iraq.”

Mr Bush is promising to make the transition to a new administration as smooth as possible.

But he is warning that terrorists may target the US during the handover.

“We’re in a struggle against violent extremists determined to attack us, and they would like nothing more than to exploit this period of change to harm the American people.”

oh yeah about the racist thing.
my husband works with only blacks.his best friend is black so he is not against them but is being treatet like he is less of a man because he is white.he is so discreminatet against but cant open his mouth about it cause then he is going to be called racist.
truth is …if we try to be ONE nation, dont matter whta color it is the blacks who fight against it.they dont want to be includet.they have they’re “family”they’re gangs..theyre back channels, black month…
    all this causes hate ..
a black person has to be hired because of fear of a lawsuit, doesnt matter if they are qualified.
    what else.
oh yeah..they dont have opertunities…hm lets think..
If i white person doesnt finish school ,guess what THEY have no opertunities either.
so ,dont make your job populating this country..go to school…graduate collage..and i bet then ,you have opertunities too!!!!!!!

Well, as Oliver Hardy said to Stan Laurel; ” This is another fine mess you’ve gotten us into”. Or, was it Moe to Curly? well you get the picture. This whole “Election” was a “comedy of errors”. Obama started his campaign on a t-shirt of some well-endowed white chick shaking her “money-maker” around. He started his “celebrity status” pimping out a white chick in those asinine videos. And the people of this country swallowed it “Hook, Line, and Sinker”! Then the Obama Campaign’s sexist treatment of Hillary Clinton, and then Sarah Palin, was a “Mysogony Fest” unprecedented in “Presidential Political History”. It was shameful and disgusting that this kind of behavior went on, in this day and age, and they got away with it! If I was a woman in this country right now, I would’nt be too confident in anything the “New Obama Administration” says in the way of advancing “Women’s Rights”. Throw in “Voter Fraud”, “Illegal Campaign Contributions” (foreign and domestic), The “Birth Certificate Debauchery”(the list goes on and on) and the whole thing “Stinks” in plain English! I smell a Mackerel! It’s embarrrassing!

Now, let us take a trip back in time. If I remember correctly, a little over two years ago, the Economy wasn’t that bad. Gasoline was about $1.89 a gallon. There was no “phony housing crisis”. The Bush tax cuts were to become popular across the nation, and I had about $160,000 dollars more equity in my home than I do now!(and a lot more retirement money to look foward to)! Isn’t it funny that’s right about the time of the “Midterm Elections” when the Demoncrats took control of Congress. We have gone downhill ever since! (like a friggen Olympic skier). Because of the “Do Nothing Congress” (with a lower approval rating than George Bush) the dollar has taken a beating in the Global Markets. For two years all they did in Congress was blow smoke up each others butts and accomplish nothing. Putin and Chavez are trying to start a “Natural Gas Cartel” similar to OPEC.(And if you think the whole world isn’t getting on line to kick us in the nuts when we are down, you are very mistaken) Consumer Spending confidence has pretty much” Bitten the Bullet”. The Retail Industry is looking at a “Bleak” Holiday Season at best (All industry, for that matter) And the major Auto Makers (even Toyota) are crying like babies! In a nutshell, the whole country has gone to “Hell in a Handbasket” and we are not “Enjoying the Ride”. Isn’t it odd though, that in our 401K’s, people have taken about a 49% hit! The same amount that your “Employer” would normally match! They just stole half your retirement portfolio, because the only “REAL” money that was ever in there was the money YOU contributed! Think about it for a minute.

This new President elect will have to pull some pretty big “Bunnies” out of his hat, and I don’t mean Playboy Bunnies. Obama made several “Campaign Promises” that we as a “Nation of Free People”(at least for the time being) should hold him to! One of them was to “Create” new jobs. Another, that was hinted to the Latino Population, was “Amnesty”,( that’s how he got their votes! ). If you look at both of these, you will see the dichotomy. He can’t do both! If you give all the Illegal Aliens amnesty, you will be taking away millions of “American Jobs” and swelling the “Social Services Rolls” and the burden on the “American Taxpayer” exponentially! This is just one example. There are many more.

