And they wonder why the MSM isn’t taken seriously
“WASHINGTON – Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says his long friendship with President Bush makes it easier to say “no” to him on sticky legal issues.
Gonzales’ critics say the attorney is far more likely to say “yes,” and they say that leaves the Justice Department vulnerable to a politically determined White House.
Probably not since Watergate has an attorney general been so closely bound to the White House. Gonzales has pushed counterterrorism programs that courts found unconstitutional and filled the ranks of federal prosecutors with Republican loyalists. In doing so, he has put Bush’s stamp on an a Cabinet department that is supposed to operate largely free of the White House and beyond the reach of politics.”
Not since Watergate…..
Well, perhaps, but if you want to talk about closeness, how about Robert F. Kennedy, AG under John F. Kennedy, and also – hold on to your seat – his brother. The greatest case of nepotism in Government – ever.
But more to the point, Janet Reno. No not related to Bill Clinton – although could be his brother – when you talk about “tied at the hip” and being a “yes” person, Gonzales pales in comparison to Reno who’s actions not only showed incompetance but bordered on treason.

The entire information flow has become stupid in my opinion. Print, electronic media, even the blogs. I am going to tune out for a while, I have more important things to concentrate on. I will voice my opinion in the voting booth.
We have come to a point where the inmates are running the asylum. Where have all the grownups gone?
Crosspatch:
Don’t tune out entirely. There are those of us who agree with you and look forward to reading your thoughts.
We are not all crazy, but there are a few who wish to make us crazy!
The left is all about creating some kind of fantasy reality. The right is, as an old platoon sergeant knew would say, “ate up with the dumbass”.
There’s noplace left to go,people can not reach a compromise, it is “my way or the highway” on both sides, neither can give a little to get a little.
Our political landscape is crowded with a bunch of spoiled childish morons. We need a new political party. The Democrats and the Republicans have gone stupid on me.
Crosspatch, I am so with you on all of this.
