The speech is here.
I started to live blog but it’s really a recap. Summary? Four Stars.
Conclusion:
We’re staying in Iraq. There will be slight troop withdrawls but unless it’s total Pelosi and Reid will squawk. Let ‘em, again, not much they can do except to pull funding. Ain’t going to happen.
Basically as I think about it, this was Bush drawing a line in the sand to Democrats. Either work with me or get the hell out of the way.
God I love this guy.
UPDATE: The editors at NRO:
“Bush‚Äôs speech last night envisioned Iraq in a long-term relationship with the United States, a ‚Äúpolitical, economic, and security engagement that extends beyond my presidency.‚Äù If that vision is realized, we will have taken Saddam Hussein‚Äôs Iraq and replaced it with a stable ally ‚Äî an undeniable benefit to the United States. The path there is still fraught with peril, but Bush finally has in place a strategy with a good chance of success and the right commander to carry it out. That speaks more loudly than any speech.”
Amen

1G_d bless George W. Bush. We owe him so much.
The democrats are truly defeated and they know it.
And one of the points that seems always to get lost in the debate on Iraq is this: Where did the dumb democrats think the terrorists would go after we ran them out of Afghanistan?
Surely not IRAQ! sarcasm off.

3Yep…even their great brain, Richard Clarke, figured that out.
God I love this guy.
Yep…he has turned out to be my favorite President. Reagan previously held that position, in spite of watching him throw open the doors to illegals. Two great men doing the best they could with the world they found and with what was available. I watched both make mistakes but for every mistake they made, compared with the Carter/Clinton Appeasement Eras, they both emerge as giants. Reagan faced a tough crowd but Bush has faced pure insanity. Our population has become so ‘civilized’ that they have lost basic survival skills. Thank God for this President.

5It was so obvious that the terrorists were going to go to Iraq, I mean the countries are only 1000 miles apart and separated by Iran, where else were they going to go?
Problem is now that Iraq is being sorted out some of them are heading back to Afghanistan. We need to make sure that the door is closed permanently. And make sure Iran stops supporting these guys and letting them through.
The democrats should just accept that we’re in for a long haul.