So In conclusion, we are going to have to “Roll with the Punches” and try to make the “Best of It”. I fear The “Vision of Change” that the coming administration has in mind for us, might not be the “same one” we had in mind! In the Economy, Education, the Military, Taxes, Immigration and our borders, Gun Control, and on and on. Where is the “Change” in that? That sounds like “Business as Usual” to me. I think it was Roger Daltry that sang; “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss” in a Who song entitled “Won’t Get Fooled Again”.
Let us hope and pray this is not the case! God Bless America!

Over 4,100 troop deaths later they are still bringing them on. I can understand why the Mission Accomplished which was flying above the President on the ship where he made his comments has been taken out of use for the time being. I guess he gave up looking for WMD. Everyone has an ego but I think W was trying to get his as large as the one Dick Cheney has or, even worse Karl Rove. What a shameful waste of eight years. I had some not so good CINC’s during my 36 years in uniform but this guy has truly been in W A Y over his head. I tried to get behind him after the election but one of his cabinet members would screw up and W would praise him and make all types of grand statements about his character and what a grand person the cabinet member was. It got old real quick when, against senate committee testimony, service members were being killed in large numbers due to lack of proper equipment, lack of recommended force size, etc. I get tired of seeing Americans in uniform losing their lives to satisfy the ego of some high ranking official(s). It is really old. Good luck to President Elect Obama.

People, no where did he say he was going to bring down America. He is promising we will think more clearly before we take action with a special group to oversea national affairs and keep us from making mistakes like were done during the Bush Administration and we fell for it. Darn right bring our troops home, they were sent over oil, even Bush laughed and said what weapons of mass destruction. We are not bringing them home in shame as they have done as ordered and served, we are bringing them home because it is the right thing to do. So you may say it wasn’t over oil.. but look up who has no bid contracts in Iraq for oil. One major company Exxon Oil, who just again posted historic profits. So while we were trying to figure out where to get the money to fill up our tanks and get to work, Exxon was making a profit from Iraq.

I ask that we give Obama a chance and stop trying to read what is not there and listen to his words! This hate has to stop, he is just as much white as he is black, so you racist get off your throne about his color. He is a christian with a foreign name, can any of us help what our last name is? He is a US citizen born to an American mother in the United States. Hawaii is a US State. The same as if you were Irish, british, French, what ever you may be, if your parent is American born and citizen you have every right to be just like the rest of us. We all came from some other country at some point. My ancestor family came here in 1607 into Jamestown, VA. I am english by heritage, but a US citizen by birth. So as from one of the many first families to settle in what we now know as the USA, I see Obama having the same right as any other American.

I hear so many talk about how this is such a historic thing for America … electing our first black president. I think it is great that we can now do that, but Obama is not the man we should have elected. I say that not because I am racist ( I would have loved to vote for Alan Keyes or J.C. Watts), but because I am a Bible believing Christian. (By the way, let us not forget that Obama would not be who he is without his white mother.) I have heard that Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream has been realized. However, I have heard countless people say that Obama did not represent their moral values, but they were going to vote for him because he is black. Dr. King dreamed of judging a man by his character and not his skin color. There were many, many people who voted for Obama who did not do that … they voted for him because he was black. Of course, that is not true of everyone, thankfully. I think that the Christian author, Dutch Sheets, said it best (go to http://www.dutchsheets.org for his complete response). “America was offered a very clear choice between moving further toward protecting the unborn or futher away; between a Supreme Court that would move toward honoring God, life and morality or away from it. There comes a time when God will not forgive or bless the majority based on the prayers or actions of only a few. America rejected God and asked for a king; I believe now we have our Saul (see 1 Samuel 8:5-7)-a man who does not have God’s heart for America but his own. Like Israel in scripture, our nation believes it can turn from God and still be blessed. In His mercy and justice, God will show us otherwise.”

