At this point, we know who the enemy is and it’s not Al Qaeda as Brian El-Ross of ABC (we’d sell the country out for some ratings) blows the lid off another national secret.¬† (No, I won’t reprint the story here).
Let’s look at what damaged this leak caused in just the last 12 hours. ¬† All of which is based on facts as told to me.¬† The agency had to immediately extract assets in Iran and Iraq and pull back operations in other critical areas – in other words – scramble. ¬† Additionally there might be as much as four ops in critical exposure because of the story.
So where is Chuck Schumer now?¬† So ‘protective’ of Valerie Plame, will he now show the same outrage at the exposure of a covert operation that put our agency men and women in such danger?
Yeah, hold your breath.
I would suggest that at a mimimum Brian Ross and his execs at ABC News will be brought up on charges of devulging active classified operations and endangering the security of the United States in a time of war.  In the meantime I would suggest a blogswarm calling for a boycott of ABC TV until Brian Ross is fired.
What he did far outweighs what Imus did and he should at lease suffer the same fate.

4FIFTH COLUMN. Take your pick:
Random House Dictionary of the English Language: A group of people who, although residing in a country, act traitorously and subversively out of a secret sympathy with an enemy.
Webster’s New World Collegiate Dictionary: [first used by the Sp Nationalist General Mola (1936) who, besieging Madrid with four columns from the outside, boasted of having a "fifth column" within] 1. Those people in Madrid who aided the forces of Francisco Franco… 2. Any group of people who aid the enemy from within their own country.
Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary: a group of secret sympathizsers or supporters of an enemy that engage in espionage or sabotage within defense lines or national borders.
Brian Ross is only the most recent. There’s a long list: NY Times, CBS, J. Rockefeller, Pelosi, Murtha, Reid, Mr & Mrs Clinton, Gorelic, Mr and Mrs Plame, Kerry, Kennedy, Hagel, Durbin, Feinstein, Boxer, Murray, Waxman, Leahy…, the list seems endless (and how many leakers are at the CIA and other Defense establishment bureaucracies), and nearly all proudly carry a D behind their names. There’s a pestilence of traitors and subversives operating openly and arrogantly to damage the US and limit the effectiveness of our armed forces and intel operations at home and around the world. And they do it while enjoying the benefits, protections, yes even the priviledges of celebrity and power.
Will even one of these fifth columnists see a hearing or, God forbid, a trial? Who’s got time for that? Not the Justice Dept. Leahy and Waxman have Gonzalez so busy dancing around in circles he looks dizzy.
We all heard how 2006 was to be a “Big Summer.” Since then enough new treason has accumulated for a Big Year. Any chance? Or did the ’06 election bury all hope?
