Possibly. According to Newsbusters, an ex DOJ lawyer may be a prime suspect.
“Anybody who reads Web forums dedicated to current events is familiar with the phenomenom of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) in which leftwingers rant wildly about the supposed crimes of the EVIL Bush regime. Most of the time those postings can be written off as just another case of the left having mental problems handling the fact that they do not control the executive branch of government. However, we might now have a case in which BDS has the positive effect of actually causing a high level government leaker of super secret information to expose himself. The story about the alleged leaker to the press of the FISA (Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act) program details was written up in the August 13 Newsweek article, Looking For a Leaker:
The controversy over President Bush’s warrantless surveillance program took another surprise turn last week when a team of FBI agents, armed with a classified search warrant, raided the suburban Washington home of a former Justice Department lawyer. The lawyer, Thomas M. Tamm, previously worked in Justice’s Office of Intelligence Policy and Review (OIPR)‚Äîthe supersecret unit that oversees surveillance of terrorist and espionage targets. The agents seized Tamm’s desktop computer, two of his children’s laptops and a cache of personal files. Tamm and his lawyer, Paul Kemp, declined any comment. So did the FBI. But two legal sources who asked not to be identified talking about an ongoing case told NEWSWEEK the raid was related to a Justice criminal probe into who leaked details of the warrantless eavesdropping program to the news media. The raid appears to be the first significant development in the probe since The New York Times reported in December 2005 that Bush had authorized the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on the international phone calls and e-mails of U.S. residents without court warrants.
What this Newsweek story by Michael Isikoff doesn’t mention is what might have caused the FBI to be suspicious of the alleged leaker—BDS blog postings by Thomas Tamm. One such BDS posting was made by a reader identifying himself as Thomas Mann in the New York Times The Caucus political blog. The post was a sarcastic comment at 11:42 AM in the November 29, 2006 edition of The Caucus over the possibility of civil war in Iraq:
It is not yet a civil war. It won’t be a civil war until there are two armies, one from the north, one from the south. The two armies must wear blue and gray respectively, and must be led by U.S. Grant and Robert E. Lee. Only then will it meet our definition of a civil war.

He evidently was one of a group of DOJ officials that balked at the NSA surveillance program back in 2004 when a sort of mini-coup took place. I don’t believe he was the only source and indeed I am working an angle that has a much larger mouth piece. Still if the Bureau can twist the screws on Tamm a bit perhaps he can give up the whole corale of leakers still entrenched within the system.
UPDATE: More updates at Strata-Shere and Clarice Feldman at American thinker.
As I said, Tamm could very well be one of the leakers, yet I would add that he was a relatively small player compared the others involved in the probe. Again, it’s most likely advantageous to flip Tamm to get him to turnover more names.

1Mac–
Thank you for the roundup. Thanks to Clarice, too.
Isn’t it interesting all of the connections that ring the bell: Democratic National Committee donations, DOJ Clinton implants, Gorelic wall preventing investigation of terrorists ending in 9/11 mass murder (Why does so much come back to Jamie Gorelic?), FISA Court judges, even a mention of Judge Reggie Walton, now on FISA court, and don’t forget George Ernst Stavro Blofeld Sorros. Hmmm. Are there any more connections?
After this weekend’s Senate/House debates on intelligence operations, in which we got to see the Fifth Column in all of its anti-American lunacy, what appears to be another loose cannon leaker may be much bigger, and reach much higher than anyone can imagine. Guess there’s some sweating going on at the DNC? AJ Strata’s noticing of certain websites clensing their pages is very telling. But it won’t work. Sounds like the net is already thrown. Hope it’s a wide net.
BTW, apologies, Mac, for doubting. Is this the Hot Summer you promised last year? With the Dems in Congress gleefully and in public trying to keep US intelligence blinded, (and manipulate legislative votes. Is nothing beneath them?) it’s probably better this year than last. Right on schedule, just one year delay.
Thanks for your coverage.

2Holy crap, Mac!
I’ve just been reading the updates here and at the Stratsphere. WOW! Just wow. No wonder they been trying to run Gonzales out of town.
Thanks for posting this. I think it’s just the beginning.

4Right retire05.
And “this” from Clarice at American Thinker:
From JOM poster “ranger”
I have a feeling that some senior Dems are very concerned about what might come down next summer. One of the interesting aspects of this case it how a reporter obtained the contents of a letter so sensitive that it was hand written and only two copies existed (one in the office of the VP who was the addressee, and the other in the office of Sen. Rockafeller, who was the author). I seriously doubt that information came from the office of the VP.
Mr. Tamm may have been one of the original leakers, but there were confirming sources at the FISA Court and in the Senate who could become significant political liabilities if indictments were filed or unsealed in 2008.
Can you say YIKES??