The lawsuit count is up to 18 now, in regards to Obama’s “birth certificate” & proof of citizenship. As for Obama saying he is a Christian,
anyone can say anything, but that doesn’t make it the truth. Obama was encouraged & persuaded by MO, to join a “Christian” church 20 years ago, so that he would have a better chance of becoming an elected official in the U.S.A. He was a practicing Muslim then & probably still is. Why else do you think he sat on that church pew unconcerned with the hate filled words spewed from Wright’s pie hole? He held a Pakistani passport until his 20’s, which brings in the question of dual citizenship, this of course, allowing that he was truly born in Hawaii. Obama wouldn’t know what truth is, if it jumped up & slapped him in the face.

Fearful, gun toting, religious whack jobs. Why do you think deaths by handguns is the highest in the US compared to the other Westernized countries? I believe that its ok for people to own firearms, but in order to do so, I believe one must pass a gun safety course, be tested on gun skills by a qualified professional, and be required to have a lockable cabinet in which to store the weapons. Any firearm other than small rifles and shotguns should be registered with the police station. Thats my stance on it.
It’s hilarious. People are more scared about losing a gun than the freedom they lost when Bush could tap your phones and access your personal information without a warrant, at any time.

Man, I have read some really wild post here. Some of you say that the way to save America is by prayer and the church. Then some of you think they are the crazy ones and should shut up and allow Obama do whatever it is he is going to do; because why? Because he is
african-american and it is about time that race had someone to represent them.
I am somewhere in the 50’s nearing 60’s and I have voted ever since I was 21 years old and it didn’t matter one bit if a Republican or a Democrat won the president’s office, government did just what they wanted to do and nothing the common citizen said or ask, things happened just the way congress wanted it to.
Obama is the President of the United States of America; I bet a dollar there will not be a great big change in the way government works no matter if an african-american democrat is in office or not. It is what it is.
The only way to change it, is to run everyone of those who have been in congress over eight years an elect new blood, new ideas. After eight years, if they haven’t made a big change in our government, vot him out and try another one. Don’t pay them millions of dollars for their service or for their retirement, pay them a little above average wages in this country so they don’t get comfortable on the million dollar wages.
Since they are normal citizens like all of us, why pay them millions of dollars to serve, millions of dollars for retirement and then millions of dollars for their library and then millions for their childhood home for a museum and then pay millions for them to speak at a graduation ceremony.
You see whay I am trying to say? They are just common citizens, but after four or eight years, they end up being treated like the king or queen of America. It doesn’t matter if they are republicans or democrats, house of commons or house of lords, who cares.

It will all be the same, no matter who our President is, don’t you really know that already? Good Bless Us and God Bless the United States of America.

    To Joe Six Packski #210:

The figures you are referring to are the highest because they count all the “SCUMBAG” drug dealers and illegal aliens that are killing each other in the “inner cities”. They also count suicides, because it just happens a pistol is the most efficent way to to ghost oneself, if in your twisted mind you should decide to. I guess if somebody runs your kid over (God forbid) in a “Chevy” you are going to sue General Motors! When are you “Liberal Freekazoids” going to smarten up? Guns don’t kill people, people kill people! You can leave a loaded pistol on your kitchen table for a hundred years, and it can’t hurt anybody until you pick it up and point it at somebody! Look what happened in England and Austrailia. They took everybodys’ guns away and crime went up 60%. The criminals are kicking down doors in “Broad Daylight” and robbing people(they would normally wait until after dark or when no one was at home), because the thugs know the Citizens have no way to defend themselves! Their “Elderly” are the most targeted. That’s why Sam Colt called the revolver The “Great Equalizer”! If you outlaw guns the thugs will use Knives, baseball bats, or whatever hasn’t been outlawed yet. It is criminal nature!

