And on it goes. Three days from the only report that matters the MSM continues the “Yeah But” assault. This time the Wapo shocks us that prior to the surge within the Bush administration there was “dissent and infighting”. Not unlike Hillary when she used to rant in the halls of the White House …..I digress.

“For two hours, President Bush listened to contrasting visions of the U.S. future in Iraq. Gen. David H. Petraeus dominated the conversation by video link from Baghdad, making the case to keep as many troops as long as possible to cement any security progress. Adm. William J. Fallon, his superior, argued instead for accepting more risks in Iraq, officials said, in order to have enough forces available to confront other potential threats in the region.

The polite discussion in the White House Situation Room a week ago masked a sharper clash over the U.S. venture in Iraq, one that has been building since Fallon, chief of the U.S. Central Command, which oversees Middle East operations, sent a rear admiral to Baghdad this summer to gather information. Soon afterward, officials said, Fallon began developing plans to redefine the U.S. mission and radically draw down troops.”

You know anytime it takes six writers to author an article you know they’re REALLY trying to throw something of wrench into the fun. The utterly humor-filled flailing of the MSM and most of the nutroots - none of which have ever be in a war, but less the planning phase, they remind me of those who follow the sirens to fires that aren’t there.

No doubt there was much discussion about what to do about Iraq. While for the democrats Iraq and the sacrifices made there are but a political plaything, the fact that within the GOP there was actually serious consideration and planning on how to bring Iraq to a close. That there was fighting and arguing and middle finger wagging. Hell, been there in a few of those meetings but things did get done.

The facts: Progress has been made where it had not be made before. End of the story. The political factor of which the bar was ridiculously lifted by Democrats as evidenced by the GAO report IS actually better than it was before, but you won’t get the MSM to acknowledge it. Tell me where you have read of the Sunnis returning to the Iraqi assembly except in a few obscure news burps.

Of course the WAPO - just like the left - are by this time so frightened that their design efforts to end the war is going to fail that they’re not even mixing punches at this point coming out and calling General Patraeus a liar (but don’t question our patriotism and our support for the troops!). In the case of the Wapo putting out 3/4 weighted Democrat polls to show “skepticism”.

No doubt this is the week you’ll see the full all out assault on the character of General Patraeus/Amb. Crocker and even our military as the MSM/Left throws out the stops to what will be a call to remain in Iraq and finish the job. Again, as I said before they can rant and rave all they want but we will remain in Iraq as long a President Bush determines it’s necessary. They can write all the crap they want, commission all the weighted polls they want, but unless the democratically controlled congress pulls the funding, we will remain.
