The Surrender Twins are at it again!
“Top US congressional Democrats bluntly told President George W. Bush Wednesday that his Iraq troop “surge” policy was a failure.Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi challenged the president over Iraq by sending him a letter, ahead of a White House meeting later on Wednesday.
“As many had forseen, the escalation has failed to produce the intended results,” the two leaders wrote.
“The increase in US forces has had little impact in curbing the violence or fostering political reconciliation.
“It has not enhanced Americas national security. The unsettling reality is that instances of violence against Iraqis remain high and attacks on US forces have increased.
“In fact, the last two months of the war were the deadliest to date for US troops.
The letter appeared to preview a fresh showdown over Iraq between anti-war Democrats and the president, just a few weeks after Bush forced his foes to strip troop withdrawal timelines from a 100 billion dollar emergency war budget.
It also came a few days after the US military mourned its 3,500th soldier killed in action in Iraq.
Pelosi and Reid told Bush in the letter that they planned to send him new legislation to “limit the US mission in Iraq, begin the phased redeployment of US forces, and bring the war to a responsible end.”
“Responsible end”. Coming from the two most irresponsible political hacks in our history.
You’ll of course notice that September is but three months away, but these two are delaring the surge a failure.
Makes you wonder whether they actually think that things are going so well – because they are – that they fear a positive report in September so they’re trying to pull the plug now.

3MAC,
A long time ago, I was in a checkout line at a supermarket and I was debating which Sunday paper to get. I asked a friend which paper has the most comics and he replied, “Get the Post – it’s all comics.”
Pentagon: Iraqi violence still rising

WASHINGTON – Violence in Iraq, as measured by casualties among troops and civilians, has edged higher despite the U.S.-led security push in Baghdad, the Pentagon told Congress on Wednesday.

4Besides the fact that AP cannot be entirely trusted with it’s reporting.
Nevertheless, a spike in violence isn’t doesn’t mean the surge or other efforts are not working. In fact the AP isn’t reporting the entire story of the Pentagon report which had in fact many positive aspects in it.
The only real comedy is in the assertion that we must quit to succeed.

5Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi challenged the president over Iraq by sending him a letter…
What that says to me is that neither Pelosi or Reid have the “guts” to confront President Bush in person, they are doing this behind his back!!!
Cowards, ALL!!