When Hitler wanted to kill all the Jews, the first thing he did was take all their guns away. We all know too well what followed. Our gun control act, that was passed after Kennedy was shot, was written almost verbatim to Hitler’s gun control act in 1938 Germany! I guess when some “Cracked Out” drug dealer breaks into your house, and wants to rape your wife and daughters and take everything you own (including your life!) you are going to ask him to give you a couple of minutes to retrieve your pistol from one locked box and go to another room and retrieve your ammo from another locked box! Do you see the “Insanity” in this? The Police (which are not legally bound to protect life, only property), will show up long after you and your family are DEAD!, to take pictures and clean up “The Mess”! There are more than 30 thousand gun laws on the books already. Criminals don’t obey the law, that’s why they are criminals!(DUH!) Gun laws only affect the “Law Abiding” citizen. They want you to try to defend your loved ones with one hand tied around your balls! So all you limosine liberals wake up and smell the Starbucks! The “Obama Administration” wants to teach “Kindergartners” how to put ” a condom on a cucumber”! How about a “Gun Saftey” course like the NRA’s “Eddie Eagle” program? It teaches young children “Don’t Touch”, Go and get an Adult!, if they ever come across a weapon! That would save more young lives than knowing how to place a “rubber” on a vegetable! You see how “Out of Touch” you Liberals are! There are laws on the books that state a handgun used in a crime constitutes a “Mandatory 5 year Sentence”. Your Liberal Judges are not enforcing them! They practice “Revolving Door Justice” and these thugs are back out on the streets killing more people in no time! That’s the “Root of the Problem”. We don’t need more gun laws, just enforce the ones we already have!

Thomas Jefferson once said; An “Armed Society” is a “Polite Society”! People who have Concealed Carry Permits avoid confrontation like the plague. They are taught to use “Deadly Force” only when it is used against them! So they are not “Dirty Harrys” like the media makes them out to be. They are responsible citizens that might pull your “Fat” out of the “Fryer” someday. Most of them shoot way better than the Police! Hand guns stop crime more than 2 million times a year just by the “sight of a weapon”. You won’t hear that on the “Newz”! So, if I where you, I would get down to my local gun store and pick up something I could use for “home defense”( Shotguns are the best! When a criminal sees that “Huge” hole on “the Business End” of that barrel, It strikes great fear into them, and you have an advantage from the “Giddyapp”!) Every little thing helps in a “Life and Death” situation! Get some training on it, take it to the range periodically, and stay proficient with it (meaning you can hit your target within 15 yards every time with it). And you might even have some fun doing it, as it will surely raise your confidence level in your ability to protect your loved ones! Do this NOW!, before they won’t let you buy one anymore! Isn’t your family, and your “peace of mind” worth it?

Based on “Early Personnel Choices” it looks like a President Obama (God help us) will keep the Bush Foreign Policy, turn to “Washington Insiders” (His “Transition Team” this week named at least 7 openly gay people to “Transition Panels” assigned to review Federal Departments and Agencies) despite their checkered pasts, and push ahead with a “Radical Social Agenda” that was largely “Under the Radar” during the campaign. Don’t be fooled for a minute that they won’t come after your guns! He is surrounding himself with “Clinton Administration “RETREADS”! He will fill the Military with spineless homosexuals, (just like the Clintons did) with no stomach for a fight, and “neuter” the whole Military! I ask you, where is the”CHANGE” in that?

I don’t mind them retiring but they should have to wait until 65 like I had to do.

How about our Income Tax laws? Many smart Americans are advocating the Fair Tax—Congress doesn’t want to consider it because that way the people win and the politicians lose. It’s called the “pay as you go plan “.

I had to laugh when I heard that Congress was going to require that The Auto Industry would have to live up to certain standards in order to qulify for a bailout(And well they should) Yet, Congress is not answerable to anyone but themselves.

Every week I have to balance my checkbook, and I think I have the right to require Congress to do the same. There is a constant war between the Democrats & Republicans and nothing gets done. Between the two of them they’ve spent us to over 9 Trillion Dollars into debt.

It amazes me how many people with a higher education found Obamas vision for governance a solution for Americas problems. The drama is beginning to unfold as our new president ascends to the seat of power. I am anxiously awaiting to see how many suckers will still be in denial one year from his inaugeration. - Look for far-left justices appointed to the Supreme Court, effectively tying up the entire government in a trifecta of liberal humanism, the buzzwords of which remain empty platitudes like “hope and change,” and the ultimate goal of which is socialism–and soon, sharia law.

