Yawwwwn…..
“Fred Thompson’s campaign-in-waiting will hold a 4 p.m. conference call today with supporters to brief them on plans for the former Tennessee senator’s presidential announcement next week, according to an e-mail obtained by Politico.com.
Randy Enwright, Thompson’s political director, said in the message that they will “discuss the next steps as we move forward as an organization.” A Thompson aide confirms that they’ll share the news about the long-awaited formal launch. “By the end of the day, we’ll have more clarity,” the aide said, declining to reveal which day the announcement would take place.
UPDATE: Still no official confirmation from the campaign, but Thompson sources now confirm that he will announce his candidacy next Thursday, Sept. 6. The launch will include a tour of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. As expected, Thompson will not appear at the GOP debate in New Hampshire on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
A Thompson campaign official says that they’ll issue a paper statement as to their plans later this afternoon.”
Who cares. Seems Fred has a problem making timely decisions as such who needs him. As Snagglepuss said, “Exit Stage Right“.

1Don’t sell Fred short. I attended several local functions held for Fred when he was running for Senate. Fred is awsome. He is big enough to command attention, yet he is low key and soft spoken. He eminates a feeling that he is everyone’s personal friend, is honorable and reliable, and can be counted on doing what is right, not what is expedient. Never would any of us who support him believe he is capable of selling us out for his own personal benefit. You don’t find many politicians who come across as being a down home, true blue honest American who understands our problems and can be trusted to do his best to solve them. This is the quality that reminds us of Ronald Reagan and although we all know he is not Reagan, we believe he is cut from the same mold. He may not win all our battles, but we believe we can trust him to do his best. That’s more than we get from most politicians.
