The Washington Time’s Rowan Scarborough’s, book, Sabotage, is out and worth the read if you really want to understand just how rogues within the CIA attempted to undermine, and the in the case of Valerie Plame, commit treason, during a time of war.
Among other details in the book:
* How CIA analysts repeatedly leak details about classified intelligence programs with the dual intent of ending them and damaging the president
* How, on at least eight occasions, intelligence officials have made serious allegations of wrongdoing against the president’s men–which turned out to be false
* Why, contrary to popular belief, the CIA has become predominantly liberal
* How a CIA turf battle prevented special operators from pursuing and capturing a notorious Taliban leader
* How current and former CIA officers fueled conspiracy theories that President Bush orchestrated the 9/11 attacks on America
* How a CIA leak to the New York Times deprived the U.S. of critical information in the War on Terror
* How press leaks by the CIA have damaged relations with our foreign allies in the War on Terror
* How a CIA analyst worked with Democrats to sabotage the nomination of John Bolton to the UN
* How Clinton’s downsizing of the CIA led to the closing of stations in scores of jihadist breeding grounds–including Hamburg, Germany, where the 9/11 plot was hatched.
According to Powerline, the CIA attempts a little damage control - something they never do with such books - showing just how close to home the truth hits.
They had better keep the responses rolling because according to a tip there is another book coming out that specifically exposes how Wilson/Plame conspired with media and Government officials to attemp to throw the “dogs off” of Iraq in the lead up to the war.

1After six years, we’ve not repaired the devastation wrought by the Clinton Admin., whose greatest accomplishment was to teach the entrenched Left to manage the “news cycle.” Outrages become so numerous and routine as to merit but fleeting attention. Repeated enough, the most flagrant is ignored as “nothing new” or important:
Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary–
Fifth Column: a group of secret sympathizers or supporters of an enemy that engage in espionage or sabotage within defense lines or national borders.

2Wow, this is some pretty damning stuff. Maybe a Sunday talk show host can bring Scarborough on to debate some former CIA people like Pillar, Scheuer, and/or Yaphe. It would make for an interesting show if the host could handle it the right way.
Mac, I think Scarborough is with the Examiner now. Not the Washington Times any more.

3The ‘92 election was basicly a coup, the CIA had their fingers all over that.
Part of the reason for Reno’s firing the US Attorney’s in ‘93 was to cover up corruption involving the CIA, namely the dope running operation into Mena, Ark. That dope running operation didn’t end with the ending of Iran-Contra.

5Mac,
Also heard today, via Fox News, that Comey tried to scrap a vital intel program right under Ashcroft’s nose when he was in the hospital. Think Comey was under orders from Chuckie?
The Judiciary committee called Gonzales a LIAR AGAIN today!!! When is this sh*t gonna stop? Sigh.

6Five will get you ten that the imbedded Clintonistas and the media will managed to either bury or “discredit” both these expose’ books. They have the power because they control what comes out of the agency. If they don’t like it, it gets sidetracked to the trash. Until someone discovers how to clean house, like Clinton and Algore did, and replace the traitors with people loyal to the current administration, I don’t see anyone being able to control what these people do. The whole shebang in the State Dept. and our intelligence agencies should serve at the pleasure of the President. But that would take a rewrite of the Civil Service laws and since civil servants are the only Union members, since Clinton arranged to transfer our unionized manufacturing base to his beloved Chairman Mao’s China, I don’t think either party dares stand up to them. Too bad Bush can’t hire his own loyalists to interfere in the next Democrat’s foreign policy. But if he did, Everyone would be yelling about his adding to the federal payroll. He can’t win no matter what he does.