    - Military cases of troops being tried and convicted for killing the enemy in combat will continue to rise–and the conviction/plea-bargain rate will stay at nearly 100%, as the government seeks to use the best men and women this country has to offer as sacrificial lambs on the altar of global appeasement. Those brave and honorable men who currently reside in prison cells across the country, stripped of their rank, their careers, families, and their good name, will not taste free air again for many years. Their sacrifices and their stories will be forgotten by the general public, remembered only by those of us who continue to fight for them.

    - Look for the slow but steady erosion of rights you have enjoyed for your entire lives–all the while being told it’s “for your own good.” Restrictions on gun ownership, home schooling, encouraged dependen ce on the ever-growing federal government. More nanny-state provisions will be put into place to protect the “disadvantaged” and the “poor,” (read: lazy, uneducated, unwilling to better themselves) even while groups like the unborn, the mentally handicapped, elderly, and terminally ill are slowly pushed toward euthanasia. Of course, this will be done with feel-good phrases like “death with dignity,” “not wanting to be a burden,” and “merciful release from suffering,” all of which ignore the basic fact that we are killing people without their consent for the “good of the people.” Before you tell me I’m crazy, let’s just remember that Barack Obama was the ONLY senator in the Illinois state senate to vote against providing medical care for babies who were inconsiderate enough to survive an abortion. Also, look for taxes to go up. Yes, they’ll go up.

    - You think the economy is bad now? Just wait. You’ll have the most expensive “free” health care ever. Bread lines aren’t just for Russians anymore. We have traded experience for color, freedom for slavery–and the irony is that the average American sheeple thinks their vote somehow righted an ancient wrong, somehow ENDED the spectre of slavery and ushered in some beautiful era of liberty. In reality, we are about to be less free than you ever thought possible.

I watched the faces of those crowded into the mob (excuse the pun) in Chicago. They stared at Obama like he was a god, an idol, a panacea to their every want and need. We have truly failed as a nation if we are at the point where we feel we must look to one man to take care of us all, to be our father figure and our sugar daddy. We have lost not only the “can-do” attitude of past generations, but the “MUST-do” attitude of our forefathers. We have allowed ourselves to become reduced from Patrick Henry’s proud cry of “liberty or death” to the sniveling, whining idea that we are owed something. We have gone from being the honorable defenders of freedom to being told we are the problem.

The eyes of Obama and McCain were also telling. McCain acted with class and grace in his concession speech, offering the most honorable response I’ve seen yet. I don’t agree with all of McCain’s positions, but it cannot be denied that the man has served his nation–at permanent and severe detriment to himself–for half a century. His eyes were clear and sincere, honest. His speech underlined the very reasons why, of the two men offered, he was hands down the better choice.

On the other hand, Obama’s eyes were cold, calculating. His manner was smug and still carried the arrogance he has always had. His facial expression was one of barely disguised disdain for everything people like me believe in. His body language was smooth, polished–too much so. He talked of patriotism as though it is a value he is familiar with–and yet, his horrifying attitude toward the country he now leads is as well-documented as his friendships with those who seek its demise. He is charismatic to those who don’t know what to look for, and he is inspiring to those who cannot or will not think for themselves. However, too many who voted for him are guilty of the most dangerous kind of hypocrisy. You see, we are told daily that we must not see color, just mankind. (We are all family, you know–or so we’re told.) And yet Barack Obama was handed the White House on a silver platter by a fawning media, a bevy of foreign donors (who, to this day and in violation of U.S. election laws, remain nameless and unaccounted for), and a populace who voted based on color instead of right and wrong–even in the face of the most damning evidence against a Presidential candidate in many years, perhaps ever.

It is said that the people receive the government they deserve. Sadly, I fear that’s correct. We have become complacent, unwilling to see the writing on the wall, content to frolic in the warm water without bearing to notice that it’s been getting hotter by the minute. We are two seconds from a rolling boil–and perhaps it is already too late.

So, liberals, enjoy your victory. Jump around. Have a party, file for your free grants. Scream “Gimme my handout!” and make fun of those of us who fought to make sure your “messiah” didn’t get access to the most powerful position in the world. Just remember when it all comes crashing down: You own the White House, the Congress, and soon the Supreme Court. You have no one to blame but yourselves for the mess you just created.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of “liberalism,” they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happene….
