Errrr, could be.
I find myself ready to hurl at the thought of agreeing with Specter and Leahy, but the fact of the matter is this exactly what he should do. He should tell the GOP to pound salt and change his plea. This is unlikely, but after the travesty of what our party leaders did to this man who gave three decades of his life to public service, I would say that it’s worth a fight.

1Larry Craig should not have resigned. He should cancel it. He did nothing wrong except not responding forcefully against sham prosecution.

2Spector says he didn’t resign. Not until Sept. 30th. Of course, leaky was being his usual typical creepy self. If Craig will fight like Spector believes he should [and will advise him too]…Craig may remain in the senate. Interesting…
I hope he doesn’t allow them to railroad him.

3Please wake up people.
The guy has issues and fighting it makes no sense.
Sure the slimness of what triggered this is all wrong, but he has been a target for years by the gay outer blogs.
It was only a matter of time till the situation presented itself to trigger this outcome.
What do you want , glossy 8×10’s with circles and arrows and descriptions on the back?
Do I know he is gay? Hell no, but it seems to be enough to be radioactive to some.
Bottom down the issue is he pleaded to a crime. If it was this or any other crime you could pick out of all those available we on our side say it is a liability and we will sweep off our front porch.
Other parties can have people go into rehab after crashing cars into concrete barriers and have a charge dealt with and say so what.
It is all about the adults versus the brats.
But the rub is where brats are turned into GI Joe dolls of the day by the other side.
There is no more shared reality, or is there.
What gets attention is the most polarized visions of the left and right and the whole middle seemingly doesn’t exist.
But tell them that.

4Comment guy, do you have issues? Ever written a bad check or missed a payment on your car? Those are issues. How about your taxes? Even been a little slow in paying them?
I could say that you are a financially busted, hot check writting, tax dodger if you answer yes to any of those questions. Does it make it true? No.
Are we now going to end 30 year careers because of a crime that was not committed? Maybe the police can start giving speeding tickets the minute you start your car engine on the “assumption” you might have been going to violate speed laws.
The guy pled out to “invasion of privacy”. So tell me, when you are in a public restroom with an open urinal system, if you look at the guy next to you while you walk away, have you just “invaded” his privacy?
Everyone is beating up on Craig over his “hypocracy”. STOP IT. He was elected to vote the will of the people of his district, not his own and if he did that, then he was doing his job. I don’t vote for someone whose personal beliefs are lockstep with mine (not caring what their personal beliefs are), I vote for someone who will represent MY personal beliefs.
I would not trust Spector or Leahy with my used Spearmint wrappers, but they have a point.
Study a little history and learn from the French Revolution. Once the blood letting started, guilty or innocense didn’t matter, it was “off with their heads”. The Democrat sharks are swarming and they smell blood; DeLay, Rumsfeld, Libby, Rove and Gonzales, all attacked by the left wing and all now gone. Pretty soon we will have to get written permission slips from the DNC just to run a candidate. And while Republicans continue to fall like so many dominos, William Jefferson stays. Alcee Hastings stays.
We have been screaming for years (40 to be exact) for Republicans to grow a spine and if Craig is willing to buck the Democrat head hunters, I am all for it. Why should he resign when Barney Frank stays? One rule for all. Not separate rules for Democrats.
Meanwhile, Bubba says he is “Shocked. Shocked I tell you” over his wife’s involvement with Norman Hsu. And the MSM, who is reporting on Craig ad naseum, seems to have missed what could be the biggest campaign fraud story of the century making Jack Abramoff look like a Boy Scout.
Here is another thing for you to think about: Larry Flint hired someone to go over the phone records of a professional hooker. And bam! they came up with the name of ONE Republican, David Vitter. Flint vowed to go after ALL the Republicans whose name was on that list. Where is Flint now? Did he find Democrats on that list so now he has lost interest in publishing their names?
The damn playing field needs to be leveled and if the Democrats are going to keep Barney Frank (was he named after the gay purple dinoseaur?) we get to keep Craig and let the voters in his state decide his fate, not the MSM.

5[...] Absolutely! Everyone with two brain cells left to rub together knows a guilty plea is many times an act of convenience - not a statement of guilt (and definitely NOT proof of guilt). Right now the price he is paying for a misdemeanor is way to high. So instead of accepting this injustice do what he should have done in the first place - fight the charges. Don’t let people define your reputation Senator - defend your honor. We support you, come what may. Hat tip Mac Ranger. [...]

6Oh and we have this bit of supposed wisdom and insight over in HuffPo land
The whole story of Senator Larry Craig, the Republican of Idaho who announced his resignation yesterday, is a nightmare of out-of-control police and weak politicians.
Senator Craig has been the innocent victim of a set-up by the evil-minded police of Minneapolis-St. Paul that Stalin would have admired.
I won’t give the link to give them the traffic, but God those people are dumb.

7The odious Mr. Rogers:
“The Most Feared Man on the Hill?
For Gay Blogger, Craig’s Resignation Is Just the Latest on His List
By Jose Antonio Vargas
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, September 4, 2007; Page C01
Soon, a new name will pop up on Mike Rogers’s hit list.
Larry Craig wasn’t “the first on my list,” the gay blogger says. And the Idaho senator, who announced his resignation Saturday, “won’t be the last.”
Mike Rogers of Blogactive was one of the first people to break the news of Idaho Senator Larry Craig (R) being gay and has been steadily and accurately calling out gay Republicans. (By Marvin Joseph — The Washington Post)
Rogers, sitting on a club chair in his Northwest Washington apartment, is basking in the attention. For three years now, he’s been a feared one-man machine, “outing,” he says, nearly three dozen senior political and congressional staffers, White House aides and, most damagingly, Congress members on his blog. On Capitol Hill, a typical phone call from Rogers — “Are you gay?” he’d ask — is “a call from Satan himself,” says a former high-ranking congressional staffer whose name is on the list.
Rogers reasons that there’s justice behind his tactics — “odious,” “outrageous” and “over-the-line” as they might seem to his detractors.
In Rogers’s mind, if you’re against gay rights in your public life and you live a secret homosexual life, all bets are off.(more)”

People who called themselves “liberals” would once have found this anethema–now they cheer. Go figure.
