While the NY Times squawks about Rove being the lastest of the inner circle, the fact remains that the resignations during Bush’s nearly two terms pale in comparison to his predecessor, William Clinton. Let’s recount.
Via Expose the Left:
Secretary of State: Warren Christopher
Secretary of the Treasury: Lloyd Bentsen, Robert Rubin
Secretary of Defense: Les Aspin, William Perry
Secretary of Agriculture: Mike Espy
Secretary of Commerce: Ronald H. Brown, Mickey Kantor, William M. Daley
Secretary of Labor: Robert Reich
Secretary of Housing and urban Development: Henry G. Cisneros
Secretary of Transportation: Federico F. Pena
Secretary of Energy: Hazel R. O’Leary, Frederico F. Pena
Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs: Jesse Brown.
Additionally just for more perspective, Chief of Staffs under Clinton to resign:
Mack McLarty 1993–1994
Leon Panetta 1994–1997
Erskine Bowles 1997–1998
John Podesta 1998–2001
Interesting to note as well, that of the above, under direct questioning during Clinton scandals the following did answer - “I don’t know, I can’t recall”, etc.
Mack McLarty - 233 times
John Podesta - 264 times
